    The fun thing about Taskmaster is that there‘s usually someone who does very badly but for some reason that person wins the people‘s hearts instead of the trophy. So really they all win

      Oh cool! And haha, at first I thought you were going to say that it's possible to somehow overlook them. Yeah, I still just guess that if you're racing and thinking of time, stressed in the moment, you don't notice. But still!

    Everyone who wins the trophy gets the actual trophy, a new one is created for each season.
    Joe's lightbulb moment when he realises "there's strength in arches" is absolutely classic!

    I was going to wait until I caught up to your most recent video. But do you know what I have always wondered!?
    I have always wondered if they show the tasks in the order that they are actually filmed, or if they choose three tasks to play in succession to have them all make sense together in an episode.
    This episode really made me think of it because you said the final test probably has to do with a tomato potatoes. And I can see why you would say that because the other tasks all had to speak about potatoes.
    Which I know balloons, rubber ducks and potatoes or main stage gimmicks for the show, but only sometimes does it seem like all the tasks could be considered similar

    The first series was _not_ the first time Taskmaster was done, it was just the first time it was _televised._ Alex did it as a stage show at the Edinburgh Fringe. There's a recording of at least a bit of it floating around out there somewhere. I do think, though, that it wasn't fully matured until series 3. The Fringe shows was its childhood, the first two series were its adolescence, and it came of age for the third series.

    I strongly recommend Richard Osman's House of Games. I don't see it working as a reaction, its a 30 minute quiz show with random celebs. That said, it's an absolute blast and Richard is a fantastic host in it. There are full episodes constantly hitting and leaving UA-cam, but i strongly recommend picking a week at random episode with 1 or 6 in the episode number (each week is 5 episodes with 4 people across them)

      S'up Aisha!!! Haha yeah I can't wait to see more of them, especially now that I've been introduced to them here. I try to avoid spoilers as much as possible, which is hard when seasons start to age, but one person I've seen pop up in a future photo was the guy from Ted Lasso (I don't know him by name). But that was a recognizable moment when I saw his face, so I'm looking forward to his season whenever it is.

      @@DavidvsFilm The guy from the future photo was perhaps Nick Mohammed, who spent series 18 dressed as Dracula. His natural nice guy character shone through, contrasting with his previous annoying persona on "Cats does Countdown". On Ted Lasso we immediately felt sorry for his character, then liked him, then HATED him with the intensity of a thousand supernovas and were finally able to forgive him when he took ownership of his faults. Damn, that was a great show!

    To be fair to the creator the final task, being able to properly tie a tie in the UK isn’t dependent on gender, it’s purely dependent on age and what your school uniform requirements were. As an almost fifty year old woman, I wore a tie to school from the age of five until I left school at eighteen (other than non uniform days and the really warm summer days in primary school (elementary school) where the girls had the option of a school summer dress which was a short sleeved gingham dress…the boys could wear a short sleeved shirt and short trousers). So I have been able to tie a tie since I could get myself ready for school in the morning.

    Katherine didn’t really have a point with her tie thing because we wear school uniforms here in the UK and most high schools have ties for everyone so I put a tie on most days for 5 years as a girl😂. I know she’s Canadian or whatever but….ties aren’t male items of clothing. And I’m with you sometimes I like her but she does have moments that are kind of annoying hahah but I don’t think she’s a bad person or anything so I don’t have a problem with her really.

      Thanks didn't thought about the dressingcode you have in UK in schools, that explains why they had that in the task.
      In my country (Sweden), ties are a male item of clothing. It is definitly more women who have never tied a tie in my coountry (and this task would therefore have been impossible for them) then those who have learned how to do it. A guess Canada is sort of like Sweden in that sense. I understand that she could have feelt hopelessness for the task, but also, the contest is in UK. I however, thought they solved it in a fair way.

      The problem is that it requires specific knowledge. Usually Taskmaster does not require specific knowledge to be able to complete a task. Specific knowledge might make a task easier, but rarely is it necessary. I would understand if one of the men objected. If I were a contestant, my question would be “what is the correct way?” since one could argue that as long as you tie it the way you intend to tie it, it’s correct.

    • @DavidvsFilm
      @DavidvsFilm  3 місяці тому +1

      Ahhh gotcha, that's a good point. And yeah! I honestly really WANT to like her, but I think I need to see her in a different setting such as non-competitive reality tv or standup. Like here's my thing, if you'll indulge me... in the final moments of this episode, for example, before the live task has even started, she's already complaining about it. And her complaint, as far as I could surmise, was that a task involving tying a tie correctly is sexist. To your point, it shouldn't be assumed that tying a tie is exclusively male to begin with, but if we are accepting that premise, I'd argue that it's no more sexist than creating a task for your male teammates that involves doing a makeup tutorial. Then she's chasing Alex around the stage, criticizing his "top-down misogyny that keeps people like me losing", even though at that point she wasn't losing at all. She'd already won one episode (unlike Joe, a presumed certified tie-tier and beneficiary of top-down misogyny), and five minutes later went on to win the whole series. So anyway, long story short (too late), I'm totally with her and COMPLETELY supportive of eliminating unfairness anywhere it exists, misogynistic or otherwise, but I just personally didn't think this was a good example of it. Cradling the trophy as the credits roll... ;)

    • @rachaelowen8590
      @rachaelowen8590 3 місяці тому +1

      I don't think she was being serious about it. She might have been a little frustrated but the running around the stage and the comments she made was just her being silly I think. I doubt they would actually show that if she was genuinely upset and accusing the show of sexism!
