lol yeah. That's I haven't seen all the episodes yet, but at this point, that will probably be her lasting legacy with me. Much like with Romesh last season: "Tree Wizard! Tree Wizard!"
Yesss so many of these comedians are just genuinely friends behind the scenes and some use it to their advantage more than others........**looks to a certain welshman** 😂😂😂
“What your name?” “Greeggg.” “Noooo…” “Yeesss.” “I changed it!” Before I watched this season, I had seen Katherine on Big Fat Quiz and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and didn’t really take to her, but she won me over on Taskmaster. I’m currently enjoying her travel show with Joe Wilkinson.
also you mentioned a couple of times (in this and another video) about the transitional music - it's actually performed by Alex Horne's band The Horne Section...
Alex uses "Impress this Mayor" as his standard answer whenever an interviewer asks him about a favorite task, because of how open-neded the entire thing was.
Seasons 12, 13 and 14 are absolutely amazing and it's incredible that they all happened consecutively. Really looking forward to seeing you react to them 46 years from now ❤
Haha FOR REAL! That last sentence is what I was just about to say! lol. I'm in it for the long haul though :) If you drop off before then, just remember to check back in from time to time on the channel and see where I am ;)
Ah, Dorothy Parker, the caustic American wit who came up with “What fresh hell is this?” She was a writer and poet and one of the founders of the famed Algonquin Round Table, a legendary luncheon group in New York. Reviewing an actress in a play, Parker observed her “emotions ran the gamut from A to B.” (I think it was Katherine Hepburn.) Another time she said, “If I have another drink I’ll be under the table. If I have two more, I’ll be under the host.” A really fascinating character. Loved your reaction, as always! Peace …
Really?? That’s awesome. I know her by name, but I don’t know much about her, or that she’s responsible for that line. I love it. Thank you for sharing the info, and the “under the host” line; that one’s even better lol
Hahahaha ok this is easily one of my favorite comments of the day. Thank you! Sorry, no, “yo soy Daveed”.. I am David’s. it’s a nod to my in-laws, who are Hispanic and joke about my notoriously bad Spanish. I don’t know if it’s still this way, but someone once told me that the automated closed captions read, “I have soy diabetes.”
On the podcast Doc said his original idea to “impress the mayor” was that he would get some local boys to charge into the office to scare him and then Doc would ‘save him’ lol. The producers shot it down for legal reasons
Another great reaction! 😂😂 I kind of chuckled to myself when you said that Alex is nailing it with how clever he is inventing these tasks. I agree wholeheartedly, of course! But you're only into Series 2. Having watched 16 series, he's still spot on with creating new tasks (assisted by Tim Vine and, no doubt, other creators). Damn, I ❤ this show! Greg pronounces his name as DAVIS. I've seen several shows where he's said it himself, including Taskmaster, Graham Norton, Would I Lie To You, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, etc.
Thank you so much! I committed to DavISS, and come hell or high water I’m sticking to it lol. Yeah it’s not lost on me how early in the game I am, which makes it even MORE impressive what I imagine he’s doing now. He probably has them skydiving into the cottage and dropping an olive into a martini blindfolded.
For real. And even Katherine with her song, but definitely Richard yes. I also like that he says “two sh*ts” - the immature child still living within me loves when distinguished people swear.
The whole lord thing is just a bit of nonsense for fun. The whole thing is a novelty gift in the same realm as those own a star certificates. I remember a lot of Americans actually believing it to be real and being disappointed a couple of years later. A lot of them went on to call it a scam as well. In reality it's just a gag gift, whose profits go partly into preservation charities.
_A lot of them went on to call it a scam as well_ Because the people who sold it didn't market it as 'gag gifts', and they didn't tell all the UA-camrs, who promoted it for them, to do that either. They still don't make it clear. Try looking at e.g. the Highland Titles site now; they're still doing their best to give the strong impression that people actually, legally, under Scottish law, become Lords and Ladies. And the whole nature protection thing isn't about sharing profits with anyone, but about the idea that by buying tiny bits of land, you protect it. Which might make sense, if owning a souvenir plot gave you any meaningful legal rights over the use of the land, and if the land they're selling wasn't already legally protected as Special Areas of Conservation. The last part means that they can't really use it for anything profitable, except selling it as souvenir plots.
Thank you!! This comment was perfectly timed because I was really conflicted on whether to do the thumbnail that I ended up using with the three of them, or one with the Mayor and Katherine. Guess I'll leave this one after all :)
Jon has made a career of playing up his pickiness, but he did a really nice documentary exploring OCD and trying to discover if he met the criteria for it. It's available on UA-cam--a more vulnerable side of him than we usually see.
The rabbit and the hat live task is quite infamous across Taskmaster now, as it really throws off a lot of stats when comparing contestabts, especially points-per-task across a series, which is the main way of ranking "best" contestants. Their decision to award 15 "real" points to Katherine makes it still the highest sxore for any task. With a few rare exceptions, if there are more than 5 "points" available in a task, they are just ranked from most points to least and awarded points in that order to keep it an average of 15 per task (5+4+3+2+1).
