Dan's Vlog thanks Dan 😎👍
Dan you have come along ways with your video editing. Kudos to you. Awesome video as usual
I've been using the cross blade method on my Gravely for years, it works fantastic. Great Job!!!
Dan, first I'll say I've been subscribed all season, and love the vids and channel. Keep up the good work! I bought a Toro mx4250 zero turn this spring to do my acre here at home. Your "Gravely ztx42 20 hour review" got me hooked on your channel, very informative. In march 2015 I had a stroke, and was paralyzed completely on the right side. spent a month in the hospital, therapy, all that good stuff, and thank God I feel 100% better now, went from barely being able to talk, and in a wheelchair, to walking, biking, mowing lol. So I was a truck driver, and the law says you have to wait 1 year for medical recertification after a stroke. I waited, and went back last March to get recertified. Everything went fine, and I got recertified, and went back to trucking. Then in July, I got a better job offer, working for Waste Management, and went back to do a pre-employment physical, and had the doctor tell me he was revoking my current certification. So I lost my current job, and the new job on the same day. I've applied twice for social security disability, even went to a lawyer, but I was rejected both times. I said all that to say all this, your work ethic has really inspired me, and next spring I'm going to start my own lawn care company here in Minnesota(fine fescue hell lol). I nearly bought your exact model Gravely, but the dealer was surly, and the Toro dealer was much more genial and willing to deal. Plus Toro is headquartered here in MN. But I'm still envious of your three bladed Gravely. I did not know that it was triple bladed when I was looking at it, or I might have choose it. Anyway, I just wanted to reach out, sorry for the wall of text. For what it's worth, you're the most realistic lawn guy on youtube. Thanks for the videos!
Thank you buddy and I am very happy things are working out for ya and you are doing bettet.
You are an inspiration, glad you shared your story. Thanks
Dan, looks like you mowed it more than twice. You did I great job. Thanks for sharing.
Another video added to my "Relaxing" playlist. Great job.
Very nice job! I had never seen a cross bladed rig before and the results were super!
That was one incredible mulching job. After an intense mulching like that, I'd follow up with a 36-3-7 Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash fert treatment, with a 'LOT' of watering to work everything deep down into the soil. Bermuda, Bermuda Hybrids like Tiff and Zoysa love Nitrogen, it gives it that dark green shade.
Your mowing skills drive me crazy
+spacegiant12 Xanax and you'll be aight!
Dan i been watching your videos for over a year now....so inspiring and to Myself and my Brother... We run an Automotive repair facility out of Georgia and ever since i caught a glimpse of one of your videos i been hooked ...every day before work i click on a video and after work i click another one... just wanted to say I really love em' and enjoy them ...i could watch you work all day. keep up the good work...such and honest and simple way to make work enjoyable. you "are ' the man in my book.. so i am keeping you in my Prayers brother you rock...GOD BLESS YOU DAN>>> thank you so much for all the helpful hints and tips i have learned so much for my own personal tasks....again thank you so much GOD BLESS YOU and keep those videos coming...>>>>
Thank you Reggie! I wish you and your brother the best of luck with your business
Dan much respect on what you do. I really enjoy your videos, similar things that you do I’ve started doing so thank you so very much for putting it up. Just letting you know somebody in Iowa are watching thank you. Gotta have pride in everything you do.
In West Texas...even overgrown, this is a very nice lawn. I'd still take it any day of the week over the horrendous weed infested lawns we deal with.
Great video. 5 stars.
Good mowing sir - especially with the pine needles which are a bear by themselves. Thank you for posting.
+Tim Brown Thank You Tim
That gravely mower is a very solid machine !!
Good job!! Nothing to pick all disappeared. Pro job at hand.
I purchased a gravely zt xl about 3 months ago. One hell of a machine!
That is some serious mulching! I can only imagine after weeks of rain and in your case...a hurricane, getting all the yards done is more than a chore. Great job, love your vids!
+John Counsell Thanks John
i am impressed. you are a master of magic mulching. mulching like this, reducing clippings and leaves to such small pieces, is healthier for the grass in the long run. great job.
It’s actually too much mulching but this was just a one time demonstration of how the cross blades can work as I continue to intentionally build up more and more clippings to mulch. This is absolutely not the right way to do a yard, it’s just a demo to show the blades but I do appreciate your comment very much.
