I can’t believe the size of this Jurassic Coast Colossal Crinoid Fossil!

Here is a video on UA-cam about a huge fossil, I published a while ago - with a most interesting fossil find! Mike Harrison has found the most wonderful crinoid fossil you could ever imagine. Here is just a fragment of what he has been digging up, in a mud slip. In the first minute of the UA-cam film you can see that he has an amazing piece of crinoid fossil.The area he is digging in and working on ,is like “soft cream cheese.” He has got special permission to do that work by the National Trust . Mike has another large fossil he found on Black Ven, that is the skull of an Ichthyosaur- in the Lyme Regis Museum. We will bring you more film on UA-cam of this crinoid specimen, when its fully developed.The best tools are your eyes when finding fossils. I recommend wearing safety glasses and sturdy rubber gloves when hammering the right little rocks. Remember the cliffs are dangerous and liable to fall suddenly and without warning. Keep away from the dangerous cliffs, the best fossils are washed out onto the beaches at low tide, by the sea's actions. Look out for the slippery seaweed on the ledges and rocks. A fossil hunting video I made see the link ! The fossil collecting is always best tried at low tide ! Stay away from the dangerous cliffs that are liable to fall suddenly and without warning ❗️

Some of the best crinoids I have seen in a long while! Can you possibly do a 3d scan of those so that people like myself can print them in finite detail and use them in our museums?

Those are some amazing Crinoid fossil specimens! I’ve never done a 3D scan on fossils . Mike has one of his other huge ichthyosaur skulls in the the Lyme Regis museum. I wonder if they’ve done any 3D scanning there I’ll ask
