    I've been using my SRM225 for about 2 years now and it's still going strong. A couple pointer, that IS a speedfeed head.. if you line up the arrows on the top and bottom you can slide string straight through and then wind it up by twisting the top section clockwise. Mine also fits about 3 full span arm lengths, around 18ish feet. I use Vortex .095 which lasts a long time with this trimmer, but I will say the lighter .080 string will give you noticeably more power. This trimmer isn't a powerhouse, it's most fitted for regular maintenance.. anything overgrown or heavy duty I pull out my Stihl 130R for that.
    Also very important, the carburetor comes with a little plug in the adjustment screw (BS emissions crap), pull that shit out. I used a small screw to drive into the plug then pulled it out with some pliers. You will need to adjust this mixture screw over time to accommodate for the different weather conditions. Great lightweight trimmer that's been very reliable for me, never really had any issues with it and I've abused it

    Nice work, Dan! The SRM 225 did a great job and pairs well with the Xmark walk-behind. I just resurrected a Poulan Pro my neighbor gave me and I'm starting repairs on a Murray 21" push mower from the curb. Thanks for this video and your inspiration, Dan!

    I have owned several Echo's, mostly the 225srm, they all performed well with regular maintenance. They also had what appeared to me excessive blow-by oil drip by the exhaust. A buddy of mine suggested trying Amzoil Sabre oil at 80-90 to one mixture, which is good for 22.3 gallons of gas per quart. Also I recall it was around $10.00 per quart. I could see the savings compared to Echo oil.I am not a dealer or sponsored by anyone. The oil blow by after using Amsoil was not eliminated completely but was drastically reduced. Also the muffler was cleaner, the piston top and exhaust ports had very little carbon build up. All the Echo trimmers I used were running well with no problems, years after I sold them. Ron A

      Ron Anderson I have the same problem, leaks from the exhaust. Tried different types of oil, use marine gas and still the same. Tried using tru-fuel for an entire season.....same. I just wait till it spurts out immensely and buy a new one for $150. Can’t beat the lightweight

    Good find on that 225. I use one at work as a standby to my 130r at work. They are very agile, like you said. Much easier to throttle around delicate items. Great job, Dan!

    I love the Echo SRM225....nice and light, easy to work on and great control! Because it's a homeowner model, the down side is small fuel tank and spool capacity. Just take an extra wad of line with ya! I've two of them and they're my "finishing" sticks....to complement these I have my Stihl 111 big stick for the jungles! Enjoy that little Echo and thanks for the vids.

    Love those speed feed heads. If ur getting oil buildup around ur exhaust, its because ur not running or trimmer at a high enough rpm, or ur mixing too much oil in ur gas. Also, i use opti2 oil, burns alot cleaner than anything else ive used. Forst thing i do is take that spark arrester screen out.I use a stihl but gonna try echo next year. I love stihl, but just wanna try echo..
    Great video.. thanks

    I had to get a new carb for mine, got one on Amazon super cheap, and it was pretty easy to put on, if it still doesn't run to good after new plug, filter, screen clean, mine runs like a bomb now with the new carb. Would bog down all the time trying to give it gas, tried everything, then got new carb, runs great.

    Been watching for a couple months, your tips and tricks are very informative. I do have a question for anyone though. I have a husqvarna rider tractor, I have attempted to replace the steering shaft bushing. The first one shattered, I had the wrong angle cut on my 1 inch steel conduit, a piece of schedule 40 thickness probably. The second one went in but still cracked on one side. It's working but for how long. Would I be ok if I took my heat gun and gently warmed the new bushing to make it pliable some or should I put some graphite grease on it and tap in with my pipe over the shaft. Thanks in advance if anyone can give me a little advice for a good fit after fix

    I Love echo. Good product at a great price. Good value. I’ve used Stihl and other brands as well. Echo has never let me down. Funny story. When I bought my first Echo trimmer the SRM 225 I didn’t know about the speed feed head. Stupid me used that thing for two years not knowing about the speed feed head or that I had one on the trimmer already. Then I seen a video on the speed feed head by Echo. I’m like I gotta get that head. Yup you guessed it. I had the speed feed head the whole time. For two years I loaded the line the hard way. What is the ole saying. You gonna be dumb you better be tuff. LOL. Anyway. I enjoy your videos much. Thanks.

    LOL! Yeah, here in the South we steam our meatballs way too hot! Your work trailer is looking sharp these days, seems like you are growing! Glad you got a call-back on the property... a great professional and courteous experience wins them over every time. What kind of edging blade are you using on that Echo SRM225?

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  5 років тому

      Thank you. The SRM is a weedeater not an edger. The edger that I use is the Stihl KM 90 power head with the straight shaft attachment. The edger blades that I use are linked in the video description. They’re called something like USAA blade or something like that, I buy them in bulk from Amazon

    Looks like the SpeedFeed 350. Mine holds three arms of .095. Not sure I'm that crazy about it either. Line has to be real straight to go through the far hole. A little clunky feeding out too.

    • @DansVlog
      @DansVlog  5 років тому

      Three arms length is definitely a small amount of line. Good for me is I only do a few yards a day but for a full time lawn guy, that would piss me off

      Health and dental Insurance for my boys and myself along with 401k and company contributing to my 401k. Taxes being paid, child support coming directly out of my pay along with a sense of security, sick days and vacation pay sweeten the deal. With my 9-5, all I have to do is show up, do my job and go home ... no stress, no responsibilities. Side Hustling lawns is fun. I enjoy taking my time and doing a great job at a fair price and not worrying about hurrying along cause I got 8 or 10 more to do before the rains come. In other words, after 30 years of mowing lawns, I now once again love it.

    might be a silly question but does a string trimmer require a spark arrestor?

    • @DansVlog

      In certain states it’s mandatory so I am certain every manufacturer that is reputable has a spark arrester in the muffler for two cycle equipment. I just did a tuneup video on the SRM today and will be posting it in the morning, I removed the spark arrester during the tuneup
