This is a really good demonstration for migrating from G Suite to O365. Google has upgraded to Google Workspace Suite, so quite of few of the task that need to be configured are there, but some of the menus are not in the same location as the demonstration, or some of the tasks appear before they are mentioned in the video. One trouble spot that I was not able to overcome, is the authentication with the service account. Does not matter what email is listed, an error message displays stating the lack of permissions. An updated video would be great, but this one is awesome!!

Warning to those who are using this video. It does not follow the procedural order of Microsoft documentation but it is very helpful. It is the best video on UA-cam that I could find.
Things have changed over the last 2 years in Google Workspace (G Suite). It was hard to find a few things in the Admin Console. Be aware that new migrations require a bit of time to search and become familiar with the newer Google Workspace Cloud and Admin dashboard layouts.
Exchange Online has automated quite a few of the later migration steps in Google Workspace (G-Suite). When you run the MS365 migration wizard, it will prompt for Google credentials to automatically apply the changes within Google. The automatically created configuration had to be reviewed and a few things manually configured to get it working for me.
Google is quite slow to apply some of the changes. It can take awhile, so be patient. Syncing the mailbox was also a bit slow.
If you could add time markers with titles for the steps, it would really help. Overall, it helped me get through everything to figure this out. Thank you for the video.

Fantastic documentary on a G-Suite to O365 manual API migration, including the contacts and calendar data. You made the process very simple and easy to follow. Thank you very much for the time you put into doing all this. I had an academic understanding of DNS and email prior to this but thanks to this I now have practical experience and real world understanding too. Much appreciated sir.

    Hey there - nice video!
New Exchange Management UI in O365 will automatically create all the configuration, project, API access etc for a GSuite Migration - I cant get a screenshot but there is an entry in the new gui that save a lot of time setting all of this up. Its visible undet the migration page.
Also - if you can accept downtime you don't need to bother with the alias email domains or forwarding addresses. A full GSuite migration works but every mailbox migration appreas to fail at the completion stage - this is because the migration tool attempts to set a forwarding address (and tried 60 times). Then it cant do it 'fails'. This is a soft fail as the mailbox and all the migration works fine. Calendar, contacts and content migrates across with no issue.
Again - this requires downtime for either the source mailboxes or the target. There is no co-existence but its very easy to accomplish with minimal downtime.

I also encountered the same error at the end "Synced with errors". However, its takes ages to migrate the emails over. A mailbox with only 6 emails (around 3MB) took 1 hour to migrate! Did you also come across this? Ant way of speeding up the migration?

    1) Internal emails end up in spam, how to fix it?
    2) After migration If i send mail from gmail, then there is nothing in outgoing messages in ms 365 mail

While using two way email one should understand about adding SPF records and idea behind adding multiple SPF entries in one record, otherwise you will receive emails in spam which are having same domain and sent from Google Workspace and vice versa from Office 365 to google workspace

Hi Ray Sandip, have you checked how labels in gmail are interpreted in exchange online? If you have one email with 2 labels in gmail, then the email is duplicated to 2 folders in exchange. I am assuming that scenario because that is what is happening when you use Outlook for desktop as client for gmail.

Great video but one thing is not clear. Microsoft documentation indicates that when a migration is completed, forwarding from ms to gsuite is removed (as you said) but also that forwarding is automatically added from gsuite to ms (while you showed how to do this manually). What's your experience with this? It does make sense that the migration tool would do this automatically but I haven't verified it actually does (yet).

What if you skipped the sub domains setup and skipped the forwarding setup...and instead you just leave the batch migration running for several days after you switch the MX record from Gsuite to Office365? Wouldn't the batch migration keep syncing received emails from Gsuite to Office (in case any msg got routed to Gsuite while all the DNS records were getting updated)?

I would like to add that you need to have the correct TXT record for o365.domain.com and for gsuite.domain.com from google it must follow the logged-in admin (google says each admin has its own string) or it will fail when verifying the domain in the Google suite.

    • @praveengarnayak5666
      @praveengarnayak5666 3 роки тому

There is TWO things you need to check
1- Have you created sub-domain on your domain registrar? If not please create, once you created it will automatically added TXT record (host- o365/gsuite, value- something like ~all) then you have EDIT that and put TXT value whatever given by Google.
2- Make sure you have the super admin access in Gsuite.
Even I was facing same issue last 2 days finial, I figured out today and migration Done successfully.
I hope this helpful for you!

Thank you very much, this is great. In 35:35 you said you were going to update with a PowerShell script to bulk add the user alias and external email forwarding. Did you manage to do it? If so, could you please lead me there? Thank you very much again.

Some users in my organization want to use GSuite and some want to use Office 365. Do you see any problems setting up the alias' and forwarding and allowing users to chose which mailbox to use while keeping main domain MX records in GSuite?

Shouldn't be a problem aside from doubling your cost

ITProGuide your tutorial got me father than my previous attempts at migration, but I still got stuck. During my migration (2 out of 3 users in my small company synced) I got the following error "The subscription for the migration user ____ couldn't be loaded. The following error was encountered: A subscription wasn't found for this user." This error message shows up for all three users, including the two whose status is "synced." The third user shows as "syncing" but no progress is being made in the # of items synced. I searched online for answers and found a Microsoft page a solution was to stop and then restart the migration batch. I tried this but immediately encountered the same error. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I had this problem as well. Try deleting the migration batch that the user was in then re-creating it. As long as you don't complete a batch, you can delete and re-create it.

little old topic but maybe someone will find it useful :)
The command is commented, so it's safe to do the dry run before we mess something up :)
      $aliasDomain = 'o365.yourdomain.com'
      $forwardingDomain = 'gsuite.yourdomain.com'
      Get-Mailbox | ForEach-Object {
      $userName = $_.Identity
      $userAlias = ($_.Primarysmtpaddress.Split("@")[0])+'@'+$aliasDomain
      $userForwarding = ($_.Primarysmtpaddress.Split("@")[0])+'@'+$forwardingDomain
      $userName
      $userAlias
      $userForwarding
      Write-Host '-------------------'
      #Set-Mailbox $userName -EmailAddresses @{add=$userAlias} -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $true -ForwardingSMTPAddress $us
      erForwarding

    Hi Brother,
    Please help me, Domain-wide Delegation
Granting this service account access to your organization's data via domain-wide delegation should be used with caution. It can be reversed by disabling or deleting the service account or by removing access through the Google Workspace admin console. I am unable to check the Domain-wide Delegation option.
kindly anyone drops the answer here, I am facing this issue while completing the Service Account

You have to add the DNS entries to your provider DNS management
