If you compare Drago's glove touch with Rocky during Round 1 rough glove touch "I must break you." to Round 15's gentle glove touch "To the end" you know he respected Rocky for being tough.
While filming this movie, Dolph “the Russian” actually punched Stallone so hard in the chest he had to be hospitalized. His heart swelled and almost killed him. To be fair, he told Dolph to really hit him 😂
Yeah....he wanted some action where it was all out. Dolph was a high level full contact karate champion with a 50 pound weight advantage...so probably wasn't the best idea Sly ever had.
I do admire the lengths some actors will go in fight scenes like that. If I remember correctly Heath Ledger really wanted Christian Bale to hit him in the face, and Valentina Schevchenko cracked Halley Berry’s ribs with a side-shot kick.
Yeah I just saw the UA-cam short on this they said something about his heart touched his rib and sly was in the ICU FOR 9 DAYS! When I saw the short listed I clicked on it immediately wow your subscribers are trivia geniuses!
Stallone is one of the few actors who truly suffered through his craft to make realistic fight sequences. In the original Expendables, he separated his shoulder when he was fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin.
25:43 "The place he's staying at.....it's still better than Detroit" Best line in the whole video, and at just the right moment when Rocky yells. It's like he agrees with you LOL
Dolph Lungrens reaction when coming out from under the ring to see James Brown was real....no one told him what was about to happen so he was, for lack of a better term, star struck.
"PAULIE" BURT YOUNG- served a tour of duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. While in the Marine Corps, he won 32 of 34 boxing bouts. He later became a professional boxer and compiled a 17-0 record under three aliases. His manager was Cus D'Amato.
No easy way out is performed by Robert Tepper and it is a banger. Gotta give Sly credit. He knew the importance of a good soundtrack and every film in the Rocky series brings it.
14:54 - "Chubbs has got killed in every movie I've seen him in." If you wanna watch a movie where Carl Weathers' character lives, watch "Action Jackson" (1988).
Fun fact , Stallone asked Dolf to hit him for real and Dolf (begrudgingly) did and downed him . The hospital didn't believe it was from boxing and that they were trying to get out of a car wreck insurance. Also Dolf is an incredibly intelligent guy . chemical engineering from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in the early 1980s and a master's degree in chemical engineering .
Man...I watched this right before I left for the Navy. When he cut Drago, I lost my piss and vingar shit. I stood up and yelled, right there in the movie house in Jonesboro Arkansas. DRAAAAAAGGGGOOOOO!!!
I like how the dogs came over to watch the last fight. They try to look casual but thinking "I gotta see this". They filmed more than one ending. In the director's cut, after Rocky gives the "Everybody can change" speech, Gorbachev doesn't stand up and applaud. Instead, he stands up and leaves and all of his men follow, leaving Drago's promotor all alone.
I'm surprised they left the part in where Rocky says his kid is supposed to be home in bed... late night in Russia would be the middle of the afternoon in Philly.
This was eventually meant to reflect the need for the Two Super Powers to ease tensions of possible nuclear war. And it was Mr. Gorbachev who tore down that wall
Brigitte Nielsen was married to Stallone when this movie was made You want to see a movie where she looks REALLY good check out "Red Sonja". Another fun fact about Dolph sometime in the 90's a couple of burglars broke into his house while he wasn't there and tied up his wife and kids. While they were ransacking the house they saw the pictures and realized this was Drago's house and they ran away.
I love the moment before the fight when Paulie says "I know some times I say and do stupid things but if I could step outside of myself and become someone else it would be you Rocky. You're all heart." That speech turned my feelings of being meh about Paulie into liking him. That was some real from the heart shit to say to someone who's about to fight a man that killed his last opponent. Almost like he thought it might be the last thing he got to tell Rocky
But, then you go right back to square one once he changes his mind after seeing Drago. And, of course, what we find out he's done before leaving America on this trip
Gym muscles make you strong but they don’t make you tough. A big goof like that isn’t used to someone just coming after him, so that’s what you need to do. He hits hard but he can’t hit you hard if he’s too busy defending himself
The Russian "chaperones" watching Rocky were spies, KGB agents. Bridgette Nielson was a really good looking woman and yes, she has lived a hard life. But remember:This was her in 1985, in her 20's, 37 years ago. After all,, Father time is undeated😅 Great reaction!
Yep. Back then, the Soviet Union was known as The Iron Curtain because communism was the order of the day and things that happened in Russia was very secretive. They saw everyone, but especially Westerners, especially Americans as enemies. So, most people were given tails made up of KGB agents to keep an eye on possible spies
Your reaction was hilarious! Especially when you called Apollo "Chubbs". I can't look at Creed the same way without thinking about his wooden hand. "He about to beat the Kunta Kinte out of Chubbs, ain't he?" Too funny! Keep up your great reactions!
You are the best! Love your reaction videos and your insight! I am 47 years old and have watched all these movies a dozen times. Your statement about Rocky sounding dumb cause he don't think with his head he talks from his heart, my mind was blown. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and reactions!
