    Hermoso Mérida. Vayan a la Chaya Maya . Coman cochinita . Poc chuc. Cerveza Montejo . Visiten la ruta pucc. Es hermosa y poco visitada . Son como 6 sitios arqueológicos. Vayan a Progreso . Celestun. No dejen de ir a Izamal un pueblo hermoso. Y luego a Valladolid. Los domingos en la plaza de Mérida son muy bonitos. El paseo Montejo se hace peatonal hasta medio día y hay bailables y un gran mercado de artesanías en la plaza principal .

    Hi guys, you are doing a great job going to towns and cities suggested by followers. Merida and the Yucatan Peninsula developed isolated from the rest of Mexico in many ways because of the geography, specially the cuisine which is not spicy at all. It had more influence from Europe specially the architecture , it was the main port for sisal commerce back in the days. Visit cenotes, sisal haciendas, pink flamingos in Ria Celestun, Mayan archeological sites like Uxmal, the Eco museum of Cacao in Ticul and magical towns like Izamal and Valladolid. Good luck and have fun!

  • @ronwarfel7997
    @ronwarfel7997 5 років тому +22

    Hillary and Greg, the quality of your videos exceeds many "professional" videos I've watched over the years, you do an outstanding job with them. Merida is hot, I think last year there were like 5 or 6 days with temps above 115 degrees, but you are close enough to the sea to cool down a little if you need to. I hope you enjoy your time there and I look forward to seeing all the fun activities you find to do. I think the primary specialty of the Yucatan is Conchita Pibil, as mentioned previously, but there are many different versions and I think every one I've had over the years has been wonderful. If you get a chance, go out to Isle Holbox, it's a beautiful place. Thanks for all the videos.

    Oh my GOD! I cant believe you are in Mérida. I was born there, there are so many delicious foods for you to try that you could not eat anywhere else. You have to try cochinita pibil torta, lechon al horno, panuchos, salbutes, queso relleno, sopa de Lima, Poc chuc, etc. You really should go to the "parque de las Americas " one night, it is really beautiful and there you have to eat a marquesita. You have to go to the beach, it is gorgeous, try the seafood from there. Go to Valladolid, Chichen Itza, go to the museum in Paseo de Montejo. You really have to go to "Merida en Domingo" it's on sundays in downtown, they close many streets and there are many exhibits and free entertainment, you can rent a bike or just walk and there is plenty of food. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any information or help. I wish I was there but I live in California now. Thank you SO MUCH for showing me my hometown. I'm in tears! 😍😍😍

      Well, not as such, but at least, the Campeche baseball pro team´s nickname is "Piratas". Campeche is a walled city; these fortifications and strongholds were erected because of constant pirate raids during the XVII and XVIII centuries, you can still see artillery pieces used to defend the city. People there are extremely friendly, the food is superb and the city is extremely safe and picturesque... hey, what's not to like?

    Hay un lugar en el puerto de Las Coloradas, Yucatán, que parece el escenario de un sueño fantástico. Este espectáculo visual es conocido como “el Lago Rosa” En el caso del Lago Rosa de Las Coloradas, el proceso mediante el cual el agua se tornó de este color fue artificial y completamente accidental. En este pueblo pesquero, la industria de la sal es indispensable. Fueron los depósitos de sal que se acumularon en el lago los que tiñeron sus aguas de un espectacular tono rosado. No pueden perdérselo gringos aventureros es magnifico

    Si van a Mérida y no se toman unas champolas sería imperdonable; puede que ya las hayan probado en otro lado, pero originalmente son de Mérida; Chichenitza es bello pero esta lleno de turistas, si pueden ir que bueno, pero, también deben ir a la zona arqueológica de Dzibilchaltun y, desde luego al Gran Museo del Mundo Maya que esta ahí en la capital. ¡Que lo disfruten¡

    When I visited Mérida I was told that the food is so different from the rest of México because, in the past, the wealthy henequén (hemp) plantation owners frequently sent their kids to Europe for college, as there were no good universities in Mexico at the time, and the kids learned to love the cooking there and some even decided on culinary classes there. That’s why the sauces, especially, in Mérida are so different. One dinner, I had tortuga with pasta and a cream sauce that was very much like beef stroganoff, and delicious. Other than the food, I don’t really care for Mérida that much, primarily because of the heat and humidity, which was why I left Florida many years ago.

    amazing food. Btw those beautiful houses were mostly built around late 1800s when merida was considered the richest city in the world,richest build with production and exports of sisal.

    ¡Mérida!...Wow! The capital of the Mayan Mexico. You are right! This part is another Mexico. Right into the forests and ruled by the its tropical weather. You need to approach it gradually and with and open mind and then let the Mayan magic take its place to steal your hearts. It’s a mosaic -you will hear as much Mayan as Spanish being spoken. Beautiful at night which is the time when it wakes up from its day time dreaming and takes you to a very vivid world. The squares become bohemian, art and happy sounds. You might still found many quiet corners where time stopped just after the Spanish and Mayan cultures fusion into one!
    Don’t miss the chance to try an ice cream in the evening at Paseo Montejo! (Ice cream parlours of the 50’s )
    Greetings from England! ‘Los Mex-Brits’.
