let's go for a drive round glasgow's wellhouse.the fort ..and provanhall let's see what's changed in recent years. Buy me a Coffee: www.buymeacoffee.com/beattiefbef
Thanks for the blast from the past . I grew up in langbar went to Wellhouse primary. Sister in law still stays in wellhouse rd . The van was Richards van ran by the Jarvies .
I went to Wellhouse school too. We lived on Bartiebeith Rd. ( Moved in when it was brand new ) Wellhouse School is gone now, just the fence and gates remain. Hated that school, my teacher was a complete sadist. I don't live in Scotland any more but I did look at Wellhouse school on google maps years ago and saw it was closed. Made me very happy to see that.
I used to live in whitslade street for many years just before i moved to australia in 1971. My parents and i moved to 5 drochil street. What a big change in provanhall.
Richard's van sat in Torran Rd, he stayed in Baldovan crescent. Edinburgh Road once a war zone with the Toi v Bar-l😅 Good old days. Wellhouse Rd was the Toi v Skinheads 😅 Brilliant
@@scottconnor8867 Up behind fire station. Only ventured up to bandit country to go swimming or shopping centre later played football on the red Ash pitches beside the baths.
We moved to Easterhouse in 1960. 63 Conisbrough Road, Left in 1968 to go to a 5 apartment in Garthamlock. Went to the Benny. I can remember about 1964 or 65 for some reason we had to go Wellhouse for a time and were actually taught in a converted close. Wonder if anyone watching this remembers Miss Jones from the Benny.
When you said the buywell i remember ma ma at the age of 3 or 4 taking us up easterhouse to the first shops that were built up westerhouse road ,took a right into duntarvie road , before that i was ina pram, the wan way the big wheels 😂😂 im a wee bit homesick always been ,but life goes on,cheers.
When you turned left there its aw coming back ,when i seen the fire station om the right, is the library still there?or the community centere where i done extra woodwork classes
Forgot to mention. If you had taken 1st right off BartibeithRd you would have gone down Inver Rd i'm sure.I used to drive the Tango Cafe ice cream van all round that area for a while.Your video brings back a lot of memories.Thanks.
Great video.I moved to 54 Wellhouse cres when i was eight. The place was just being built then.Spent some of my teenage years running with torran toi(mad years) When i eventually "grew up" i ended up driving the green buses"Eastern Scottish" sometimes up and down Wellhouse Cres. terminus used to be at Baldovan.I had a good time(mostly) growing up in Easterhouse.
Im writing as you do your driving, the auld house ,provanhall house,i went to school with frankie Graham, st Benedicts and st Leonard's his parents were the 'the ones that stayed there to look after it'it was a mess then.
I stay in Halliburton for 21 years I left 1980 it looks the same shit different day, until the people Look after the gardens the grass and pick up the rubbish's from the area it will always be a shit hole
I was born in 1972 and lived at 23 conisborough road and always remember it being called the ‘venchie’, I vaguely remember an old empty building full of graffiti there-it was eventually demolished and the council developed the land, they put in small gravel paths and a pond in a figure of eight shape with a little humped bridge in the middle. The paths went all over the area-back of the Benny (St. Benedict’s), also through the woods to Lochend road and even down to the anthill (and beyond) 😁
I come down here every now and then, the road conditions are dreadful. For small residential roads at Wellhouse they are falling apart. Surprised at the start of your video you didn't take the first right and then went down that hill and then turned left. Would have been nice to see how all that changed, even the garage etc.
@@paulfianatravels I remember all the Gangs way back in the day , The Bar- L , the Torran toi , the den- toi , pak , skins, the boig, the village, tigers , Cranhill Cody, ziggy , crazy days like the old wild west
