How funny, I’m learning Japanese: わたし は あめりかじん です (sorry if I messed up on anything)
This is a nice and very wholesome exchange. Welcome to the channel!
ちび - You’re English is pretty excellent! The only thing is the word “have” should be “has”, and that is because “has” is used with the pronouns she, he and it (or a name of something), and “have” is used with the pronouns you, they, we and I (or multiple names of things).

The brush is really hard to use so you kinda have to do that to get much colour

Have you ever decorated rocks with them? In America there's a thing called "kindness rocks" where you hide positive painted rocks around your town and I heard these are great for them.❤️
PS: I'm so happy some people started making these/ found out about them, they're so much fun and exciting to find. I am a stereotype now yeah!
Awww that's such a sweet gesture ❤️
Oooh i heard of that my mom told me and i heard people hide them in my town
Sadly people don't hide them in my city, but they're very common in Virginia where I used to live

So weird, I’m from Italy and these were like the best thing ever to have as a kid. Like if I behaved well of something I would get to choose one from the huge dispenser at the store and it was SO COOL, everyone wanted them... and I’m talking early 2000s. These have been around forever for me, so weird that the youtube artist community seems to only have found out about them around now.
I was looking for an Italian comment for this exact reason! POSCAs have always been pretty common here, they're in every stationery shop, so I was weirded out as well to find out they're just now becoming a trend in other states
I'm from Greece it's the same here especially when I was a teenager, we were colouring our school desks and walls.
Im italian too and..yeah its very weird
@@PhotEd89 I would do this but my school fines the kids who graffitis the school :/

Great information!!! I was just introduced to Posca pens and purchased one through Amazon to try on a project of mine. This video helped me to understand the pen, and to avoid unwanted issues. Thanks!
Little tip to remember right when you buy them online:
Just pump it once. I’ve wasted so much ink on accident because I didn’t know
You walked so we could run. Thank you because my other markers needed to be pumped multiple times so i would have done the same for posca. Thank you so much.

One of the first paint pens I bought was a knock off brand from Hobby Lobby. The nib fell out and when I tried to stick it back in the spring made it shoot across the living room.
Still haven’t found it.
Sarah Brooks same, mine was like a dollar each, and it was SO transparent. Never again lolol
I bought some paint pens from daiso, 1.50 each, and they were pretty fantastic. The lower quality was pretty obvious when I started using posca pens, but it didn’t minimize how much it taught me about using paint markers. The biggest downside was the smell, it was pretty strong and the caps would sometimes get glued on with the dried paint. But, if you wanted to give paint markers another try, I’d recommend those.
I bought some knock off paint pens and they were terrible! I’m really hoping to get some poscas soon, because I’ve seen so many good reviews!

Pulling out the nib is is a great tip thank you! I pulled mine out, blew through it and it started working again right away!

Oh. In fact, in France, all art stores are selling Posca. That's a basic here. I use them for years now haha i'm so surprised!
Oh wow !
Englands had them since before i was at college 10 years ago 😬
They got a massive rebrand because they got popular in the graffiti scene

I love my white Posca pen, and use it like whiteout, constantly. Whiteout yellows, and posca does not ^-^
@@summergood7851 I would love to help, but I don't really know what you are trying to say, could you please be more specific?
paranoiaprincess I’ve never tried them but I also imagine that if you use it as whiteout then it’ll also keep the surface matte or rougher so you can draw over it, unlike whiteout which makes it glossy
Thank you so much this is so helpful
I have just tried POSCA on Daler Rowney linen textured surface paper for acrylics. Works beautifully. No pilling at all.

I been using these along with spray paint. Great markers 👍
Here in Europe Posca pens are pretty popular! Back in high school, all my artsy friends were super fond of them because you can draw on almost anything with them (notebooks, binders, pencil cases, desks...) and they come in a lot of fun colours. And the fact that they're not cheap made them really treasured possessions.
I’ve discovered that Bristol paper (I use the strathmore brand) works well with Posca pens. I’ve noticed little to no pilling at all!
Canvas is pretty good.
Thanks for showing the tip sizes!!
LOVE my Posca Pens. I use them in my card making and Zentangle. All I use them with is paper/card stock.
Never heard of a Posca pen until now...

