I just watched this on ADVRider. I had been to Meat Cove earlier this year, just before the summer rush began. There is something mesmerizing abut being at land's end, looking out at the horizon.
Thanks George. I much prefer the beginning and end of the riding year (although I try to ride all year around - at least a day or two each winter month), when it is quiet. Great spot. Excellent ride.
Thanks for the look back Nick. I was there 43 years ago on an 850 Suzuki, hiked to the site of the remains of a shipwreck on the shore....an amazing day, still remembered (with the help of photos). You had a great trip!
As a returning rider I am having a hard time feeling confident in the rain , and the autumn leaves here in the uk ! I can’t imagine doing 4-450 mikes in a day in it , you are a brave man 😂
Riding in the rain is a skill like any other. The key is to know that you can't ride as if you were on dry roads. You have to modifiy your expectations and speed, watch out for those drain covers and increase the distance between you and the next vehicle. Other than that, it's just a case of having effective gear, gritting your teeth and getting on with it. As you may have noticed, I was smiling. I don't mind the rain. Stay well and ride safely.😁
Thanks Nick , yes I too enjoy riding in the rain ! Just need to find my feet again and not feel I have to keep up ! I have just finished my 3rd of your audio books , really enjoyed them I think the next one will be about your return to the uk Safe riding to you too 👍
@@vincenash1358 ah. I almost always ride alone, so don't feel that pressure. Super happy you enjoyed the audio versions. I have a lot of fun doing them.
What a fabulous ride Nick, ashamed to say I'd never realised how lovely Nova Scotia was, really envy you those empty roads! Love to see you out on the Cavalcade, what a magnificent mad bike!
OK no Guzzi..... The ride on the FRENCH coast is a great motorcycle ride. And the clockwise or anti-clockwise Cape Breton rides give, on a motorcycle (for me) a quite different avenue. Maybe next time for you.
@@nick949eldo Yes indeed. I went around the Gaspé end of October this year. In trough the park. Alway a fantastic ride Ste-Anne des monts to Bonaventure on a motorcycle. Too cold (3 deg on sea level) to go through the mountains on the way back.....on a BMW (old) twin. Meat Cove IS a special ride (place).
👌Interesting time of the year to ride to Cape Breton Nick😊 My wife and I have enjoyed both Meat Cove and Parrsboro’s Maple Inn. I hope you managed some nourishment at the Black Rock Bistro. Thanks for the ride.
I like the off season SteverinoB. Empty roads. Cooler temps. More interesting riding conditions 😁. The only thing open in Parrsboro was the Tim's......
Great video tour Your video are good Love the scenery you show with the ride I'm on vancouver island & also a guzzi rider Missed my old eldo so got another newer Cali from 2002 Looking forward to more tides Your u tube definitely are inspiring me for more rides with my son& friends Take care& stay safe Live life
Great video!! Aye.. it's in the blood.. travelling on a motorcycle Soon to head off on a similar wee trip, albeit shorter distance.. heading up north.. Scotland Hopefully see some dolphins, and killer whales..in the "warm" Gulf stream waters Stay safe
Nick, that's a ride that I have wanted to do for sometime, the Cabot Trail. I got to get a passport . You had riding to Meat Cove as a objective. There is a place on the coast southwest of Halifax. I believe it's southwest. It's called Mahone Bay and Peggy's Cove. You know the rides in the rain and inclimate weather have their own beauty. Important thing is that you made the trip safely back home. RIDE SAFE NICK! Enjoyed the video. Nick, how was the Tim Horton coffee?
@@nick949eldo I am VERY familiar with the south shore. My parents lived in Bridgewater after they retired. Peggy's Cove (beautiful place, go when it's raining so it won't be crowded) and Mahone Bay (like to shop?) are major tourist areas but as you get further south it gets really nice. Lunenburg is a tourist town as well but a must see town, just amazing architecture. Thomas Raddall Park past Liverpool is very nice, great views across the bay to where my Uncle Charlie lived. Beautiful spot. Shelbourne is a nice little town. We always take the coastal roads when available. We liked the area around Pubnico and around the tip of the province but aren't as keen on the Fundy shore up to Wolfeville but the inner roads in the Annapolis Valley are hugely fun on a bike. And we love the area west of Parrsboro, we spent a whole week riding back and forth along the road from Parrsboro to Advocate. There is a superb restaurant in Advocate, the wild Carroway. Maybe I can bring a map and bore you for a while over some pancakes sometime over the winter.
Great video. Myself and a fav traveling companion enjoyed the Cabot Trail and Meat Cove this summer( altho a bit warmer and drier!). We also crossed over to PEI where we noticed the people seemed to be different( not better, or worse). Perhaps the isolation of PEI? I didn't see a navigation device on your Suzuki....do you happen to use one?
Hi George. My phone should be visible there somewhere. I usually just use Google Maps, but really, there are not so many roads that I was going to get lost. I actually like riding off-season. Less people (I'm bordeline antisocial). Cooler weather (I hate the heat), colourful trees. Stay well,.Glad you had a good trip.
Are there still Irish accents in NS ? At one time the area was remote from rest of canada and emigrants families/ settlements retained native accents for generations
Nice , good job
nice old hills and twisties to go w' me coffee!! Thnx Nick!

Thanks Mate. It was a great trip, despite the rain. Stay well. Nick
Only you can make a 5 day ride in cool and rain sound and look like fun.😊
Well, only three and half were wet and cold, so those aren't bad odds.
Been there done that twice on my BMW R1150, that was a fabulous ride.
Thanks man, you keep me motivated.
Thanks. Leaving the house is often the hardest part.
Thanks for the ride Nick.

What a fantastic trip, Nick! Nice to have visited two oceans in one year, as well. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Shaun. I like to get around😆

So good!
I loved Meat Cove and Parsboro, but I had much nicer weather than you did.
No matter the weather, that is a beautiful part of the country!

I imagine it will be far less crowded at more ordinary times of year. But then, most riders are pussies 😆😆😆

Nice to see a video of an area we are familiar with. Too bad you didn’t do the road out to Advocate and then up to Amherst, really nice ride.
I thought about that one but decided just to head straight to Amherst. Oh well, another time.

Another great inspirational vid , would love to know the history behind such places like Meat Cove .. .but that's what Google is for p😀
I had to look it up myself. Not convinced by the answer though.

You're lucky to have such wonderful riding available. Amazing how, once we stop slaughtering them, the wildlife recovers.

Thanks Dewayne. The southern part of Nova Scotia is still unknown to me. Perhaps next year.

The short answer is yes. There's even a Celtic language / culture school on Cape Breton gaeliccollege.edu/
