Awesome video Andriy looking forward to more megadeath maybe?
@@connorwilliams1540 Thank you! I think yeah
Hello my frrriend, I just wanted to express to you how much joy your content provides to my day and i find your passion for thrash metal so refreshing on this platform, keep it up.
I also want to see more megadeth content and I will dare saying there are thousands like myself who enjoy both Tallica and Deth but who also consider Mustaine's band to be a lot more rich and technical and at the same time very less discussed around the internet, so think about it, your content is spot on to do a lot more videos centered around MegaDave and Company Amazing talent, because as much as we all love Metallica we also know its overrated AF.
Cheers from Mexico and keep it Metal \m/ \m/
Hi frrrrriend!
Great video for a great song!! I love everything about this song: Bassline, dark guitars, lyrics, and the ending, too!
A riff pretending to be a solo is how you can describe most Megadeth riffs.
...Or are those solos pretending to be riffs?
Definitely. For instance, the one that won Rob Chapman's riff contest few years ago. Still kinda pissed
@Shockheadd45 Yeah. And I noticed that if you take a good solo, you can make cool riffs from its pieces

Like the 7 or so solos of Hangar 18

Andriy: Riff pretending to be solo
Me, an intellectual: Rhythm guitar solo
Oooor, Tokie Wartooth's chance to shine!
James: Ryth guitaaaaa
Hetfield referred to the Justice medley as a "rhythm guitar solo" on at least one Black album tour video lol.
@@SpiderSkot I remember him saying that in a justice medley live video I saw a little while back here on UA-cam, such a great live medley by them too. They've done medleys of Kill Em All and Ride The Lightning too and those are more recent than the justice one if I remember correctly. In conclusion they put together some killer medleys, and James gets to have a nice long rhythm guitar solo haha
possibly you are the only person that studied this much on some songs besides their composers
maybe Dave doesn't realize his did all the 12 notes in the intro ))
@@AndriyVasylenko well you are right, more than their composers :)
Surprisingly, this video is the same length as Orion's track.
Rest in peace, Cliff
But is that a coincidence?

@Kurapika Giovanna Tell me one song by those bands that are better than holy wars
@@zondaboy6493 Take No Prisoners
@Kurapika Giovanna shut up bitch, holy wars is the best
@Kurapika Giovanna Tornado of Souls is even more well arranged than Holy Wars, not to mention Hangar 18, Polaris, and Take No Prisoners. Rust In Peace is easily better than any work by the bands you mentioned
To be honest, Rust In Peace is an excellent album, but it is rather quite overrated.
A lot going on in the song, glad to see it being broken down :)
I'm from Northern Ireland so there's a bit of a connection there with Dave making trouble for himself and getting inspiration for the song.
Turned out I messed up the story, so I erased it from the video ))
funnily enough I commented before watching the video, but I know from your other videos that you work hard on your analysis, everyone makes mistakes haha
Yeah he totally made trouble for himself during the.....
.....Troubles.
OK, I'll go see a shrink.
Some of my ancestors came from Ireland, they were of either Protestant or Catholic religious faiths , i am not Irish so i don’t understand the fight, pretty close to the same beliefs and definitely the same God, I was raised Catholic i don’t care what religion people are i can make friends with anyone, religious belief is never a factor.
@@redwelder5296 The religious factor was more incidental than a driving force, most Irish in Northern Ireland (part of the UK) are Protestant and most Irish in the Republic of Ireland (not part of the UK) are Catholic. The troubles were largely driven by various political concerns between the two states, who happened to be mostly Catholic on one side and mostly Protestant on the other.

It's really crazy to me how they used a riff that had all 12 notes of the normal western tunings as the intro, and not only did it sound good and sick, they managed to resolve it to a regular scale
True musicians.
it's just a bunch of passing tones, not that difficult
its not like they used them in a melody. For real, its not that hard.
You changed your profile?!
This whole thread is a bit of a circlejerk but seriously, it's not even that hard. You could even argue it's easier than writing riffs in an actual scale.
Playing and singing stuff at the same time is much easier if you write it yourself. You work around your natural rhythms and patterns, so even if it sounds complex it’s familiar and comfy to you. Saw it first hand several times when I blew my voice out and my bassist tried to sing my vocals!
My favorite music from all time, this totally blowed my mind in the first time I listened and changed my life forever!

