The 15MW Lusiwasi Upper Small Hydropower Station

The 15 MW Lusiwasi Upper Small Hydro Power Station is in Serenje District within Central Province. It is approximately 80km east of Serenje town on the Lusiwasi River where it descends the Muchinga Escarpment, and It is about 5km upstream of the existing Lusiwasi 12 MW Small Hydropower Station.
ZESCO aims to extend electricity supply to rural areas to promote socio-economic development by providing clean, affordable, reliable and sustainable electricity through such small hydropower plants. In addition, such projects help to mitigate the power deficit in the country and the sub-region. The increased generation capacity will contribute to the continued economic growth in the country and move us closer to achieving our mission of “making it easy for people to live a better life.