i feel digitally influenced.
I just bought my first pack today!! They arrive on sunday! How are they?
Wow this was helpful! thank you so much!
That jumbo marker right there is a Graff writers best friend
I'm a graffiti artist and I've been using those pens for many years and I do really like them. The only other paint pen that competes is the Molotow 1 for all acrylic paint pens. They offer a different color palette then the posca and they come in several different nib sizes and they offer interchangeable nibs.
There's 4-5 comparable western brands if you can live with 20-30 color sets. But yea in the 50+ color set it's just Posca and Molotow. And If you like hard plastic tips like the crossover tips then almost any other brand/line is better than one4alls.
So glad to hear you talk about the rough tips! I’ve ALWAYS found my POSCA pens to be a little rough on the paper and I try to use them lightly and carefully to avoid pulling. I always assumed I had a faulty batch so it’s good to hear that this is just how they are... 🤷♂️
Hi
When I saw the title I was expecting a runthrough of different sized and shaped tips on the pens!
I now learned a new word, "Nibs" :D
Great vid!
Thanks I'm getting this on Thursday
I found my posca pens at my local Michael’s store and was able to use the 40% off coupon ! Very happy gal over here 😁
OH HECK YES
i love how its wrapped in plastic. it means that when they display them at shops nobody can open the lids and make them dry out or waste the ink. ans also you will know which pens have been opened. i love it
it contributes to so much plastic waste:-( they could probably use a paper safety seal
@@pinkalligator6302 yea they could but it wouldn't be as strong
It’s very helpful
i know I am very late to comment but I work at a craft store people still open them all the time.
@@pinkalligator6302 Oml stop, sometimes plastic is necessary, don't cry over 2 grams of plastic lmao.
XPaoFey Acrylic Paint Markers are a game-changer for my art. The color range is amazing, and the dual-tip design is super versatile. The paint flows smoothly, dries fast, and the vibrant finish is top-notch. They've become my go-to choice!
I don’t have Posca but I’m getting them on Thursday and I pretty understand this. Thanks for the tips!
In Italy, you find uniposca EVERYWHERE.
Exactly
Same in France lmao
Yeah because of graffiti
No c'è ora mi dici dove lì posso trovare
WTF I'VE NEVER SEEN THEM??? i've seen copics tho... (i have one but i don't like them at all aaaa)
This brings back good memories. Uni Posca’s were very popular in the Netherlands. Early nineties all cool kids at my highschool had these for graffiti tagging. I started using Uni Posca’s myself when i was studying architecture and always had much success using them for presentation drawings on coloured paper. I still have some pens lying around. Will look for them and introduce them to my kids :)
I’m a bit late to the posca party but I now really want to try them out properly. I use them for line art but have never tried to create a full piece. I’m surprised you didn’t mention gesso as an option, because I’ve heard a lot of people use that 🤔
Been using posca pens for about 35yrs they are much more popular in Europe. Very easy to get in UK. Got a new 12 pack about a month ago at The Range. Great for graff. And they're all in English. Great video. Thanks.
I do a lot of graffiti, and yes. Poscas still are nearly everyone’s favorite. Whether it be work on paper, or tags on signs, Poscas are the go to.
Yeah, I love doing handstyles with the huge chisel tip ones. I also put a bit of clear coat on posca tags since they’re water based, just helps it last longer
I order posca markers and it’s gonna be here in Friday and I love posca they smooth and satisfying
Well done. very helpful and to the point vid. Love from Europe 💞
When this video came out, I watched it and added posca pens to my wish list. I just bought them (finally!) and I’m happy to re-watch the video and figure these cool pens out!
03:05 I always say that if you are struggling to open any Japanese product package, you are most likely doing it wrong 💪💪
That was great! Thanks!
Thank you so much for your tips.
I remember my Japanese friend getting some for me when she went back to Tokyo for a visit. I had no idea they existed before that, lol. Now I know how amazing they are and very grateful for them
A Posca pen project for fun that looks amazing:I use the amazing Posca pens primarily for mixed media, mostly abstract paintings on canvas. She was saying at the end if you push the nib down too hard, the paint will stream out (or something to that effect). That feature is built into the Posca pens on purpose. The nibs retract perfectly back into the pens housing if you push down on the nib. What I do is have my canvas on a 45 to 90 degree angle. I push down on the nib and it releases streams of acrylic paint (that is what Poscas color is made of) that drip brilliantly down your canvas or paper.. If you do it a number of times, depending on what effect you are going for, you can use one color, or twenty if you like. It makes a better effect than the 'drip method' with acrylic pens and water. It can use up a lot of the Posca markers paint, so can be rather expensive. A lot of people do the rain effect. This is where you draw or paint, or use Posca markers to draw a person holding an umbrella. Push down on the nib of the marker with canvas or paper on a board at around a 75% angle. Use one color, or 20 (large pen). Have the person and their umbrella taped off with masking tape. You can pause, then start flow again a few times to look more like real rain (from Mars?). Fill paper with rain. Do at an angle as well to give a wind effect. Let dry, frame, hang in your child's bedroom.
That so much
I am going to start using posca pens but I don't know a lot about them so I clicked on this video and it has really helped ❤️😆
Thank you for this video! I just ordered my first pack of metallic Poscas last week.
Oooh, hope you have fun with 'em!!
@@KaseyTheGolden Thank you! I'm sure I will. I wanted to ask..do you ever prime the surface you're working on before you use them? I work a lot on wood panels and wondered if I'd have to add anything (like gesso) before using the Posca pens
You're amazing Kasey, I love your energy and your art❤️❤️❤️😊
I haven't used posca pens on bristol paper, but I would recommend trying it. It might pill up less than on watercolor paper; it is specifically made for markers so it is extremely smooth and fairly thick.
I use Bristol, and your intuition is correct. It’s awesome for Posca…but it still pills up. I do like it, though.
As a beginner wit poscas this was a very helpful video.

Extra tip if you fly with your activated Posca Pens: pressure can build up in the pen and cause uncontrolled paint flow. To fix it, hold pen vertically, nib up, and push it against something sturdy to release pressure.

It's strange that to you posca pens are a "new" thing in stores, here in Milan (Italy) i remember them in stationery stores at least since I was 11 (2010) and even earlier in elementary school
But art is a way bigger part of culture in Italy. So I guess, it isn't that weird after all.
they were super popular in the 80s! my mom says that every kid wanted them to decorate their backpacks, shoes, school diaries, etc...
@@fuggiola they were probably a simmilar concept, and posca pens took the ideea and resold it, bringing back a long forgotten concept and apparently having a lot of succes

I appreciate the individual wrapping, that way you know people haven't been messing with them while the sit at the store.
I won some from Jessica Rocks on UA-cam. I just got them and haven't ever had any before. Thank you for the tutorial!!
I've totally damaged the nib on a new Posca pen, so it definitely can happen to them.
When I was younger, we covered the windows of the school with posca pens drawings, they're great for working on glass :')
I have found that Canson XL water color paper works really well as paper for posca too! =O It pills very little, but the rough surface causes splattering with the 1m plastic nibs, so be careful when using those!
Very informative!