Playing and singing holy wars isn't that hard for me, but playing and singing Rust In Peace main riff...oh now we've got a problem
lol I haven't tried to play rust in peace yet, but I just can't play/play and sing Poison was the cure, that shit is so hard
@@joey_ramone_96 yeah definitely their hardest riff, but its not hard to do both, because when Dave starts singing he doesn't play the main riff, he just plays the chords while the other guitarist plays the riff, this way its easier to sing, otherwise fuck me if he could play and sing that simultaneously
@@ViktorPopov2000 I know, too bad my fat ass wants to play the riff while singing, I can barely do the first one alone
Agree. Holy Wars is actually surprisingly easy to sing and play at the same time except the very last line (the "Next thing you know... "
However Take No Prisoners and Rust In Peace are really damn hard to play and sing
@@joey_ramone_96 Dave plays a modified version of the riff. It's not just power chords but it's not the full riff
I KNEW head crusher sounded like holy wars in that bit.

So happy you did this video. This song is undoubtedly a masterpiece of Thrash Metal and a staple of the genre.
I just remember the first time I heard the song. I actually laughed out loud in disbelief. So fast and so ridiculously tight.
great video but "last thrash metal classic" hurt my soul a little bit
It's fine cuz I think he said "of the 80's"
Natural harmonics?

The section about Natural Harmonics was such a reveal for me, i Always felt strange while hearing natural Harmonics on frets where they shouldn't be, now i know that in reality Is a normal thing
Btw, Amazing video as usual, telegang here
Thank you! If you want to learn a the natural harmonics, check out Jaco Pastrorius. He did them even on frets where I cannot ))
Andriy, I thought he did the harmonics on the 4th fret.

@Andriy Vasylenko I learned something new today. I’m a huge fan of your videos. Can’t wait till the next video. I’m a bass player too.
Same lmao
Now it's time to learn how to make them work

Respect for showing alice in hell, my fav album ever
I keep hearing “Hogwarts.” I dig your accent. It makes your videos much more interesting, and your grasp of English as a second language is impressive.
Aw yeah! Finally talking about my favorite band/album!! Well done, my friend! спасибо!
Andriy, I must say, as a portuguese guitar player and mega-fan of two of the greatest metal bands in music history, your videos are awesome! Very important not to be always dazzled by this megastars, and mega-musicians. They are human after all, and you also show that side! Thanks! Keep on it! Also, you're a fantastic bass player!
I love to turn on the autogenerated captions when andriy says " it's Andriy Vasylenko" its hilarious
This is why I subscribed this channel. I didn't notice that the second coming of holy wars is faster.... Quality content👍
"the last thrash netal classic"
entire terminal redux album: 🤗
Some Vektor song analysis would be great
I love the creativity of Marty in his use of very simple arpeggio progressions and blues riffs in his leads - it's just the damn speed and smoothness in which he plays them is what makes them total masterpieces, and the aspiration of many a metal player. It's great that we have the resources available to us now to be able to look up, listen and learn how they are played.
The lyrics that Dave sings while playing what he plays is pretty impressive. Like that one part in "Chosen Ones" when he's playing that solo part while singing, it's pretty easy to him to play solos/riffs whilst singing lyrics at this point. Great video.
Thanks for this, very well spoken.
I dig your research. Subscribed...
So the auto generated captions got your name right. Is this even acceptable??
(Btw great video, it's my favourite m***deth song, although I haven't digged too deep into their discography)
Aaalso, you made a video 8:28 minutes video, exactly the same length with Orion, the same day that Mastodon released their cover of the song. Hmmm...
Do 20 levels of megadeth solos or riffs plz, I think Megadeth much harder than Metallica