I have been used cross blade for years now, even on my old weelhorse 8hp, (single blade) it makes cotting so much easier
It give so much more cotting power, it cot easyli a foot high graas 😀
Same here, since the mid 90's. I may have tried stacking blades, but switched early on to cutting a section out of the center of one blade and having them TIG welded together at a shop. They work great, really good for mulching.
I love the finish the cross blades give!
It's amazing how those blades rip through that stuff.
I really like that mower. Sweet
Like your work ethic dan. Good job.
good job, like that. that one is pretty tough one. impressive
Excellent video! I've never seen crossblading but boy did it do the job. And I love your mower, I'm actually thinking of getting one got my Emerald Zoysia.
I'll have to try the cross-blading....looks great when it was done.
oh god dan... I bet that was a good workout for your mower and good job
thumbs up for the real time mowing thumbs up tripple for the great slowmotion shots absolute beautiful my friend i just subed to you
I put an X blade setup under my ztr over the weekend.
I put the Ballard X blade adapters and 6 Oregon high lift blades under it.
I absolutely love it.i don’t think I will ever run 1 blade per spindle again.
The X blade setup turned the mower into a completely different machine
Big Difference!
Mowers bulletproof. Good job.
Interesting concept, using x blades. Never occurred to me, being a super z owner I fear no yard and need no extra help. Hey, if it improves your performance, go for it!
Nice clean work at that job. 👍
i have those same wireless ear buds in the begining!
I thought you did as well as you could have with the way it looked. Great job and many blessings.
+Lewis Shrader Thank You, Lewis
I feel for you, I have six acres and it has a lot of pine trees (I hate pine trees), never heard of "Cross Blade", thanks for sharing!
"Blew everything to mulchable areas" I think I say that once a week to my guys!
I hate seeing all these hateful comments from people who are sitting around but you are doing something you love so don't stop man!
+S7 Scorpion Their hateful comments are welcomed. I make bank on their ignorance
Thanks Man! I had already figured it out a little while back, but thanks for explaining how to see the links in the description with a cell phone! I don't know why other UA-cam people don't take 45 seconds to explain that!
Thanks Dan good video and shows what using the X-blade setup can do......pine needles are tough to mulch but it looks like that setup did the job......some people seem to forget the invaluable nutrition does for the soil and grass the bio breakdown is essential for the eco system and no doubt in the long run this helps preserve your need to mow it again....why deny the soil these nutrients
Zero turn mowing in circles....nice!
that was pretty cool.good job!keep the videos coming.God Bless!!!!
You did a great job today have a good weekend and a good holiday on Monday.
Same to you
@@DansVlog thank you and your your walcome .
I just watched a guy mow for 30 minutes.... What the hell am I doing with my life
LOL Sorry man... LOL
Lol, your all good, you just did what we all just did, we’re are we all in our lives today lol.
Damm, it got me too for a half-hour, there goes lunch!
It’s addicting
@@DansVlog how much?
outstanding work!! ✌😀
nice one Dan.. kicking grass.. :)
Fantastic job. Well done
Hey Dan. Today is 2020 Jan 2nd. Happy New Year. it is fun to watch an older vlog from you. All the best in 2020!! 💪
Just a helpful hint when your going over yards to disperse the cut grass try lifting the deck all the way it seems to go quicker
Deck is all the way up
great video. that mowers a beast
That cross blade method is interesting. Never seen that before!
It’s an old technique used back in the 80’s and maybe earlier than that.
Hey man did you use some sort of bracket to keep the blades at x pattern or is that not necessary
I repowered an older 60 inch gravely with a Kawasaki FX921V 31 hp carbureted engine that would throw grass almost twice as far with only 3 blades. The model you have has a different underside vacuum pressure for the deck than most mowers making it capable of more. Nice mower just don’t favor the Kohler 6 & 7000 series engines. Identical to the predecessor “courage” (single and twin cylinders) models that always cracked the block behind the starter due to excessive vibration and the 4 crankcase bolts loosening. Although they sport the new metal rocker covers and revised crank and camshaft profiles with an aesthetically pleasing air cover 👍🏻
Dang what's with all the negative comments a bunch of amateurs acting like they know what they're talking about I think it was a great way to show people how crossblades work good job
+Main Office They are a bunch of bitches with gang mentality from FB Groups that can't think for themselves. Thank you for seeing this video for exactly what it is, just a demo
Your right it is a great way to show how cross blades work. I am going to try it on a few properties and see what I think. Now no matter what pine needles don't mulch very well in a situation like this I would bag for sure and avoid going over it 1k times and grinding it back into the lawn ( just my opinion) but it's a great way to mulch leaves
Mark vaars thank you Mark. That is exactly the point of this video. I'm just showing how cross blading works and what you got to do in this situation
Danny, ur mower sounds and cuts great.
