Salute ! I Too Am From Pittsburgh ! Was in Combat 1968 Vietnam Tet ! I go to the Pgh .VA , He was long Gone ! Wish I could have met Him ! He was a Real Man ! Real Hero ! Again I Salute Him !
Very few Kids today have a clue what these brave warriors did. Absolute backbones of steel, I, for one couldn’t do what they did, I hold my hands up to this. RIP Hero, you deserve the rest ❤of
“AIRBORNE”, soldiers don’t regard themselves as heroes but just doing what had to be done. In the history of Army paratroopers, 1sg Funk actions during World War Two speak for themselves. In my book, the nation’s book, and the Airborne’s book he is a Hero. “AIRBORNE”.
I served with the 3rd Bn 325th Abn Inf 2nd Brigade 82nd Abn Div in 1968. I am always proud to read about paratroopers in WW II. In these times it worries me that our nation is in jeopardy. We must, like this paratrooper, do all we can to remain vigilant and unafraid ready to defend our way of life.
A man of unwavering courage and valor.
RIP SGT. FUNK.! THANKS.!
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE.!

You Got That Right!!
How can a guy be so brave?
It comes from being a MAN.!!! It is our mission in life to be brave!!!
It comes from doing what you have to do.
Nobody goes into combat looking for glory or medals you go in to fight alongside your buddies and to survive.
Outstanding!

REMEMBER THE FALLEN AND NEVER FORGET THOSE WHO GOT BACK UP
President Reagan had a great speech . In it he asked and answered “where do we find such men?”
salute!
Named a gym on Ft Bragg after him.
DID SURPASSED Audie Murphy as the most decorated soldier of the U.S.
I wonder if he was related to German SS soldier Otto Funk? That would mean cousin fighting cousin.
I read many sources about his story but never heard that he was, but I couldn’t say for sure either way.
