- After 1 year owning and daily driving the GT-R, what do I still HATE about it?
I have now owned my 2014 Nissan GT-R for 1 year! it is a fantastic car to daily drive and is so much fun to push! The twin turbo engine especially with the tune is incredible! While I love owning the car, there are some downsides that do hinder it's drivability for normal driving. Still love it and would totally recommend one!

I feel your pain I too never knew the r35 is a such nightmaire to park and manoeuvre in cold, wet weather. Please make a short vid so potential buyers can see what it's like for a daily there isn't any vids out there on it
What year is your car
You bought it for the wrong reasons brother... The AWD was NOT added to go up the mountains in the snow to go skiing... If you look at the clearance of the car, it can barely clear a speedbump...🤔 It was for better traction off the line/takeoff and through the finish line. Go buy a Civic Si. Lol

Nice to hear the impressions on the GTR. My Celica ST230 does the same type of beep when in reverse. Although annoying it does tell you yr in reverse with the beep.

Same color, probably the same year (edited: 2016 vice 2014). The only thing that weirded me out was the low-speed transmission noises. I've had a couple of cars over 500 HP, but didn't expect that until I slogged through the owner's manual. Also, I hate driving it long distances, super uncomfortable (especially Seattle where I live near). Great job!

Exactly about the snow!! I am wanting this car just because I can drive it all year round...snow, ice, rain, off road. Not only that but pass everyone on the mountain taking forever to get to the slopes. The beeping noise annoyed the heck out of me, just the few seconds of the video. Jeez what a headache
Yeah with winter tires the AWD is extremely capable for a year round vehicle with snowy climate. And the beeping makes no sense

My biggest gripe on mine is that it’s so damn uncomfortable. But I do not daily drive it, so I can live with it. I will be upgrading the seats soon.

What you had done finally for the clicking sounds on front wheels, my 2019 GT-R just 6000 mph on it, and It started clicking like exactly your car did.😓
Drivetrain noises are all normal for the car. You can hear the transmission shift and the axles make noise at slow speed when turning. I got used to it over time lol
I cannot wait to buy my 2017 next year. I'm getting everything lined out for it. So stoked.

Yikes I didn't know about the car beeping at you in reverse. That's almost bad enough to be a deal breaker. Did you ever get that kit to disable it?
It is super annoying even 4 years later with the car. Luckily its only a short time in R. I never did disable it, but from what Ive seen its a lot of work and several hundred $$
Its funny hearing you say this as my old 03, G35 has that annoying useless beeping when you reverse too. You would think Nissan would get rid of it as its only audible from the inside of the car. Also the G35 has the squeakiest breaks too. You would think that from 2003 to 2014 Nissan would know how to get rid of it. On the heat warmers... I've had other cars where the warmers are on the centre console and I still forget that they turned on, and for a laugh, my friends would turn them on when I'm not looking and burn my bum and back on a summers day.... So don't feel bad on that one.
What about the ride as a daily,... Is it too crashy?

Would you recommend buying a brand new GTR or certified preowned? Or just any used GTR?
Definitely go used to save some money. My car was $105k brand new. I bought it 4 years old with 24k miles on it for $67k. 1 owner, perfect maintenance history and clean carfax.
What i would like to know is, can you work on the GTR yourself? Like in the engine bay. Is it pain in ass like the 300zx regarding the turbos and so on or is it doable?
It's do able, I've done all the performance mods myself!

Heated Seat buttons in my 2015 Z Roadster are on center console. Perfect. Looks like Gtr buttons are after thought

It's funny you mention the brake noise. I just finished getting my R32 GTR legal here in California and the one thing it does that bothers me is the brakes make a squeek noise as well. I thought I had a bad set of pads, but the local techs I have spoken with who work on and own R32s say that is just what they do. Looks like it is something Nissan kept as part of the heritage lol
I ended up replacing my pads with a more conservative pad. So the noises are all gone lol
Ah well damn. Just a heads up if you ever decide to get an older one, those sounds will come back then. I'll have to dig around for maybe a pad no one locally has checked.

Ha reverse beep... I don't have that on mine. Strange... is that factory standard? The clunking as well, I don't hear that as loud on mine either, but it sounded like a Ducati transmission tho, dry clutchpack, ok the squeak yes it sounds like a schoolbus so I change my pads and it doesn't squeak anymore. I have the 15BE btw. Great video as always.

The original big block (427?) Mustang Mach 1's had a buzzer AND a dash light to warn you if you were in reverse. Because if you accidentally were in reverse, thinking you were in first, and did a burn out? That would be a VERY bad thing.
Street brakes need to work cold. Track/performance brakes are made to work red hot. Any compromise is mediocre, and worse when hot.
Love my daily driver 06 350z. The car has never had any problems besides paint chipping and damage due to always being outside in the Florida sun. Thinking about getting a r34 or r35 in 4 years.

