    Great Video.
I have three D5s with piston fillers and ink widows. Brilliant pens. Brilliant nibs.
The clip has been improved because on the piston fillers, the clip is very stiff.
The ridges in the barrel represent the breast plates of the terracotta army that was discovered.
The D5 piston fillers are on Australian Ebay for about $85 Aus.

I have the original D5 in the blue color and it's one of the nicest pens I have, which is saying something as I have some nice pens, imo.

This is a very nice pen and as you say and a nice writer. Their previous version, the D5 (without the X) is actually piston filler. I don't know if there is a weight difference between the two but that is what I have and it works very well.

I have the D5 in black and silver. It's a lovely pen with a piston filler too - all for £40!! possibly the smoothest fine nib I have ever used 🙂

Thank you for reviewing! I appreciate your nitpicky criticism of the pen and I totally agree that the grooves on the feed would make priming the pen quite messy. Just bought a regular D5, waiting for it to arrive now!

The other Hong Dian pens I have are all very nice writing pens. Honestly much better than I initially expected given the price.
This one looks good but also bigger than I generally prefer. Going to "need" to look at the other colors and see if any of them compel me to spend a bit. Just enough bling and not too much over the top.
Thank you for the review, sir!

Nice review. There is a piston filler, 14c gold nib version too.

Hongdian seem to be able to make good nibs. Visconti should go to Hongdian to ask how to make a decent nib that writes haha.

Wow, thanks. Usually I don’t like, buy, or use metal pens, and don’t care for “themed pens,” but I’m going to get one of these. Thanks for the review.

I love this pen but I own the D5 which is a piston filler instead of the D5X which has a converter. I actually have two of them, one red/gun metal and one black/gun metal, and they both write beautifully

The x indicates it's a c/c filler, whereas the previous D5 pens were piston fillers. It's been reviewed by a few of my preferred pen videographers: Chris Rapsiek (sp?), Doug of Inkquiring Minds, David "Figboot" Parker. It seems to be selling now for a bit under $40 US. Details are neat, as contrasted with sloppy, and as far as I can determine from the videos, it's nicely manufactured. The details appear to mean something. Thanks for reviewing a pen that more of your fans might actually be able to purchase.

Surprisingly tasteful. I've been pleased with the HongDian pens I've had, and this looks like it'd be no exception
Sheaffer Red? Cherish it. It's kinda up in the air if it's coming back, last I'd heard, and it's the only really RED ink I've ever seen. Many "red" inks are more pink or orange...(And well behaved, like a Sheaffer ink should be.😉)

The red and gunmetal compliment each other very nicely

I have the same red one and it is a great writer.
The pattern on the barrel and the section represents the armor of the terra-cotta army, which was buried with the Emperor.

All my Hongdian pens have been surprisingly well made. When I saw these I was also super surprised by how tastefully they design what could have so easily been a very ugly gaudy pen. It's still maybe a bit "extra" for me but they kind of nailed the super ornate design without looking tacky and cheap.

I love the writing experience of my Hongdians. Without exception. This is very attractive, but a little over-ornate for me.
