- Today I will help you guys to better understand kenshi's weapon and armor stats. Consider it a crashcourse to weapons and armor. Sorry for the drop in quality, I'm learning a new editing software.

Ahh this editing software has been a treat to learn, and is it just me or are there some odd horizontal lines at some parts.. Idk but I hope this helps you guys in your endeavors :)

What software did you use? Video looks great on my end.
@@MedievalFantasyTV DaVinci Resolve (the free one).
Good :) or thanks, idk lol.
Cut resistance and cut resistance efficiency works as follows:
Cut resistance determines the amount of incoming cut damage that will be reduced. Reducing cut damage does however inflict blunt damage to you.
Cut resistance efficiency determines how much blunt damage you will suffer.
The damage that bypasses the cut resistance (i.e. if you have 40% cut resistance, the other 60%) will move onto the next layer of armour if available on the body part, such as a mail shirt.
The blunt damage that results from resisting cut damage will be directly applied, ignoring any other layers.
So, for example: Say you are wearing a Specialist grade Samurai chestpiece with 70% cut resistance and 90% cut resistance efficiency as well as a Masterwork grade Rusty Chainmail with 40% cut resistance and 60% cut resistance efficiency and you get hit with an attack that would normally deal 20 cutting damage, your calculation looks like this:
Your Samurai armour is 70% cut resistant, so it directly resists 14 points of cutting damage. It has a very high cut resistance efficiency of 90% so those 14 points of damage are converted into 1.4 blunt damage.
6 points of damage have bypassed your Samurai armour and are now hitting your Rusty Chainmail. This Chainmail has 40% cut resistance, meaning you resist 2.4 points of cutting damage. The Chainmail also has 60% cut resistance efficiency, so those 2.4 points of cut damage are converted into 0.96 points of blunt damage.
In the end, your 20 cutting damage attack inflicts you with 3.6 points of cutting damage which have entirely bypassed your armour as well as 2,36 points of blunt damage which has been converted when resisting the cut damage. This damage will then further be modified by your toughness.
The major take-away from this is the following: Your outer layer of armour (that is, headwear, chest armour and legwear) should favour high cut resistance efficiency because otherwise you may suffer a considerable amount of blunt damage. It's better to sacrifice a bit of cut resistance on your outer layer if it means significantly improving your cut resistance efficiency because at the end of the day, a small amount of cutting damage is a pretty easy fix, you just slap a bandage on it and pretend it never happened, whereas blunt damage only slowly heals over time.
Thanks for the thorough explanation! Much better than I could've done.
Slow clap
There is a mod that fixes the default mechanism as it is a bit broken.
@@CyberBeep_kenshi in what way if you don't mind explaining
@@rangergreen1935 i am trying to find the explanation clip. But short story, the way it calculates if if something is stopped is apparently wrong. Something of a % of a % instead of using full % of the different layers of cut damage resistance. So 2 items covering stomach with 50 % are not calculated as 2x a 50% chance but 50% OF 50% if i recall
Holy shit! I didn’t realize that lowering stats through modifiers made them easier to train. Thanks for the tip!
Absolutely :) , I hope it helps (definitely can near end game).
An easier way of calculating strength requirement is that your strength should be double the weight of the weapon.
That's slightly more convenient lol
But if you multiple 40x with weapons blunt damage its 100% acurate and correct
Nice and concise video, Wayloz! Thanks, looking forward to more :D
Thank you for the kind words Danny! Hopefully I wasn't too concise and forgot something lol.
No, thank you, much appreciated : )
Very helpful. Straight forward, simple, and easy to understand. Thank you so much!
Most welcome, glad you got something useful from it :)
Tip for Strength training: once fully encumbered follow Gecko at the Hub in the border zone and you can essentially afk train.
Genius!! I don't necessarily recommend this -> but, I used to 4x, full encumber, go back and forth between The Hub and.. that, shek place that's south west. Thank you for the better method.
EDIT: Sorry it took me ages to get back to you.
@@Wayloz I used to do the same but got sick of having to attend to my trainees every time they got attacked while I'm trying to explore the world with my other party. Thanks for your vid, I learned way more from you 🙏
I'm so happy this video exists
:) thank you. Glad it could be of use for you
This is magnificent bro
Thank you very much Duck : )
Nice video bro, keep going! 🤘
Ah thank you very much! Will try my best :)
bless you for the Kenshi guide videos
:) thank you for being here.
Consider the following armor, non stealth, combo for the 'best' protection incl. Acid/ / fire:
Crab helmet, crab armor, Samurai heavy pants, leather turtleneck shirt and wooden shoes (always, always, always).
There is a steam workshop 'fix' for armor too that changes the way the % works, making it realistic. Because the default is broken.
Great to know! Thank you : )
I don't pay as much attention to armor as I probably should 😅
increible , los subtitulos se traducen perfecto , muchas gracias hmno , yo si entendia bastante el ingles pero ahora no me pierdo ni un detalle , un abrazo desde chile
Incredible, the subtitles translate perfectly, thank you very much bro, I did understand English a lot but now I don't miss a single detail, a hug from Chile
Hola hombre, no es un problema en absoluto, feliz de ayudar :). Dame un par de días y lo configuraré para los otros videos, ahora que sé cómo hacerlo.
A hug from here too, D.
Tendré que asegurarme de que el reconocimiento de voz obtenga las palabras correctas de mi video para traducir en consecuencia.
For now, I have the auto ones setup if that helps, though I get you understand a good bit of ingles.
@@Wayloz a mi me da la opción de que se traduzca automáticamente en los subtítulos , asi que todo bien
It gives me the option to translate automatically in the subtitles, so everything is fine
@@YoMonkeyD Oh, it always did that? then what'd I do lol anywho glad it's there.
God Bless! thanks for the vid :)
Glad I could help! (though I feel like this one needs redone lol)
W premiere
That I ironically slept through haha
very nice vid
Thanks
Not a problem, if you want help with anything please let me know. :)
When you have 2 melee weapons equipped how does the game decide which to use? Is it a strictly indoor vs outdoor thing or will the game always pick the best weapon for the enemy and location of the fight?
Hey Jay, that's a great question that I'm going to need to look into for specifics. I never really give them a secondary unless they have a crossbow. Be back with an answer in a bit.
They usually pick the best situational item in their inventory
I'm currently running with a polearm with +6atk and -4 indoors and the defensive police stick thing with +8def and +4 indoors. When outdoors my person uses a polearm, but when indoors he will automatically switch weapons.
I believe this works as well if you have a +animal damage weapon and a +human damage weapon, the game will calculate which is better (I think). I haven't extensively tested and watched and have 0 clue about the calculation but my other person with those definitely switched at times between the two.
Hope this Also gives you a head start in testing @Wayloz
not bad, would be better if the examples you gave matched the pictures on the screen
Completely fair point, I'll work for better results in the future 👍
I have a question why i give a character a heavy armor and it reduces mi defense?
What’s the name of the armor piece? Can’t say I’ve seen that before
Defence is your characters ability to block. Some heavy armor makes it harder to move so the price for wearing it is a lower attack, defence, dex and perception.
@@FreshMeat1227 Reading back through comments for some reason I completely misinterpreted that the first time. Thanks for helping them out Leo.