4:27 yeah, the R35 was made to be good on Drag, circuits, dirt/sand and snow...
They're actually kinda horrible for drag racing. They destroy $30,000 built transmissions like they're T5's. Watch a high power R35 at a drag strip. They bounce hard af when they launch. Basically they launch and have to pull power our to shift to second
Horrible for drag racing? They've hit the 6 seconds on 1/4 mile... Nothing that can go below 10's is horrible.
MrZyLeXx there’s a difference from brute force long it and they working smoothly. Watch one launch in slow motion. They bounce, the launch and instantly rip all the power out to shift into second. If you could put a th400 and a solid rear axle they’d rip. So T1 did that but I think they used a lenko. First pass out it went low 7s. They’re heavy relatively when stripped down. Maybe they’re not horrible but they definitely aren’t good and my god they’re ungodly expensive to run the numbers they do.

You hit the nail on the head with the CLUNKY drivetrain. That shit had me worried when I bought mine thinking it had issues from all the mechanical sounds.
Yeah it's weird to get used to! I owned this car for 5.5 years and these sounds stayed the same. You get used to it for sure!

@@swerse Nope. There really is no way to remove it. A company does have some electric kit. But you have to cut a bunch of wires. You just get used to it over time

@@swerse I’ve seen quite a few GTR’s hit 100k and still be perfectly fine. Certainly can depend how it was treated. A lot of owners definitely beat on them. But if you find one that’s in good shape and doesn’t look beat, and has a good CarFax with maintenance history. Could be a good way to go. Sold mine with 50k miles and never gave me an issue in my time
The drive train noise is probably your torque converter, does it make a whine while driving or slowing down?
The GT-R doesn't have a torque converter. The bell housing just makes some rattle noises. The transmission is literally designed for high performance driving. So all slow speed stuff is slightly compromised.
Holy cow and to think I wanted one lol but all seriousness yes I understand the performance side for making the noises. However I don't care about the new gtr. To me it lost character.. your and little newer and little older are beautiful machines

Why did they put a toggle switch for a heated seat...🤔🤔🤔
Because of the fact you can't look at the switch while driving, if it was a normal button like most cars with a couple lights on it to show which mode it's in (low, high, off) you'd have to be able to see it, the switch they have allows you to tell where it's at without looking

I bet the reason it beeps when your in Reverse it so that you know you’re in reverse like if you were trying to put the car in drive and accidentally put it in reverse that’s how you know the difference and don’t accidentally backed up instead of going forward or something stupid like that
IDK. The only did this on a few years for the GTR. And I've never been in another car that does this. Stupid design that has no point lol

At this point, you're looking at it lol. But at the time I bought the GTR, and filmed this video, I was a marketing/inventory manager at a car dealership. UA-cam was my side business to help justify actually buying this car. But now I've been doing UA-cam full time for a year and a half, and have branched out and we run our own marketing company and help local companies.

@@moregainsmoreveins5267 They seem to be holding steady. I bought mine over two years ago for $67k. Even with the current mileage, it's worth about $65k. And there aren't too many out there that are actually in good shape. So it's really hard to find a good one in my opinion. I think they'll continue to hold values very well. In a few years I may trade for a 2017, as of now, those are still in the $80k range.

Kingpin Gamer223 Mechanical issues, wear and tear, dents, chips, rips. Worn out parts or missing bolts and under panels. I worked at a car dealership and we’d get cars that came in like that. I always passed on them since they would end up being headaches. If a certified shop passes it as mechanically sound and visually it’s good. And has regular servicing under its belt. That mileage is no problem. Pretty reliable car.

Hi bro , how are you? I have a question about GTR, i bought mine 1 month ago and its my 1st GTR, my question is: does the black edition 2015 have parking sensors? It has back camera but it doesn't "bip bip" when im near something... thanks
I think they only added parking sensors for 2017+. The interior just beeps to be annoying lol
My only problem with gtr is the interior everything in that thing looks so cheap even the gauges look outdated compared to companies like dodge, Chevy etc. I know people buy it for the power but at least make the interior look good like the hellcats, zl1 , z06

Yeah I drove a 2019 and it was very smooth! But overall these are pretty clunky cars.
got 11 Gtr., reverses bit, kit plug and play exist, clunky noise everyone know about it since the 09 model, many people comment about this, brake noise not commun, mine doesn't make noise, friend GTR's doesn't make any noise either.

My 370z is a bit clunky at low speeds too. Its like they weren't built for grandma drivers

id compare the transmission with the audi r8 2008 r tronic.
Those aren’t the same though, the gtr is a dual clutch, the r8 r tronic was a single, very sluggish and not like the gtr at all!
GTR is not for luxury or long km, this is super sport for fun driving, sound, power !

If you drive a Nissan GTR in the winter you're either going to wipe it out or the salt is going to rush the vehicle
Winter doesn't exactly mean snow here in NC lol. We get 2 days of snow each year. So my car doesn't encounter salt ever