'Old Glory' is a name for the American flag. 😊 This reaction was a very fun watch-along. Thank you. Dolph Lundgren won against thousands of other actors to land the role of Ivan Drago. After Creed's being a showman, and Clubber's being a brash loudmouth who yells 90% of the time, I appreciated Ivan's quiet no nonsense stoic vibe. A warrior that does his 'talking' in the ring.
*"He's all wrong for us baby......I saw you beat that man like I never saw no man get beat before and the man kept coming AFTER YOU.....We don't need that kind of man in our life"* Still the best line in any Rocky movie PERIOD
This installment had that larger than life feel. Sad the first time seeing Creed getting pummeled like that. He went out the way he wanted to. I really loved seeing Duke and Rocky together, they had the best corner dialogue.
Not a lot of people know that Dolph Lundgren was a genius who attended MIT and other colleges, and that he was in a relationship with Grace Jones at the time, which maybe wasn't so genius. He said that the Grace Jones orgies wore him out. Couldn't keep up.
What was also so crazy about this movie is that Adrian, Rocky's rock, as it were, with the line "You cant win!" Just dont expect that from Adrian after all they went through. It was a dramatic moment in the series in my opinion.
Man, I'm so glad you left in Paulie's scene with Rocky right before the fight. It's my favorite scene and I figured you'd react just as you did. And as usual, you've got the funniest comments. Great job!
The mustache'd ring announcer is Leroy Nieman. He was a great contemporary artist. You've seen his work and never knew it. He did the paintings in rocky 3, including the last freeze frame of Rocky and Apollo throwing their punches. He's done just about every major athlete of the 20th century. He died sometime within the last decade. You look at him and he doesn't strike you as a painter. But he was definitely unique.
Where the shot the stuff in Russia was really Wyoming. Near my home town. It gets colder than Siberia every year. You bet your ass I ran in the snow listening to this soundtrack!
Yeah I’m pretty sure the full story is that some guy broke into his house while his wife was there and he saw the picture and recognized him from Rocky IV and got so terrified that he left the house immediately and apologized I may be wrong, if so correct me but I think this is how it played out
"I'm gonna need someone to explain what happened to her..." Cocaine... it's a helluva drug... 😅 Beverly Hills Cop 2, Cobra, and Red Sonja for some more pre-Flav Brigitte
This movie is like 60% musical montage, but it's still great. People hate on 5 a lot, but I watched it as a kid, so it resonated for me for reasons I won't spoil. But the follow up to that... the legacy sequel Rocky 6 is probably top 3 Rocky movies ever.
You can hear creed saying no to throwing the towel and he said no matter what don’t stop this fight Rocky obliged and it’s by far his biggest regret and it’s sad
the song is by Robert Tepper No Easy Way Out. This is a great, emotional series, true to the heart of people and how they feel. They have a way of gripping your heart. Another part of the movie is when Adrian ( Rocky's wife ) comes to visit him & when Paulie tells Rocky on his walk to the fight, when he says if, he could unzip himself, step out and be someone else, he would want to be him ( Rocky ) thats the part of the movie that got me and, when he says to his little boy after the fight on tv, Merry Christmas kid, i love you.
You left out the most iconic line in the movie! Where Duke says "You see!? He's not a machine! He's not a machine, he's a man!!" And Drago ironically says "He is not human...he is like a piece of iron..."
@Extraordinarily Ordinary Media. Loved the reaction. Thank You for showing real emotion it is what made us fall in love with your channel many months ago. Love your real fandom real anger and real discussion after the films. Keep doing you we adore it
So true about the railroad shit, I was a train conductor and every old conductor you met had grip strength like they could tear your arm off and beat you over the head with it.
In '89 when I was 9 I would sneak into my older brother's room and use his Walkman to listen to this soundtrack. It was, is so badass. My bro also had an Arnold S. Mr. Universe poster and a Rambo survival knife. Classic.
Greatest movie and best soundtrack. The "No way out" and him driving off montage was so well done. Also has one of my favorite songs in "Sweetest Victory" What a great soundtrack, what a great movie, what a great decade.
I knew Paulie’s speech would get to you. Before Flavor Flav she was married to Stallone. Adrian was wearing Vegeta boots when she showed up in Russia.🤘🏼
A lot of people suffer from Eczema. However I’m one of the unlucky ones who managed to not develop it on my skin where it’s annoying but easily treated but inside my ear canals and eardrums. All that to say, at just 40 I’ve lost a lot of hearing in both ears. When people talk around me it sounds like hearing people talk under water. That’s why I keep myself distracted with UA-cam videos. I can put on headphones and turn it all the way up so I can hear. As I’ve said before multiple times, you’re my #1 absolute favorite. I’m also a dog lover and it makes me so happy to see them right along side you. Especially the one that sits up for attention. It’s hilarious and adorable! It’s easy to see you’re a good person just by the way your dogs love you so much and trust you. I love how they get up to check on you while watching scary movies and you’re startled by a jump scare. All of that long windedness just to ask…what are your dog’s names? I can quite hear it enough when you’ve said them. I think the one that sits up is either Drogo or Drogon. Am I close? I can’t tell what the white dog’s name is at all. Help a girl out
Fun fact about Burt Young the actor who plays Paulie. He was a heavyweight boxer in 60s and 70s and. Back when Stallone was doing publicity for one of his movies Sly had a heavybag set up and did some heavybag work for the reporters. I guess it was decent...he was working good and hitting harder than your average guy would. After he got done Burt (Paulie) threw on the gloves and started smashing the heavybag. All the reporters looked, shocked. Just goes to show you can't judge skills by appearance.
