I didn’t call out safety because it isn’t confirmed for our market yet, and range I mentioned. 0-100 is still an important consideration for people. And it helps customers understand the performance differences better than kW/Nm, because it can be largely irrelevant to EVs due to weight concerns.
You would think the so-called engineers that design these cars could manage at the very least a space saver spare. I will never buy a car without a spare.
@therightcar Hi Matt, I'm sure weight isn't a consideration when the battery is so heavy. I think it's an unfortunate and short-sighted trend that makes these vehicles unsuitable for Australia. 😊
If the reviewers started to deduct one point from their score for all cars without a spare that might make a difference. No car of the year awards for those without a spare.
Hey Matt, really impressed with the design and interior. The boot space was much larger than I expected, which is a huge plus. Overall, I like the fact that it’s got a lot of spacious room in the Cupra. However, the price tag is quite steep and makes it hard to justify. Overall, it’s a great car, but the cost is a significant drawback compared to its competitors.
Hey matt, it was great seeing you the other night as well. Didn’t realise you were coming down😁. honestly I was thinking between 50k and 65k. But I’ve gotta say I like this design more than the Tesla model Y I’m waiting for your full review
How does it compare in space to a model y? It looks smaller, but i can't tell if that's just because of the styling elements.. If it's as spacious, I'd say make that drive away pricing and they'll be on to a winner. If it's much smaller then I'd say it's too much. It's certainly nice to look at, unlike a model y, which I think is about the ugliest car I see on the roads today.
Have you seen the weight of these things? I downloaded the RVD lodged by Cupra and it lists the tare weight of the RWD version at 2238 kg and the AWD at 2284 kg. That is 300 kg heavier than the equivalent Model Y, and not far short of a base Hilux 4WD. The VW group can build great cars, but they now must learn how to build lighter cars.
It’s a challenge for many brands when using big battery packs and heavy steel structures and body panels. Many of the “lighter” EVs use paper-thin sheet metal that dents when you barely bump it. I don’t think anything from VW Group will have the same issues. And also, if the efficiency is good, what is your main concern about the weight - handling, safety?
Heaps. Tesla Model Y, VW ID4 / ID5 (soon), Skoda Enyaq (soon), Toyota bZ4X, Subaru Solterra, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5…. And more from China due very soon!!
stopped watching the second i saw VWs stupid touch controls for the AC. They can make the car as good as they want but if the stuff I touch and use every day is bad, deals off.
Pretty funky interior. Still not so keen on crossover/SUVs - even if they are very car-esque crossovers like this one. Still, nice vehicle in general, I rate it for what it is.
not sure why many EV car companies advertise how fast their car is going, the major buyers care a lot more on safety and the KM range

eventually they will all go that way so you have no choice

I think you are incorrect.
You’re not alone mate. You could feasibly fit a space saver under the false floor if you wanted to, but it adds weight.

Very nice. If $70k inc on roads, should sell well
$65k base and $70k max. There is too much competition coming, and they will be left behind
🤔Finding a charger in Sydney that works, that’s a stretch😂

Hey Tom! Great to see you the other night mate. What should it cost, in your opinion? It’s not a basic thing like Model Y!

I love the interior … who needs a spare tyre when u have a spine in the front
Hahahaha
Great looking car. I hope its around the 70 mark on the road and would assume Cupra will do their research. Looking forward to the drive review.

Great review, looking forward to see the review on the BYD Shark soon i hope.

Beautiful! I'd pay $70k on the road for the base. If on roads are on top of it I'd probably go no. Not saying it's not worth it though.
It won’t be $70k drive-away (unless you live in QLD, and the incentives still exist…)
What would the EV competitors of this car be (other than Telsa)? There aren't too many that seem to be similar and this looks a beauty to me...

Yep no being cheap like tesla a real sun blind...
Lot of competition coming. It will be interesting to see it up against the Zeekr X when both are finally here.
Sure will!!
There’s no way you can get 500 kilometres it’s all BS 😒
I regularly get 520km in my Born around town. On highway yes it drops a bit.
Isnt byd seal premium with current drieway price of 58k better than this value wise?. That being said more competion is always better
Gaudi interior
Better than black on black on black

Hi Matt, is this essentially a re-badged Volkswagen ID.4?
Platform shared - it’s a reworked ID4 in the same way the new Ford Capri is, too.
@@therightcar Thanks, I'm waiting for the ID.5 and ID.4 to arrive in Australia. Hopefully the end 2024 date is now firm.
Hi Matt, looks great. Where about were you to see it?
Thanks mate. It was at the Cupra Garage in Sydney CBD.
Hey mate
When are we getting reviews on new hyundai tucson Hybrid?
Waiting!
The front dash looks like a very futuristic game console.
Will have a price considering the other options
So it's an ev formentor
Nope. Different platform, larger car, bigger cabin!
