Mate ... this ain’t a parody. This is a TRIBUTE THAT DOES JUSTICE TO THE ORIGINAL. Rock on bro 🤘
LOL, I just said that as I posted it on FB...
Hell yeah rock on🤘
No joke. The majority of their songs and videos are really good. But something about this one and it’s closeness to the original.
Yeah awesome tribute . They made it their own. Awesomeness on the vocalist.
🤘
I am sorry Merkins, but this is way too good to be funny.. from the actual video production to Layne's voice.. as an old AIC fan, I couldn't even laugh at Pinhead because how eerily perfect this song is...
I kinda don't like that they didn't make up a clever verse opening..they just used "man in the box" 😒.. Why?
@andiekaye1658 well technically pinhead IS the man in the box (aka the lamant configuration) and it works best for this song and why they picked it
I don't think this was meant to be funny.
the fucking guitar tone is awesome too. Whoever was in charge of the music definitely knew what they were doing and took it up a knotch above the original.
This
Belting out that "Cenobites!" and "Sacrifice!" is crazy good.
Whoever did the vocals does a spot-on Layne Staley imitation. Awesome.
Joey Siler... are you familiar with the animated series Cooking Hostile with Phil Anselmo.... His work also ...
If you guys weren't dressed like a parody, you would have passed off easily as grunge band. This was seriously an amazing cover. You should proceed with this style.
This happened to me, it was recommended to me in youtube and i didnt know about the actual band and thought this is a real band, and i loved the music, i tried to find other musics from them that i realized this is a chanel that does parody lol
Don't nudge them in any direction. Let them do what they do.
They’re doing the internet’s work right now. And it is fantastic
Yes he has that voice that "fills" The song, not like Layne but a very Impressive one
its barely parody at all. I mean, a lot of rock and metal gets inspiration from shock rock. These masks arent too different from the ones slipknot wears. If someone didnt know that grunge rock (alice in chains genre) was rooted in a gritty reality (they dont really dress up) and had never seen hellraiser before this would have easily passed as a normal (very good) music video.
I will NEVER get over how perfectly they emulate these artists
i just came from the danzig one and he sounded exactly like danzig
This isn't a parody. This is a brilliant tribute!
Literally the only time they didn't have to change the title because it already fit perfectly into the Merkins world.
Agreed
they have really good quality sounding music...back in my day the pARDOIES had horrible singing lol this makes it more entertaining to where it sounds good
@@kimmyfreak200 not weird Al. He was awesome baby bitch
Layne will always be a tough act to follow, but, you sound so close to him this honestly scary
is Layne a Pinhead actor?
@@minemaster1337 Layne's the lead singer from Alice in Chains
arin leoczko oh ok thank you

