  • The first humans settled in Denmark were hunters and fishermen who entered the territory around 10,000 BC. Its rich, flat terrains and proximity to the water is what attracted them and they managed to create farms in the area in 3,000 BC.
Nowadays, Denmark is deemed as one of the best places to live being the 9th freest economy in the world. It’s also one of the richest countries with a GDP of US$ 401.12 and a GDP per capita of US$ 68,122 in 2022.

I think every country have a dark past in one way or another, we just have to learn from the past, and not try to hide the past.

As a Dane I find most of this video highly funny 😂 and mostly inaccurate…
The part about the women from Greenland is a very sad truth and a part of our history we should highly dislike 😢

It is sad when a movie fantasy becomes a "fact".

Denmark has fewer alcoholics per capita, than Norway, Sweden and the US, where the sale of alcohol, and prohibition from drinking alcohol in public exists.

Someone had to clear the landmines. As evident in other countries where landmine have not been cleared, leaving them causes them to have long lasting damage.

"One of the top most happy country" - "1 out of 5 people are dealing with severe depression"..... :D That sounds like quite a paradox there (And this rampant depression crisis applies to all Nordic/Scandinavian countries, while they claim to be "happy"..... makes one think how reliable those public statistics are......)
    - Also in many Nordic/Scandinavian countries (especially Finland) rampant alcoholism AND comparably surprisingly high "self-deletion" (not to use the word Sue E Cyde) rate are also huge problematic issues.....
    - And at last but not at least most Nordic countries - as correctly mentioned in this video - are well known to be quite "cold and closed" when it comes to creating close connections and friendships with the locals.....
    - So all in all when these polls and statistics try to show how "happy" Scandinavian countries are one should take that with quite a huge skepticism.

As someone who knows a “frogmam” and one who hunted pirates, I would like to say that they try to capture not kill them. You may even call us a bit to humane as there where a scandel not long ago where an invading pirated lost his leg in the attack, and sued the danish goverment for it. Crazy how we helped him. Bs our taxes went to that

So... 1 out of 5 young people struggle with depression and at the same time making close connections is hard. There's something going on there.
Why is it that danish people are known to be like this?

Nice introduction. Informative video about Danmark... good luck for Danmark people... how Danmark proclaimed as the happiest country. When happiness has not constantly identified around the world and its different imagination is notable between two members of one family. Vikings adopted all humanity works talented, and they melted amongst others skillfully

"Dark Side of Denmark" and skips over the fact that we had 10 years after porn was legalized, where child pornography was also legal (or rather, had not been explicitly banned yet).
"Maybe not as neutral as they claim to be" - Denmark has never claimed to be neutral after Germany invaded us.
The whole history of Vikings you present is also glaringly wrong in many places.
The Frogmen (Frømandskorpset) isn't a "Dark Side". Almost every country in the world has elite special forces of some kind. They aren't known negatively.
Denmark does indeed have a bad history in regards to Greenland. Sadly, it's not the history that you actually present. Forced sterilization also stopped in 1967, not 1980 as you claim.
H.C. Andersens life isn't considered "especially tragic". Life was rough 150 years ago, man.
    Generally speaking, super lazy video.

It looks like a paradox, but you find this throughout the list of happiest countries. The top happiest countries also rank highly in depression and suicide. The reason for that is actually pretty simple. It's hard to be unhappy when everyone around you is happy. You feel like a failure, like it's your fault, and it's hard to connect to others because they don't understand why you're unhappy. In an environment like that, mild unhappiness in life quickly leads to depression.

Denmark is the second happiest nation, in the world. The data comes from the world happiness report, by the UN.
But it's not about how happy people feel. It's a survey with questions, on hiw they feel about their life situation. Are they happy with government, life possibilities etc. So it's really a life satisfaction report.
The thing about depression, comes from surveys on how many are on anti-depressants. Vitamin D, which is something Danes take a lot of, during the dark winters, is on that list, so it artificially inflates the amount of Danes, being on anti-depressants.
