I never knew this existed. Awesome to see Sly, Cynthia, Rose, and Jerry running it back. I was born in ‘67, so my mom always had this music around. Needless to say, as soon as I could “Stand” I had to “Dance To The Music.”

In the Fall of 1967, I was a freshman at UC Berkeley. Sly was still living in his hometown, Vallejo, CA,. He had a Saturday afternoon radio show at the SF Bay Area station KDIA. I tuned in each Saturday. He released the single of Dance to the Music while he was working there. I was listening the very Saturday he announced his last show; due to the overwhelming success of Dance to the Music, he'd be going on tour. I was crushed that he wouldn't be doing the show, the very pinnacle of my Saturday afternoons, but thrilled for the band's success. So, I loved Sly Stone long before he blew up. I listened to every Sly Stone album I had every single day, and imagined the band playing those songs, L-I-V-E, with me in the audience straight grooving.

Bands like Sly & Company sang about *UNITY.* Among races.. cultures, styles of existing. Listening to their concert and feel like you've left a good preaching service. *Good for the soul.* Sadly.. bands like this are things of the past. UNLESS--- someone steps up and decides to make it cool again. Wish they would. Black music of the 50's-60's & 70's.. I loved. Even prior.. of course, the Jazz players. I am at least glad to see Sly perform here. Last I saw Sly, he was living in a small trailer and could barely speak. Seems he has pulled himself up.. with lots of help. God Bless The Sly.

    I had no TV until I was 4, 5 yr s old
I was gifted a record player at age 5 by my neighbor. A suitcase record player.
It was 1969 ish. My Dad played all genres of music all the time.
Music was our house. I wanted Sly and the Family Stone Music for Christmas.
He got me the Album. Fast Forward, Me age 15. Prince entered my Ear.
He I follow to this day even so he was taken from us. To know that Sly and the Family were his inspiration it all fits, it's not a puzzle, it's real. The amount of joy can't be measured, all I have is gratitude - I thank you.

Not by anyone who knows what's what in the least they weren't. Jeff, I am 59 first time I jumped around like crazy was to "Music Lover" my parents were playing it in 1969. Last night my wife and my kids and I were jumping and dancing to it 53 years later (by the way it gets better with Sly and time) I think they are recognized as one of the greatest. Where I think they got slighted was their individual talent. Larry was acknowledged and of course, deserved it. Sly changed everything. But I feel Freddy played wonderfully smooth and Errico had beyond blue-eyed soul in his funky amazing playing. Cynth. and Jerry was like having 12 horns, especially when a trombone sat in with them. To me, it gets no better than this band from about 66-71, lot of great music in those years, and some changed things for the better Silvester Srewarts words and music changed everything and always for the better. We need to celebrate his genius more while we still have him here, wether he wants us to or not! Thanks for the love Family Stone.

As a complete music junkie for the past 60 plus years, I think that Sly & The Family Stone were one of the most unique bands around. They were one of a small handful with their own unique style and sound and it was all because of Sly Stones musical genius as a composer and arranger and master of the band.
It's great to see Sly still making music.