Me too. Announced this video in January 2019.
I love these videos where you break down songs. How about doing something by Testament? Like a comparison of their sound changes for Chuck Billy's vocals before and after his battle with cancer...the higher pitched thrash metal esque vocals versus the later death growl from Low.
You should make this a 'Deep into hit' episode. I'd love to hear more
Im so glad Andriy loves us
Out of all these other guitarists that have their own YT channel,You are by far the best or more correctly , my favorite because you really delve deeper into the song and how the guitar and bass are made and whatever have you make the song the way it is.Keep making these and I would love to see you do some on the Mighty Exodus. What is your opinion on Holt and Gibson's playing style Because on August 15th 1986 my cousin took me to the Gibralter Trade Center and we or I picke it since it was a recent buy from the seller at the booth for 50 cents and I saw one track out of all others with these very evil named songs was a song titled "Piranha/No Love".It intrigued me enough to play that first since seeing the word love as a titale for their song.I heard Piranha intro and I was just blown away with the heavy groove this song hadand then you had Bonded,Strike and Exodus.......I was a pure breed thrash addict and then within months a death metal addict and I can't think of who the band wasthat gor me hooked. There was Sepulturas Schizo album and a few Kreator that I put in the death metal .If I have one question to have you honestly answer is this one..........what is your opinion from the very beginning to the very end your thoughts on St. Anger. like how every band finds a true to the genre back up or go through try outs for the permanent bass player but that damn Bob "Can maybe rock but can't thrash" rock to fill in in and his over critical demands and encouragement of the sound is a abhorrently joke to metal. Please do a video on this album.I do like half the songs on Load and fewer than Re Load. Thanks again for what you are putting out there for us and you do it the best for me.
I think my favourite part in the song are those natural harmonics on the 3rd fret, I really like them
Please cover more Megadeth songs like this
This is a cool video! More Megadesss reviews, please!
This album is a bonified artistic masterpiece. Mustain was a pioneer and with that album he perfected the genre and probably killed it in the same effort.
100% agree with you frrrrrrriend. I strongly identify the song with the verse riff, i.e. the one that's tougher to play than riding a unicycle while riding a unicycle while trying to play Slayer, as you said (nice one, btw). :D
I wish the song was all holy wars and no punishment due
Great video. Dave Mustaine really is a *RIFF GOD*. How many awesome riffs there are on Rust in Peace alone?
Right on point about that uni cycle

I love that record! I feel that Lucretia has the least understood and interesting riff on that album. I wish you would make a series about each song on R.I.P. take care friend!
Didn't mention the drums? This song has awesome drum lines. (Btw awesome video frrriend)
Love how solo 2 is back to the good old Blues scale.
We need a 20 levels of metallica haicuits. PLEASE DO THAT.
.....easy.....loss in hairlength coincided with loss in song complexity and greatness.....

Whenever rust in peace comes up. People always talk about holy wars or hangar 18... But my favorites will always be poison was the cure, lucretia and 5 magics
The first time i heard this song i thought it should be about being electrified in the chair, 'cause thats how it fucking felt to me, thrilling as fuck
"it ended on Rust in Peace"
Testament - Souls of Black?
Sepultura - Arise?
Xentrix - Questions?
Testament - The Ritual?
Slayer - Divine Intervention?
I know holy wars was the memorable one to the public but for me Five Magics, Tornado of Souls, and Rust in Peace...Polaris were the "rip your face off" songs
In my opinion the coolest part in the song is the acoustic solo like it’s just amazing
Also I reccomend giving the rest of the album a good deep dive, with the exception of maybe Dawn Patrol and Poison each song has a place in metal history
I have the same Birthday as David ellefson
It's the greatest thrash metal song ever written in my opinion.
1:36 Train of Consequences, I see what you did there
Is there a term in classical music for increasing intensity/speed? Not just a "crescendo" but rather more frenetic? This song and also Hangar 18 do this really well.
"A riff pretending to be a solo". God is my witness, I imagined a riff as a music note wearing a hoodie.
This one's for the cause 💪🏻
Nothing better than finish an online class and watch this video noice.