Thank you
this video is a trip!
You should get an Advanced Chute System. Nice video! I also have a Kohler 7000 Series in my Bad Boy ZT Elite, love the power!
best lawn channel!
I think so too!!! LMAO!
+Dan's Daily Vlog haha foreal though no fantasy editing or music straight up business lol
You work so hard
He cuttin the shit outta that grass 👷🏼🤝
This lawn was made for a beast lawnmower like yours 😆
Thank you
Nice !! Up here in Ct, I will mow it normally with the stripes but just double or triple cut it. That grass you have looks to be rugged ! And almost no one has a chute even on their mower deck.
Look good like always man
Dan it has been raining good here today it is after 9 and it is thundering, lighting, and raining hard. That yard looked good after you got a hold of it.
Thanks Mark! Stay Dry!
i notice a big difference between my 36" toro walk behind mower and my 42" john deere rider in cut... what do you recommend on the rider since i have to use it on bigger yards , im currently useing the gator mulch blades , should i switch to a high lift blade ? your feedback is appreciated ...
Man that look nice at the end but a mess at the beginning and enjoy watching your videos and I thought about starting my own business doing over grown property’s big or small but I used to help a friend with his lawn care company and was nice and enjoyed it we mowed edge and trim and blow and go and he also did small property clean up and liked that and he bought a used walker with bagger there expensive mower and he used gator blades especially doing property clean ups they worked good and the small finish mower and bush hog
FREAKING AMAZING!!!
Good job, Dan!
Thank you
Dan that was impressive. I need an upgrade on my equipment but funding is not in the budget. When I get it together I'm looking into a Gravely. They are nice powerful mowers. I have always had my sights on a Walker with the box grass catcher. Great video!!
+Will Thompson Thank You Will. Keep saving your money and watch a lot of vids of many different machines so you can make a good decision
Awesome. I like how you mulch it up
Thanks 👍
So. Satisfying.
Wicked skills! Thanks for sharing. That's awesome
have you tried the x blades with a mulch plate on the deck? seems like it would work alot faster and less time running over bigger piles of debris. Just wondering how it would work, interested in getting a zero turn.
Wow, that came out to be a pretty nice and clean cut considering how tall the grass was!
Thank you. Not just tall but so full of pine needles. Also, I am cutting with the deck all the way up.
A designed rear discharge would be nice 70per.of the mowed row would land on the cut grass behind. It would help cutting and moving the cut grass 3or4 times. Could it be done.
Like others, I got hooked into the *whole video*. Here's why:
1) Down-to-earth real guy. Somebody you could see havin' a beer with.
2) Taught me something new (had never seen cross blading before)
3) Cool equipment (I just bought a Gravely HD52 myself last Friday)
4) Satisfying job to watch get *completed*--mesmerizing pattern & that thing SHREDS (literally)
5) Long continuous shots--not the frantic cut/cut/cut/cut of so many videos
6) Just the sounds of the beast! Guys. love. motors! NO CHEEZY/ANNOYING MUSIC!
From Fri to today (Mon) I put my first 5 hrs on the mower (first mower of any kind I've ever owned in my life) through some gnarly, heavy, wet growth --but NOW I know how I ought to shred the rest of the overgrown acreage for the first cut of the year!
Thank You, Dan!
Thank you very much
I gotta get these for my John Deere D110 rider!
Organic matter is good for the lawn. Great video
Yes! Thank you!
Harbor freight special. "Corded Impact wrench"
Thanks for the help with the description
Nice job there big guy
Keep up the good work!
Thank you
Great job buddy!
Thanks for the visit
I've done the x blades on walkbehind just never a zero. since you're adding that extra 1/4" or so with the extra blade, do you figure that in when you set your cutting height or does it not really make that much of a difference.
