The House in the Cerulean Sea is one of my faves of the year so far! It's just as charming and lovely and beautiful as everyone says, and I adored every bit of it. I really enjoyed A Discovery of Witches but I know it doesn't appeal to everyone. I do think it could be a good escapist read for right now, though!
i want to read some more Ishiguro since Never Let Me Go is one of my alltime favorites and i recently got copies of Buried Giant and Klara and the Sun :)

Hearing you talk about it just makes me want to pick it up even more~ I've never actually read (or watched) 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower', and I always felt like I was missing out on something. To hear that it is written as an epistolary novel actually makes me want to pick it up though! Wow, Sarah Dessen! Her peak was around like 6th grade or so for me - I remember my fav being 'Lock and Key'. Instantly added 'The Court Dancer', 'Bloom', and 'Honey Girl' to my TBR, too~ I'm doing a reading bingo right now, and 'Bloom' can actually help me fill in one of the spaces!
I just recently finished the first 2 books in the All Souls trilogy (A Discovery of Witches and Shadow of Night) after watching the tv show, and while I did like the books (I preferred the first one) I think I enjoyed the show more, so I definitely recommend watching it even if you don't love the book! I think I may have enjoyed the books more if I'd read them before watching the show, but I'm also not sure if it's one of those instances where I only liked the characters and was interested in what was happening in the books because I liked them in the show, if that makes sense haha
