A trick for cutting bricks without a hotwire cutter. Grab a cheap utility knife, the kind with the snap off blade. Run the blade out long. Use the long blade to cut off slices of foam. Then cut the slices into strips. Then cut the strips into bricks.
Best visual design and audio in a hobby channel? Yes. The pastel tones, old school fonts and badass 80s computer game music just fit so perfectly together. Also the videos are great
Hot tip: You can make brick and cobblestone texture with wallpaper. You do need to bump into a roll with the right texture. But it can save a lot of time compared to creating individual stones.
Top work! Can’t believe I threw away my cardboard walls from the 6th ed starter set. I’d love to see more Mordheim and terrain building in the future 🎉
Two tips for future crafting. You can use a wire brush on all things made of wood to give them a nice used structure in no time. For the cobblestones you can use plaster and then a rolling pin (I got one from Greenstuffworld). Thanks for this very nice video. It's always fun creating terrain with cheap stuff and a lot of motivation.
They do rollers for cobblestones and roads about the size of a bog roll if you ever do it again, you just slap your plaster down and roll into it. But cool as always :)
If you're gonna try making foam bricks again for a future mordheim/medieval build, then I'd like to suggest using foamboard, measure and cut long strips of it, then peel away the paper layer and cut to size and you need. This is much easier to control than just eyeballing things with the xps foam, especially for those of us without a hot wire cutter to hand.
This is my favorite UA-cam channel right now. I love all the oldhammer specific content. Great editing and vibe. I rewatch these videos while I work on my own hobby projects. It's always a good day when there's a new Anvil of Doom video.
Great idea with the recycled paint brush as brick stamp, very effective. I like your building with hand cut bricks, non uniform appearance adds its own realism. I'll have to try that plaster, sand, glue mix see how it compares to grout filler glue mix, it'll add variety to my builds.
Very cool. Like the mix of scratchbuilt and original terrain and the board texture turned out so well, though it must've driven you both mad. Good to hear Leif of Devs and Dice getting a shout out. He's one of the very best.
Another incredible one! I have the card terrain and will be doing something very similar soon! Quick tip as well, take a sharpie and just run it along the outside edges of the card terrain to make them blend in a bit more rather than have light paper color sticking out
So jealous you managed to get that box, and wonder if it was the one I was following too, haha. Small suggestion: get a sharpie (or other moist marker) and "edge highlight" all the card. It'll make the edges stand out less than being able to see the white-core.
When I heard this music, I couldn't help but instantly think I was going to be watching some good ol drain cleaning from down under on "Drain Cleaning AUSTRALIA".
Love your videos - great job as always. Might be worth checking out your audio levels though- looks like you have a nice mic but you're getting crackling when your volume is louder.
very lovely table. I can't help but wonder if there's a way to 3d print a "brick roller" or something that you could stick onto a paint roller handle and it has brick lines printed on it, so you just roll it accross the foam board instead of pressing the brick lines by hand. I do wonder if that exists, or how easy it would be to make if it doesn't yet exist.
It was a bugger to assemble in my late teens, let alone 9! Sterling job though. Dwarf Treasure Hunters were fun to play and of course my trusty undead. I miss playing Mordheim.
Dude you’ve inspired me to get my terrain sets done!! Good to see the misso helping out, what a champ 🤙🏼 loving the cardboard nostalgia though 👌🏼 every time I see Mordheim on marketplace I think of you now lol
Nice job 👍🏻 I never got into mordheim but looks interesting. I can relate to the misso not being impressed too I get some grumpy looks every time another box of Old world minis turn up in the mail 😂
I find terrain building waaaaaaaaay more relaxing - it's just so much more forgiving than mini painting. I honestly prefer the hand-cut brick look! Having access to a Proxxon definitely speeds things up, I just find that everything ends up looking too uniform and not as realistic. Was just surprised you were able to spray prime your XPS with a rattle can - just about every guide I've seen has warned about it melting the foam, unless you've sealed it first... feel like I've been lied to all this time 😩
Haha yeah it has its peaceful moments that’s for sure. Thanks mate! Yeah if you keep the can a bit further away it doesn’t melt it. Takes a few more coats though.
I like the brick and plaster effect the best. So I hear you’re after the original mordheim box? I may be able to fulfil that need if you’re interested.
Congrats on being able to finally do one of these. I think the best part about Mordheim is everything should be janky (or have some jank to it). In addition to Devs and Dice I recommend Black Magic Craft, Erics Hobby Workshop and MS Terrain Lab for more inspiration and instruction (especially MS Terrain Lab)

If you run a black sharpie around the exposed cardboard edges they’ll blend in a thousand times better
Doesn't always have to be black. Sharpies come in a ton of different colors.
Will do! Thanks for the tip dude! 🍻

Loved this vid! Your home brew buildings look *chefs kiss
Im starting my adventure with Mordheim and this video gave me some nice ideas for make terrain.
There's something so charming about the old school way GW and hobbyists made terrain. I gotta get me some cardboard, toothpicks and foam balls
Top work! Can’t believe I threw away my cardboard walls from the 6th ed starter set. I’d love to see more Mordheim and terrain building in the future 🎉
Very cool mate. Such great technique. I appreciate your talent 💕💕
So freaking cool man!

