hi, yes, it was on. even after changing it, bmw was unable to clear the codes because my srs unit was bad from the airbags deployed. (they said sometimes this happens, another way for them to sell more parts) so i had to buy new srs unit and have bmw reprogram my srs unit which took couple hours and $hundreds of dollars later everything was fine. its a beautiful car once everything is fixed.
hi, the srs unit controls the airbags and seat belts to deploy and tighten when in a accident. after accident it needs to be cleared to clear any airbag or restraint lights. some shops can do it. sometimes the unit gets damaged and can not be cleared but needs to be replaced. if it needs to be replaced it will need to be reprogrammed by bmw. that can take several hour,. which = expensive. it is located usually under the center counsel, i think in some of the 2007- 2010 bmw started putting the srs unit in the glove box area. which = much more expensive. because they put the srs unit and several other very important computers together. so if one fails the whole big expensive comp unit needs to be replaced, and reprogrammed. if you have anymore questions please ask. my 2008 bmw 535i srs unit was in the center counsel.
yes, DEFINITELY disconnect the battery when working on things like airbags or sensors. i do not know 100% if it would deploy while installing but i would not want to find out, lol, know what i mean. it would be very painful and expensive to buy another one.

Before beginning this repair, did you have to disconnect your battery? If not, didn't you have a concern of triggering an airbag deployment while performing this removal and installation?
Is this the left or the right side Seat belt buckle for the driver seat, because mine is broken and i don't know which side i should buy. Thanks for your help!
Good video, BillyQuestion: I have a 2011 5 series and backed into a pole. No airbag went off. Head restraint popped and also got the seat belt sensor warning on iDrive screen. If I fix the belt as you did her and replace the headrest mechanism, will the sensor warning go away? If not, how do you reset?Thanks!
+Huh? hi, once the airbag light turns on then the light will have to be cleared by dealer or a special obd2 code reader computer. the newer the car the harder it is to clear on a obd2 code reader computer. my car was a 2008, no code reader could clear it BECAUSE my srs unit got damaged. they get damaged because dealer will make more money from you. its a hit and miss for the srs unit to get damaged. you might luck out with a obd2 code reader, but if not then you have to go to dealer, they have the special computer for these special cars. hope this helps,

What if you only have a broken buckle? Some piece inside the buckle broke.

Hi the yellow and black box under seat that you cut the cable tye off how do you disconnect the black part?

Huh? After you change the seat buckle you can reset it with scanner c110 and good to go