I raise my deck 1/2 inch due to these blades having a more aggressive drop. But I don't raise it anymore than that for x blading. Not really doing this very much and will only do it where I want to rip thru some nasty crap.
I gotcha. Yea I figured you'd have to adjust a little. It surely does the job tho. Another great video brother.
CountrysideLawnNY you just answered the question for yourself lol. Any professional on good turf can see and tell 1/4 differences, especially when sun hits just right. Just go up a 1\4 and it's no bigge!
Strangely satisfying
Sadly, this is what most of the lawns I mow are like, with the addition of rocks, shale, dirt patches, ruts, roots, branches, dog poop, and other Oklahoma fun. It's common for me to end up brown covered in dust and dirt. And, "Oh I just want it done about every 3 weeks." SMH The only one without debris and all the BS is my own. I'm debating on planting trees lol. I hate not having shade but it sure it nice not dealing with leaves and debris. IT WILL NOT BE PINES!
Thank you for showing the cross blade technique. I'll have to try it on my BadBoy Outlaw.
I have 1/3 acre and a Snapper tractor 38 inch mulching deck. I had 3 big pine trees., a big oak tree, several big hardwood trees, and a big magnolia tree. I spent more of my time mulching and raking leaves and pine straw than cutting grass . Also I visited the doctor every 2 or 3 weeks to get medicine for sinus infections. I was covered in dust when finished. That little 24 year old Snapper almost got killed from all that work but it's life has been saved. Over the years I had all the trees cut down except for one little dogwood. My yard is now fully covered in grass and dust is not an issue at all. No sinus infections. It was no fun cutting my grass and seeing the yard turn brown covered in pine straw and leaves 2 days later. Cutting down those trees was the best $3000 I ever spent. My neighbors appreciate that big oak being gone and no more leaves from it in their yards too.
Thanks for the comment for that little triangle when you hold your phone vertical I did not know that existed good job
I wish my yard was that easy and nice!
+LiL Hustler Awesome! maybe you will like this video too: ua-cam.com/video/D4QuGOi2cNQ/v-deo.html
Crossblading truly does help
James Easley It sure does make a huge difference
Hi dan great video always great job dan
Thank you Jorma
Welcome dan
That's some serious thatch. You can really see it with the low angle shots by the sidewalk.
You make it all look like a piece of cake. The final cut looks great. If I'd never seen the lawn before you cut it, I would have never known there was a problem. While some suggest bagging would have been quicker/easier/cheaper, I like the idea of mulching the nutrients back into the soil. It's more natural, and no carting it away. Plus the whole point of the video was to demonstrate using cross blades in a difficult scenario. You seem very conscientious with attention to detail regards your work. If I had a lawn, which I don't (live in a high rise), I would be delighted to have you mow my lawn! Living in Australia 🇦🇺 might also be a deal breaker lol.
Man! I wish my yards down here looked as good as this one
CHOPPER Gaming Thank You.
we mow stuff thats sometimes close to 4 foot tall, and if you use scag then you dont need to cross balde
Out of all your lawn equipment your 36 exmark walk behind is your favorite mower
Nice job
your a very skilled operator of your moe
At the 3:54 minute mark you mention edging and trimming first. When I watched other lawn maintenance videos I never could understand why they didn't that first. I was in the business for about 5 years; always edged and trimmed first as it was cleaner when you got done. Amazed at the 6 blade configuration.
I will try to talk about it in todays video (Nov 8th)
Mayford Davis thats right man ,snip then mow then blow.
yea weed wack first so when yu go to low yur lawn looks like you outlined it. no proper way would be to edge first mowe then weed wack.....
When you trim first your often trimming way more then u have to to make up for those tight spots... when your doing alot of lawns in a day that extra trimming adds up.. usually trim after so can see how much actually had to be trimmed depending on how good guy on mower is meaning how close he gets
Also when you edge first the dirt sticks to the concrete if u run it over also trimming first u end up over weed eating
That mower wrily cut smooth =)
+Mr Forrest maybe you will like this video too: ua-cam.com/video/D4QuGOi2cNQ/v-deo.html
Bro I mowed 2ft grass today! I used a Kubota diesel zeroturn
This summer I bought my first Stihl weed eater string trimmer it's a Stihl fs56 RC with a auto speed feed trimmer head
It's a great trimmer!
that's one bad ass zero turn
Works like a champ