@@ckobo84 prior to the late 1970s anyone was a heavyweight if they were over 180 lb there was no Cruiserweight division. Having said that I'm not sure what weight he was, but according to George Chuvalo he did work as George's sparring partner a few times and there are photos online of Burt young and in shape in a fighting pose. But it's hard to say exactly how good he was because he seems to have definitely been a BSer (he told Chuvalo he's Puerto Rican...he isn't). Bur given the fact that he did spar with someone the level of George Chuvalo he was definitely the best boxer on the set for the early Rocky movies at least.
Been waiting all week for this. I love Sly. I remember people saying, back in the day that Apollo's performance lasted longer than his fight with the Drago. :) I enjoyed this reaction.
This has been my favorite soundtrack since I got ahold of my dads cassette tape. There is a 3 way tie for my favorite Rocky. Rocky III and Rocky Balboa are the other two. AWESOME reaction!
This will always be my favorite Rocky movie although i love them all! If i have to do something i dont feel up to i will put on the training montage music in my headphones!!! My favorite actor by far but i always wanted to look like Drago though! If i remember correctly Dolph Lundgren aka Drago was a Karate champion and also a graduate of MIT! He hit Sly so hard that he enlarged his heart and Sly was on a Careflight to the hospital because Sly told him to give him 100 pecent and that was a mistake
When you get a chance please consider reacting to some of these movies: - Interstellar - Rustler’s Rhapsody - Bicentennial Man - Meet Joe Black - Shawshank Redemption - The Man In the Iron Mask - Paper House - Benny & Joon - Armageddon - Daylight (Sylvester Stallone) - The Family Stone - Stepmom - Frequency - A Few Good Men - Galaxy Quest - Immortals (Henry Cavill) - The Island - The Jacket - The Joy Luck Club
Shawshank Redemption is actually coming next Monday to UA-cam, Galaxy Quesr is already on the channel (one of the first few we did) and most of the rest of the list is on the watch list. Some of the bigger names are already planned out.
"He been taken that Barry Bonds medicine"🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact- The Black dude that’s Apollo’s coach is one of the best chess players in the world in real life.
Upon a deeper dive, his name is Tony Burton.
If you compare Drago's glove touch with Rocky during Round 1 rough glove touch "I must break you." to Round 15's gentle glove touch "To the end" you know he respected Rocky for being tough.

"Paulie's gonna fuck that robot" 😂😂😂😂😂😂 One of the best lines i've ever heard during this movie . Great reaction dude 😂😂
I don't know if Paulie f*cked the robot -- but he definitely taught it to talk dirty to him. ;)
That one killed me 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Crazy, man. Probably has an electric v-----, or something. Electrocution in Paulie's future, I think.😮
What made it even funnier was that all of us sat watching, in unison, said "Yep." 🤣😂🤣
And even better when you know that he's in the process of f****** the Balboas'life completely right about that time
"I'm not climbing this mountain!" 😁

I think the nickname was supposed to be a double meaning. It seemed like a back handed way of saying that Apollo was all old and washed up.

Tony Burton was the GOAT. Such an underrated actor. So much conviction.
He was close friends with Stanley Kubrick and they played chess together. He's in the longer US version of The Shining.

Help a girl out
Bro you going though the Paulie transition we all went through. But now we all love Paulie and so Will you.
No way he was a heavyweight. Paulie ain't over 5'6".
Lololol he about to beat the kunta kinte out of Chubb's. This some scary music lololololol
Good stuff. Thank you, dawg.
Been waiting all week for this. I love Sly. I remember people saying, back in the day that Apollo's performance lasted longer than his fight with the Drago. :) I enjoyed this reaction.
Such a good reaction - loved the comments about that guy's mustache!
This has been my favorite soundtrack since I got ahold of my dads cassette tape. There is a 3 way tie for my favorite Rocky. Rocky III and Rocky Balboa are the other two. AWESOME reaction!
Really? LOL. I’m not saying I don’t like Rocky III and IV because I do. But they’re crap compared to I and II.
Dolph had limited English skills; so he didn't talk much; Arnold Schwarzenegger was the same way in Conan the Barbarian; he didn't talk once
Happy gilmore was making fun of the fact that he always got killed in his previous movies.
This Rocky film grossed the most money of any in franchise. USA vs USSR was huge back then!!!!
And that was KGB babysitting him
This will always be my favorite Rocky movie although i love them all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULIE
Happy birthday Paulie! 😂😂😂
Fun fact. Scarlett Johansson was to play Apollo Creed in the series but thought it didn't have enough range.
Rocky is all heart; big, slow, dumb, heart