Greg definitely says Dav-is on his first full stand up show, Firing Cheeseballs at a Dog, there is a line where he says his mum tells him ‘listen to me Greg Davies, no one can take your name from you’ and he definitely says Dav-is then not Dav-ees, it would be fun to see you react to some of his, and the other stand ups we’ve seen so far on here, full stand up shows The same as some tasks and some seasons are better than others, it’s the same with the contestants, some are more entertaining/likeable than others, Katherine was one of my least favourites but there hasn’t been anyone I’ve actually disliked, and there have been 80 contestants in the main seasons, plus some Xmas and New Year specials that just do one episode, every time you think you have a favourite you find another, but Roisin definitely does stand out long term I think
If you love Josh, then find the show he is a co-host on called "The Last Leg." It is awesome! As TM progresses you'll hear Greg and Alex and others say "Davies" and "Davis", so I feel like Greg doesn't mind it pronounced either way.
Hi David!! Hope you are well this week!!! Also thought you might be interested to know that Doc Browns sister is the acclaimed author Zadie Smith, White Teeth being perhaps her most famous book.
S'up!😄Yay more Taskmaster! Trust me, your comedic heart will eventually cheat on your season 1 crew! I'm like you I always think there's no one like the first...and then I get sucked in to different seasons loving them thinking ____ season may be my favorite. There are certain upcoming comedians and tasks that are wee your pants worthy!!!!! And I'm here for every episode you review!😄😄💚
On Davies, different families pronounce it differently. For Greg its "Dave iz". You'll see this acutely in Season 12 when Alan Davies (no relation) is a contestant, he pronounces his name closer to how Katherine did here ("Dave ees"). Alex is from the South of England and Greg is from the North, so sometimes there are dialect differences. Greg sometimes makes fun of Alex for saying things "wrong".
A surprising number of Taskmaster contestants have been on Doctor Who. Just from the series youve seen so far, Greg and Frank Skinner have made appearances.
Richard is a TV presenter and game show host mostly. Good witted and very lateral thinking. On other shows, mostly 8 Out of 10 Cats and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (a satirical version of Countdown, a contest that many Brits take seriously like how some Americans take Jeopardy), Jon and Joe are often on those two shows and you'll see why they all pick on Jon for being short and why Joe is so funny as a think headed guy. Two of the funniest guys on British TV! This was considered one of the strongest casts in Taskmaster history by lots of Brits. But lots more awesome moments to come! No spoilers, but excited for you to see!
Let me tell you something.. I am about bursting at the seams to do Cats Countdown and more Would I Lie to You. I have to figure out a schedule to rotate in with Taskmaster and the other content I do on the weekends, but trust me- it's in the works!
There's so many iconic moments, episodes and tasks I can't wait for you to see. So many more contestants to fall in love with. The growing, yet odd, bromance between Alex and Greg.
I think that was my comment you paraphrased at the end, so thanks for that. You've made my night! 😊 As for how to pronounce Greg's name, I've always pronounced it Day-veez but I have no idea if that's correct or not 🤔
as much as I am a huge fan of Taskmaster (UK), and i've seen all seasons to date, after a few I'd recommend checking out Taskmaster NZ - it's just as mad as UK flavoured Taskmaster, and the guy they have for the assistant is doing a great embodiment of Alex throughout... but yeah. Watch them both...
The surname "Davies" is Welsh and _usually_ pronounced "DAY-vihss" (and, honestly, that's incredibly reasonable given how Welsh pronunciation often goes), occasionally, though, people will pronounce it "DAY-veez", which most people consider an acceptable way to pronounce it. Meanwhile the name "Gwynedd", is only ever properly pronounced the same as "Gweneth".
@@DavidvsFilm So you may have missed it because I know I did the first time, and some of the cast has also said they misunderstood at the time. Whereas normally a live task like this would result in 1-5 points based on how many rabbits they got in the hat, they were awarded a point for EVERY rabbit. So Jon and Richard dicked around and did the task like expected with the hats on since placing at the bottom for some tasks is whatever. Except that made for a massive point discrepancy here. Jon got 4 rabbits/points, Richard 7, Joe & Doc 12, and Katherine 15! She doubled her episode score with a single task. Jon and Richard have both talked on the podcast about how they would have fought harder to get more rabbits if they had realized how the points worked. Production did get better after this about clearly explaining when a task has different scoring though. 😅
You've got lots of great seasons of UK Taskmaster to see, we're up to S17 now (as well as the specials) - but I hope you consider watching the New Zealand and Australian versions too which are also great. And the US one too, even though most people think it's worse.
You should watch some 8 out of 10 cats does countdown or Would I Lie to you clips. It will give you a better idea of some of these contestants and future ones

I met Peter the mayor randomly earlier this year, real gentleman, very sweet and polite. Loving your reactions David!
Oh wow, that’s cool. And thank you!!
The last skeptic and Katherine's sister ended up getting off together.
How dare you pull me into gossip that you know I cannot walk away from. This is EXACTLY the kind of behind the scenes I live on. Thank you.
