Super happy for you that you got invited to a press event. Getting there 🙌🏼 Like the Tavascan. For me it’s the nice VW platform packed in a better design 🙂
Thanks mate! 🙏 Struggling a bit since I'm doing it in English. Easier for Swedish media outlets to get invited to Swedish events. To some local Events I do get invited to but most often they are late to the party and will not generate a genuine experience or interest for my viewers. So I tend to not attend and focus on getting hold of the right cars instead. Agree, the Tavascan looks really cool and refreshing. And the platform is good, a nice combo. 💪
it was smart from Cupra to wait for the facelift of the platform. The better motor, bigger battery and better software will help the car. However the price is just crazy.
The pricing seems way off. I ordered an Adrenaline RWD which in Danmark got everything the VZ got, like glass roof, DCC suspension, heatpump, matrix etc and it costs me €53.300 with a color option. The base model, Immersive costs €48.000. Sorry, but this makes the Tavascan a better buy in terms of price vs features over the G6. Yes its more expensive, but its a much better car. Ride quality is better, G6 is not connected with the roads and its not even more comfortable. Lack of matrix lights, HUD, well functioning assists makes the G6 a relic. Add to that the absurdly high maintenance costs, makes the G6 too expensive.
looking at cupra models before when they were part of Seat, the prizes were also in the high end, they have always made sporty cars with high packages and speed. So price doesnt surprise me as a ford explorer on the same platform actually costs the same as Cupra Tavascan.
It is a very interesting and beautiful compact car, inside and out. But just to make sense of what is happening in China, BYD is about to start selling the Denza Z9 GT, with 1070 hp, four electric motors, one for each wheel, and interior luxury of a Maybach - the Denza brand was created in partnership between Mercedes and BYD. All this for only US$ 56 thousand (ev) or $59k (phev). How to compete with that?
Seems odd to give the hazard light button such a prominent in the center of the console, do they expect it to have a lot of need for it? The cabin reminds me of a wasps nest or the HR Geiger alien designs. Not sure I like the cabin, prefer the exterior. Looks more like a £30,000 to £40,000 car after seeing all the recent cars out of China. Great detailed test drive as always.
Charging, battery management, software, sound system etc. Travel assist is not mediocre at all, it's really good including the park assist. But lack of DCC and HUD is sad.
@@ItsOnlyElectric Battery management? 4.x+ for MEB got manual precondition of the battery, and they dont rapidgate while charging. Sure charges slower, but not much. Software is good in both, Xpeng just copy/pasted Tesla and made bad spelling in their UI. Soundsystem was good in G6, but Tavascan got deep base. Its marginally better. The Xpilot doesnt slow down before speed signs and the lane assist is nervous and aggressive. I´ve tried beta and release software, and beta was actually better imho. Sorry, but the G6 while a really nice interior and charge speed, its lacking in what makes a good car.
6 - design outside very sporty and naughty. Design inside, interesting, but at the price point you need to do better than hard plastic these days. Had it come out 3-6months earlier i might have considered it. Here in Denmark there are 4 trims all with the same battery, but different packages, where the RWD version trim below the VZ will probably be the most popular as it has almost the same packages as the vz but in a RWD 286hp version at a fairly lower price.
Cupra (and Seat Cupra) have always been good looking cars to me, and usually very good in price for what you get. But the name? I will never remember that one :D Same with the new Bugatti and Lamborghini... Bugatti Tublenor? Lamborghini Temuroori? other than that, nice.

VAG is not willing to sell EVs, because they are not profitable. They have really good products on their hands but recording huge losses just brought them to this end. ID.5, Enyaq Coupe, Tavascan; they can sell very well but VAG just failed to market them. Too bad. They had nearly zero visitor in Chengdu Autoshow of this year. By the way; I am so eager to see Onvo L60 on this channel, as it started showing itself on stages.
Yes, that's sad. I hope the tavascan helps VW to turn the tides a bit. it's a nice var! Looking forward to test the L60. I'll see what I can do. But not available in Europe yet.
The ID-7 would be a very nice car but VW always stops its cars short of being comfortable with "in your face" cost cutting. It looks great and drives great but has cheap plastics in clear touchable areas. Almost no storage or creature comforts I also will never have an EV with a fixed glass roof. I buy a sunroof to open, not to see out of. Besides, in the southern state it would be roasting. Porsche manage to keep its opening sun roof on its EVs.
That's a mid-size? Maybe in Europe. Anyway, I hate the giant logo on the hood. Logos should be on the front girl. Until EVs hit a secure 400mi. I won't even consider buying one. At the moment,
Looks great, appears to drive like a sports car but alas I don't think it's going to save VW. Too expensive, too big and it is still using the switchgear that everyone appears to complain about. Further, if the VW infotainment system has not improved significantly (of which nearly everyone complains about) then that will also cause this car to fail.

Score the #CupraTavascan 1 to 10! 👇👇 How good is it?
8, losing points because of the charging speed
6 looks good, but the weight/charging speed+network, the average software at best, and especially the way too high price, will keep it of the streets.
1. It's a VW. I'll never buy one.
