    False: Romania was NEVER occupied by the Germans. Romania's government became fascist due to the Iron Guard and shared Hitler's viewpoint on ultra-nationalism and anti-semitism. They also were the most active participant from the beginning of Operation Barbarossa all the way to Stalingrad in collusion with Germany. Over half a million Romanian soldiers fought side by side with the Germans against the Soviet Union.
    I like vice news but they need to get their facts right - there are a number of countries that colluded with Germany during WWII including Finland, Albania, Hungary, and Bulgaria. For God's sake even the Swedish government helped supply Germany's iron ore import even though they never participated in any military campaigns.

      I agree. People shouldnt assume that everyone not actually Nazi Germany under ww2 were "victims" of them. For example Sweden. Nobody asks why Norway, were the navel export ports for the iron ore where, was invaded, but the actual ore mining nation, aka Sweden, wasnt? Why wouldnt Hitler invade Sweden who produced a strategic resource that without, would have gimped all hes plans unless... Exactly.

      Right, never occupied, but they were fascist only a short time, Iron Guard were routed b Antonescu, who was a military dictator with anti semitic tendencies but not a proper fascist

      In 1940, one year before Barbarossa, after Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, Soviet Union ocuppied historycal Romanian provinces Basarabia and Herta County (now Moldavia Republic) and Northern Bucovina (present in Ukraine). Also, Hungary ocuppied North-Western of Romania, Ardeal-Transylvania. So, in that moment, alliance with Germany and war against Red Army was first and only option to recover a part of the ancient Romanian's realms: teritorries beyond Prut river, to Nistru river. Sorry my English, I'm just an greenhorn...

      yes it was. in 1916 Bucharest was occupied by the Central Forces along with most of western and southern Romaina. The goverrnment and the king had to retreat to Iasi which became the new capital of Romania until the occupation ended. Romania was never occupied by the russians though

    After the Russians occupied Romania there was Radio Free Europe listened in Romania that said that the Americans will come and help against the Russians - a resistance was formed that fought and disrupted the occupation for almost 20 years waiting for help from the West which ended up never coming. From the onset of the relations between the Russians and the Romanians, Romania was invaded on upwards of 12 occasions. This, occupations of Bassarabia and other incidents led to a huge distrust towards Russia. There were times and things that could have improved the relations, but such things never happened so it ended up with this modern stance of relations between Russia and Romania.

    • @tortellinifettuccine
      @tortellinifettuccine Рік тому

      Not true at all. It was a democratic country, but as the axis and the comintern grew, and the ussr started threatening romania, they needed to pick a side, and belived choosing the axis would have better results. Romania then switched sides when it was able, and had instilled a constitutional monarchy which meant it was democratic but had a king for show. Then, later a communist party became popular, and was voted for. It was never invaded and part of the ussr or the axis, it simply played sides very well, hence why romania still exists today.

  • @alexandersohn569
    @alexandersohn569 4 роки тому +2

    I have to note that Romania wasn't occupied by Germans in 1942, but then Romania was an Axis country, so it was an ally of the Germans. That's the reason the americans bombed Romania. But Romania was occupied by Germans in 1917, during WWI, when at that time it was allied with Russia, and in Russia the revolution started and it got out of the war and Romania was left alone to fight the Germans. Romania is well knowing for switching sides, because it had no true allies but it benefited from the conflict of the neighboring empires.

    WWI
    Romania entered the war at a time of strong crisis for the Entente, drawing upon itself numerous enemy forces, fighting on a very long battlefront and having to change its initial campaign plan permanently. But in spite of the human, material and military efforts made by the Central Powers throughout this period, they failed to achieve their fundamental political and strategic goal to defeat Romania and knock it out of the war. Despite heavy casualties, some 250,000 men (almost one third of the manpower mobilized in August 1916) compared to 105,000 Central Power casualties (including 60,000 Germans),[73] and losses of combat material, the Romanian army was still a force taken into consideration by allies and enemies alike and capable of offering resistance to further attacks. Part of the population moved to the free territory, together with the Romanian government, royal court and public authorities, which relocated to Iași. Therefore, the Kingdom of Romania continued to exercise the attributes of an independent and sovereign state, allied to the Entente powers.
    WWII
    Romania was NOT occupied by Nazi Germany!
    Romania officially joined the Axis powers on 23 November 1940. As a member of the Axis, Romania joined the invasion of the Soviet Union on 22 June 1941, providing equipment and oil to Nazi Germany as well as committing more troops to the Eastern Front than all the other allies of Germany combined. Romanian forces played a large role during fighting in Ukraine, Bessarabia, Stalingrad and elsewhere.
    According to historian and author Mark Axworthy, the second Axis army in Europe, arguably, belonged to Romania, though some would dispute this, regarding the Italian army as more significant.

    Let me correct a small mistake it's not the whole mindanao island that is under combat but rather a small city in the region of ARMM(Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) but the president declared martial law in the whole island to prevent further attempts of maute sympathizers to wreak havoc on the whole island I know this because I'm a resident of Butuan City in Caraga Region which is 8-10 hours i think from Marawi City. There are alot of opposition(people from luzon/ liberal party supporters) to the decision of the president to declare martial law on the whole island of mindanao but we residents of mindanao feel so secured because there is a lot of police & military officers in the streets

    Instead of drowning the speaker out. Make another speaker of your own on the same night or boycott the speaker or both. but both sides should get right to speak. Thwarting another's speach is not protected by the first amendment.

    Civilians don't understand that russia would get rocked in a conventional conflict with the united states or nato. Russia realizes this, and that is why tactical nuclear weapons are a normal feature of their war doctrine. So a conventional war with russia could very quickly escalate into a nuclear conflict.
