From what you show on the podcast, Jay's avairy is better furnished than his office! Listen to that wise woman!

Love hearing the diet differences between parrots and finches.

Yep, while they’re both birds, they’re very very different!

Yes a big different in diets when you compare them.

Great episode all! Any chance you would consider setting up a Discord, (or is there an existing Discord?) to have some of these discussion?

There’s not a discord right now. It’s possible we would have one in the future, but neither Chris nor I have the time for that right now. Great idea though!

    Aloha🌺
This is a really good video. Perfect length, although I wish you guys would have like a 2 hours long episode too hahah. This is my 4th time listening to this today. Really great background sound while I do bird chores.
I enjoy hearing stories you guys share that you’ve experienced throughout the years. It helps me learn more about this hobby.
I’ve made tons of mistakes in the past, especially since I started with birds at a really young age and did not have access to the knowledge from other people until I was 12.
    Keep up the good work!

Hi guys, you should check out pictures of the "Faust-Vogelhallen" in the Zoo of Frankfurt (Germany). They have tilted the windows of their aviaries slightly inwards at the top to reduce stains on the glas.

Einstein is just the sweetest little cuddle bug! 🥰 You’re making me want an Ekkie again 😄.
Biggest bird mistake that I’ve made (sharing so no one else makes this stupid one): I always end up getting flies in my house in the summer when the dogs go in and out of the sliding door. I’ve found that the cardboard tube sticky traps work really well for controlling them. The ones I use are these big neon blue green and white ones, very visible, so it didn’t even occur to me that the birds wouldn’t be able to see it’s there. I forgot that it was even up there, tbh. Dandelion, my cockatiel did not see it and just barely grazed the glue trap, but they’re much stickier than I would’ve thought and she stuck to it Luckily I was right there and immediately got her unstuck, she barely had any contact with the glue, and there was no harm done other than one or two lost feathers, but it could’ve been a lot worse. I like to think that overall I’m pretty careful and aware with bird proofing and having my birds free fly in the house, but it didn’t even occur to me that it might be an issue until it happened. I’m not proud about admitting my stupidity, but hopefully someone else will learn from my mistake. Now I just encourage the jumping spiders to make my house their home 😄.

I’ve had a similar issue! Just fyi, the reversal for glue traps is olive oil, which is safe for birds. So if it does happen to anyone, a light, gentle olive oil bath followed by a bath in dawn dish soap is the solution!
