I think most luxury brands' products aren't super pigmented because they go for more of a minimal makeup look that most middle-aged women would prefer, rather than the more popular instagram, heavy-makeup look that the younger population is into.

This clearly shows you have very little experience with high end/luxury make-up; I only buy luxury make-up; they are generally very pigmented. I'm not a brand snob, but what you have to understand is that you're not just paying for the name; there's a reason the product costs more; the ingredients and formers they use are of higher quality and more expensive. So you get better pay off and longevity. I actually know people who work in the industry on a scientific/production level. Of course, there are crap products even in the luxury range; sometimes they get it wrong.

I love hearing about luxury makeup, and reviews especially because it means I can decide if it's actually worth potentially saving up for. I would love to buy luxury makeup, but obviously not really viable on a student budget. One day I will no longer be a student and might be able to afford more. I mean currently I have to save up just for high end, sometimes even for more expensive drug store products.

Tom Ford shadows are made to be sheer, it's really similar to the texture of many Japanese makeup. I actually am a fan because a lot of of western shadows are too chunky for me, which makes me look old. But the tom ford shimmers and glitters are one of my favourite because it's sooo fine and sooo smooth. So they are definitely not as pigmented as Too Faced or many other brands.
Only watching this video in hopes there will be lots of 'das espensive'

I think she meant relatable to most people. I don't mind if she does more of these videos, but most people can't afford it nor shouldn't feel like they need to save up for ridiculously priced makeup. It's fun occasionally but it already starts to feel like there is no way anyone will ever buy all the makeup they want as it is, even if the max you would spend is $40 on a foundation. What got me was watching someone who got a $1000 GC to Sephora as a prize, and while watching the haul realizing how little she got :-/ That's nuts.

Try another Tom Ford palette. I don't have many Luxury products, but my Tom Ford quad in Golden Mink is definitely one of my favourite items of makeup I own. The glittery shades are amaaaaaazing.

I think YSL lipsticks are the most gorgina lipsticks out there. I also have the YSL fusion ink foundation but it's so thick and it's supposed to be just medium coverage.

I liked Kathleen's video a lot. I am a fan of Tati, but I feel like she's not as ready to give harsh reviews to luxury brands. Even on videos reviewing products that she described as just okay, or having had certain issues with, she will still say she likes it at the end. I think Tati is more afraid to give bad reviews to big brands and potentially burn a bridge to work with them in the future.
You always look amazing glad to see you are doing well. I can't afford that makeup but it's always fun to see the different makeup I have never heard of before. There is always dupes out there..... 😀

I actually think these videos are way more useful than some of the other stuff because if I go on a wet and wild spree and I hate everything I'm out $20. Where as this haul might have cost my rent, you really need tons of opinions when making a larger financial decision.
Koh Gen Do in Japan is way more affordable. It isn't a luxury brand either, their products are displayed as Loreal in US. They rise the price due to taxes and shipping cost. Yet they are a good brand. Come travel to Asia, welcome 💕💕😍

Im glad you did this video because some of us can't use drugstore because of allergies/being easily irritated. The only thing drugstore that doesn't irritate me is NYX and sometimes that can even irritate me. Everything else breaks me out, makes my eyes irritated causing styes/itchiness, etc.
i use a lot of Mary Kay mineral makeup (eyeshadows blushes and powders) i also like Almay eye stuff and physicians formula and Mary Kay concealer

It's so refreshing to see a youtuber being totally honest about this luxury makeup. I have a couple of you tubers that I used to watch constantly but now all they seem to use is high end or luxury makeup, and talk down about drugstore makeup, however any luxury products I have tried I have never been wowed about. I'm main stream in my make up. I love Too Faced, Urban Decay, some Mac, love Makeup Geek eyeshadows above any other, plus I have some drugstore products that I just love.
YES, I love how brutally honest you are, and I love that you review more luxury brands, because when you spend that kind of money you want to be sure it's good :o I would definitely want to see part 2 of this video :D
And by the way (I left the comment before finishing the video) I have oily skin and I tried the La Prarie powder foundation after watching Serein Wu review it - and let me tell you, I love it. It gives full coverage as Kathleen says, but it also melts perfectly into the skin and gives me a natural matte finish. After wearing it a couple of hours, it looks more semi-matte. Just wanted to mention that for all the girls with oily skin wanting to try a very good luxury powder foundation. I myself got 20% off of it, and that helps :)
How do you apply it? Do you use the sponge that comes with it or a brush?
I apply it with the sponge that comes with it - it works great! It doesn´t get caky or powdery or anything. I have also tried it with a brush to do lighter touch ups during the day, and that is also completely fine :) I haven´t tried to apply it with a brush though, because I like the full coverage it gives with the sponge due to my redness, but I can imagine it will look beautiful and more natural with a brush :)

I live in Brazil and pretty much everything around here goes from high end to luxury (even Revlon and Maybelline can go crazy with some prices) and drugstore items are practically non-existent (our cheaper brands can be quite awful as well)... so I'm always watching videos to see what's worth the money and I haven't done bad whenever I followed your opinion! Personally, I love the Louboutin lipsticks! You're mostly paying for the packaging, but I find it very moisturizing and it goes on very smooth. It's also very pigmented. I bought the matte lipstick in Rococotte, which looks very good with my skin color.

When purchasing higher end brands, do you ever feel guilt in using them up? Any time I spend a bit more on a product i never use it because I think "i need to save for a special occasion!" but then i dont ever have special occasions! How do you get over feeling like you're "wasting" a product when using more expensive stuff?
I used to be like that until I realised that no matter what I will never go throw the product or it will go bad before I used it. So I suggest to wear your high end makeup more often. Now most of what I use is high end and I enjoy it.

The way I look at it is I can either use it and enjoy the way it looks/feels or I can let it expire. Actually using it isn't a waste, tossing it is. Hope this helps!
nope. I buy makeup to wear it. Whether it be to work, to diner or out running errands, I wear makeup. From Maybelline to Guerlain I own a little bit of everything. I put on what I feel like wearing that day. I don't save it for a special occasion. I enjoy looking & feeling pretty every day. If I was going to feel guilty about it, I wouldn't buy it at all. Makeup gets old & expires, why wait to wear it, wear it now before it expires. You paid for it, so enjoy it.

I just had to throw this out there..I LOVE the fact that you are harder on luxury makeup brands because of the price tag, I see SO many youtubers who criticize drug store makeup when if it had MAC or NARS label on it they are LESS hard on the makeup, whereas I would expect it to be the other way around..I would have a way higher standard for the expensive makeup not the drug store. Love how you did these videos, Kathleen! All luxury in 2 quick kicks. One of my favorite youtubers has taken to doing 3 out of 5 videos as luxury or unrelatable ($200 primer?). I can go for those once in a while, but not 3 of 5 vidoes. The way you did it works to let us know in quick about the products. Yet your channel isnt saturated with them.