The paintbrush bricks was commitment mate haha, check out resin printed brick rollers, would save hours 😎🤙

Thanks mate! I’m glad you like how it turned out. It was a nightmare 😂 His builds are top tier!
As a fellow bricklayer’s kid, I’ve had the same feeling while making terrain
🥲
The cobblestone board looks amazing, but there has got to be a multitude of more efficient ways of going at it 😅
Great video Deets and you are a Gloriuos Bastard for finishing a life hobby goal mate ❤ were you smoking a blunt when filming the end scenes 😅
Thanks mate! 🤝 they work well as smoke machines haha 😛
I knew this video was gonna be so much fun. I appreciate how you allow yourself to just go for it. Inspirational.

The dad being a brickie line got a good chuckle out of me, cracking vid as always!
Haha I’m a family failure. Thanks mate!
Drank me coffee watching this for a second time this morning it's that informative
Fantastic mate 👍
Use some wash or paint on the white paper edges. helps alot to done that down..
Will do! Thanks for the tip
oh and the board is just amazing. I do think you should paint the white edges of the cardboard though to give it that little extra.
I like how dark and gritty the cardboard kit is, I think we forget just how dark the OG mordheim vibe was 😎🤙
This is properly amazing and my childhood dream
Mordheim, yeah!
Enjoy! 🍻
Always happy to see more dheim :)))
Really enjoyed this dude! Again so much respect for you (both) stamping out those cobbles. Many would have left that detail behind.
Great work mate, Leif’s DNA is all over this @devsdice is a wonderful channel/! A golden resource.
When I heard this music, I couldn't help but instantly think I was going to be watching some good ol drain cleaning from down under on "Drain Cleaning AUSTRALIA".
Chockers Mate! A fellow Man of culture I see.
Look out people, he's into the terrain building now, there's no stopping him!!
THIS IS AWESOME !!!!
Oh man, I can't belive someone would do those cobbled without a texture roller
Nice!!! Good job Deetz!
Devs and Dice!! I know… (IYKYK)
Love your videos - great job as always. Might be worth checking out your audio levels though- looks like you have a nice mic but you're getting crackling when your volume is louder.
Awesome video and awesome terrain, this is so much work ! Great job !

Haha I’m not going to lie, I had a couple little panic attacks while building it. Those Dwarf Treasure Hunters are some of my favourite minis 👌
great video!
Pretty sweet
Looks great. I'm hoping GW release Mordheim. I missed out on it originally so I'd love to get into proper
Very cool 😎
What a coincidence, I was thinking about these buildings just yesterday.
Wow your terrain turned out so good! Can’t wait to see more AOD battlefields!
Thanks my dude! Glad you like it!
It’s amazing, and this explains why it took so long between videos. Great work Deetz!
Hello, you are doing a very inspiring work, with great quality videos and I've juste subscribed in order to see all your new videos! Keep going mate!
You may find the brick cutting easier with a knife sharp box cutter type knife. I find the longer knife length really helps
Thanks for the tip dude!
Dude you’ve inspired me to get my terrain sets done!! Good to see the misso helping out, what a champ 🤙🏼 loving the cardboard nostalgia though 👌🏼 every time I see Mordheim on marketplace I think of you now lol
Hell yeah! Get into it man! Can’t wait to see some work on them 👊😎 She did well haha. I’m on Marketplace lurking 👀
Nice job 👍🏻 I never got into mordheim but looks interesting. I can relate to the misso not being impressed too I get some grumpy looks every time another box of Old world minis turn up in the mail 😂
This is so awesome
Smashed it
Really nice!
Thank you!
Beautiful game board! It looks terrific 👍
Thanks my dude! 🍻
Beautiful board man, I'm so jealous. Happy gaming!
Thanks my dude!

Thanks mate!
First time here. Subbed.
Thanks dude!
Kudos for doing all those cobblestones. How long did that take?
Thanks dude! It was a nightmare haha. A few hours each day for 4 days.
Great Stuff!
Cheers dude! 🤝
Lovely!
Thanks mate!
Deetz I just checked the shirt, I have the Gandalf one from the same company! Excellent taste mate.
Hell yeah! I have to get my hands on that Gandalf one as well 😎👊
I like the brick and plaster effect the best. So I hear you’re after the original mordheim box? I may be able to fulfil that need if you’re interested.
Thanks mate! Yeah I’d definitely be interested. If you have instagram hit me up and let’s have a chat :)
Can't wait to watch this with some snackies!!!
Woo!! Enjoy!!
Sweet as!
You need a cheap 3D printer, the new Cities of Ruin Campaign by Printable Scenery looks perfect for Mordheim!
Deetz, you look stright out of a fistfight, great vid anyway!
ice cream sticks???? paddle pops mate
Here's to another year of hoping GW will re-release Mordheim!!
what music is used for the intro?
Mordeheim? Insta like ❤

Cheers dude! I agree! Gives it some character. Thanks for the suggestions, I’ll check a couple out 🤝
Bro, you should give those card boards a proper edge colour. It looks really shitty (like card board) without it.
Oi when are we gonna see an Anvil of Doom Build 😂😂😂
For the Algorithm!
Inspirational.