Minemaster 1337 - the original Pinhead was portrayed by actor Doug Bradley
I'm not even kidding I would pay to see these guys perform.
That'd be so awesome
I think u can buy tickets 🤔
Me too!
Fuck...yes...
Image seeing them perform at Universal Horror Nights?
Dude, this is gold. My dad was a HUGE AIC fan and his favorite horror "villian" was pinhead. Thank you guys for unwittingly making me tear up from this AWSOME amalgamation. My dad would have loved this!
Aww my dad was a fan of AIC (same as me) and I thought the exact same thing- "Dad would have LOVED this!"
Are both your dads dead?
Oh, no tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering.
@Ban this youtube We have such sights to show you.
I think I'd be really shocked if I solved the Lament Configuration mostly because I am not into sado-masochism. I hate recieving pain and I hate giving it. Me solving it would be such a kick in the teeth. That being said Hellraiser is my brand of horror. The gorier and more over the top kills the better.
The fact that i forgot this isn't layne singing is absolutely mind blowing.
Right it's done so well
Ya
WOW! Now that is a compliment!
@@THEMERKINS That's what I was just thinking too. But it certainly sounds like Layne and I'm a huge AIC fan.
His voice is a bit cleaner than the original, but yeah tonally it is pretty spot on. Someone that wasn't super familiar with AIC and may have heard the original years ago probably couldn't tell the difference though. Super great job by all involved!!!
I have a feeling Layne Staley would laugh his ass off if he saw this.
Yeah he would!
I'd like to see a Jerry Cantrell reaction video of this.
i am hoping all these artists see their videos especially NWA well the ones that are still alive cuz that video was really good and funny
Layne would totally find this funny
my thoughts exactly
Agreed
We reached the point where it’s almost impossible to determine if this is parody or not
Because if someone told me this waa original, I’d totally buy it
Same here, I did not know all of the words of Alice in Chains, so if I heard this on the radio, I would have assumed this was the original
Well thank you!
I went and watched the real video after seeing this and was floored by how close even the video is. Really the end of the original looks like its from a hellraiser movie.
Is it intentional that Pinhead has a look of Layne as well 😂
UA-cam seems to have attributed this video to Alice in Chains.
This is arguably one of the best parodies that The Merkins have done. This is fucking amazing. The singer is outstanding at mimicking the voice of the lead singer of Alice In Chains
Yeah, I was very happily surprised when I listened to it!!* I can't believe how much this singer actually really sounds like Layne Staley.. It's almost SCARY, to be honest.
also, all the Hellraiser symbolism really floored me lol
@@thebandsoul7836 good thing you said symbolism before i said symbology, otherwise i would have owed you a bagel.
His name is Layne Staley. Show some respect lol
@@rab46290 Bagels are so good, I think my fav one ever was this awesome one in manhattan that had eggs and cheese and some amazing secret sauce on it. Wish i remembered the name of the place, but it was so early and i was zonked, so i just saw "bagels" on the window and my fate was decided.
Holy moly, clicked on this expecting some fun, decently recorded, decently performed Merkins goodness. But...this could pass for a genuine Layne tribute. Colour me impressed - wow!
Layne is so difficult to imitate and those who try, end up sounding like shit, but Pinhead... you are worthy. More AIC covers please!
Heeeeeeeeeeee who trieeeeees, sounds like shiiit.
That's a killer complement coming from Jason Voorhees's daughter
@G M
😂😂😂
@Darth Dredd I know there is a Lark Voorhies from watching Saved By the Bell. I think she changed the spelling of her name from Voorhees because her father murdered a bunch of people.
Oh yes! Especially the chorus. Perfection
I wish that Layne would have seen that, he would probably loved it.
Well maybe can at least have Jerry Cantrell see it!
Was just thinking the same!
@@265308 Send it to him on Twitter or something.
@@265308 or Sean Kinney, he's the other member of the band still alive from the original video!
@@grindcoreninja6527 Don't have twitter but know there been other musicians who have reacted or tweeted about shit someone send em on social media. HEY lets do it again. ahhahah PUNs fucking intended!
The fact that he actually sounds like Layne is astounding. Everything about this is incredible. Very well done.
This was 2 years ago when replicating voices using AI wasn't really that popular so it's just the vocalist's actual voice, most likely some form of auto-tune or editing if it's not his actual voice.
I gotta say Layne Staley is indeed one of the best vocalist there ever was in the Grunge scene and perhaps in rock history, but it isn't very hard to reach his level after a couple years of vocal training to hit the right notes, but trying to replicate his tone would require a lot of effort since Layne mostly sang from his heart and put a lot of passion and emotion into his voice. @arteyeszb6343
@arteyeszb6343this was 3 years ago not saying ai wasn't a thing just less common and not as notable
@arteyeszb6343 This was before the rise of AI voice synthesis.
No disrespect to William DuVall but he should be nervous after seeing this.
Lmfao. This guy does the song total justice. Will Duvall is not doing a Layne impression although I would donate a testicle to hear Layne perform Check My Brain or Rainer Fog.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 DuVall can sound eerily close to Layne and he shows it live. That's how he got the gig in the first place. But Jerry also doesn't want him to live in Layne's shadow, which is why DuVall puts his own flavor in on the albums. So he pays respect to Layne live on Layne's songs and then still gets to be himself on the newer stuff.
@@SpaghettiYOLOKingTTV i agree. Plus Duvall is a dear friend of Jerry's and actually way more reliable as a bandmate and friend than even Layne was (Jerry was infinitely patient with Layne and his heroin struggles and lost a lot of money from touring due to Layne being unable to tour due to drug problems). I love how Jerry and Will were able to keep AiC alive because i think Black Gives Way to Blue was a masterpiece and I see it as a classic AiC album. Dinosaurs and Rainer Fog are also very good and Duvall is excellent as AiC lead singer but also in his solo work.
@@flightofthebumblebee9529 people slept on Jerry's solo albums sadly. Many don't realize that he IS AIC for the most part. Layne had tons of talent that unfortunately didn't get shared as much as it should have.
@@SpaghettiYOLOKingTTV jerrys solo albums are amazing. I consider them the lost AiC albums. Anger Rising and Cut You In are awesome songs
The singer should do more actual covers. Lanye wouldn't be disappointed.
Check him out his name is Joey siler
He can't be disappointed
Layne’s dead
Layne wouldn't appreciate his addiction and death being used to attempt humour
@@Neverintelligible kind of. I'm the original author of this song, the person who killed him, and "the engineer". *shrug* go figure
this is actually genius, because pinhead does come out of a box. The singing sounds just like the real thing, and the lead singer of the merkins has a great vocal range, the guitar playing is on point, and the drumming is just a hard hitting as the original. Great job to these guys
This comes to show that Pinhead doesn't need to be in a boy band when he's got a rock band. Love this so much!!

Same here as an 80s-90s kid. I love the music and the movies these guys represent!
This is perfect. A Cenobites “Hellraiser”- Motorhead parody would be as well.
@Pedro Sepulveda As much as I enjoy Ozzy Osbourne, Lemmy did it better. But that’s just my opinion. Btw, Pinhead is in the Hellraiser-Motorhead music video.
Yes!
So let me get this straight. You guys went from parodieing boy bands to country, to 80s pop, to rap now to 90s grunge metal?!!. You guys are so talented and have a huge range. I love it!!
Thank you!

Pinhead could totally be a 90s grunge band name
Alice N Chains were not grunge! they were Metal. Just like Stone Temple Pilots were actually Glam Rock.
@@265308 Alice In Chains were as Grunge as they came, if there was one band that didn’t really fit the Grunge term would actually be Nirvana. The Grunge sound originates from that Lynyrd Skynyrd and Led Zeppelin 70’s Blusey Hard Rock sound. And STP were never Glam Rock at all, Glam Rock is David Bowie and Queen, and Glam Metal is Motley Crue and Dokken. It was Mother love Bone who were actually Glam Rock
@@nu-metalfan2654 yeah that nice story but fact is AIC was metal they did not even dress grunge...N u remember the early videos the damn bassist even had makeup! they labeled Grunge to sell records U idiot!
