Hungarian listener here. Thank you so much for the work you do. I live in the UK ( South West of England) and I experience this place being ''barren'' mentally. Listening to your stories helps me to remember who I am. They don't have any storytelling around here...
You are a great man Eddie and for me this podcast is a touch of old fashioned comfort in an awful mad world where tradition is dying in front of our eyes
When you speak of a child's death, funeral it makes me think of time as a boy and new Catholic of sixteen my friend much older than I was lost he baby of less than one year. We went to Our Lady Of Sorrows church in Santa Barbara California we knelt down at the Pieta and prayed. The funeral hosts was grief stuck although he'd see much.
That was just tremendous. I saw bits and pieces of these customs being continued in my years in Ireland and it was wonderful to recognise a little of them.
Mr. Lenihan, congratulations on your new book! We'll be waiting for it and for future podcast episodes. Thank you so much for all the content so far 💗 17:21 May they rest in peace
Eddie , I'm thrilled to hear about your new book Military Memories as I have a massive interest in this particular field shall we say ... So wishing you the very best of luck on finishing your book and big congratulations !... I am so looking forward to it a mammoth task I can imagine to cover such times . I shall now resume play and listen to the rest of your podcast ! Thank you in advance😊
I heard a banshee last Saturday in Broad daylight. On my way to A place l visited S. Killian's Well. The Gate to the well was open ... which is unusual. I made my offerings and said my prayers. As l turned to leave, l heard a keening sound in the road hedge. I couldn't see anything but the sound moved north uphill. This is what happened the last time l heard a banshee. Anyway... l thought it was probably a cat. I thought nothing of it til next day, when l was told first thing a family Friend passed away. RIP.
I know why...so the Cat Sidhe doesn't get them! Keep the catnip far away....and the fire down. And a mirror is as open a doorway as a barn door for the Cat Sidhe.

Irish funerals and wakes are still very unique compared to our neighbours.
