Just did my motor mounts in my GLI in about 4 hours (not bad for jackstands in driveway n first time) long story short love watching this channel because it keeps me motivated to work on my own VW. Thanks man
Great compromise! The Koni on the GTI is the move! Since the Pink Floyd is a wild card build, the bags can meet your car show, car club desires. If you had the ability to build a car for your brother, it seems like he would be into it after your Georgia trip. IDK, I would if I could for my brother.
Those idling issues with the 1.6 is just a classic case of a vacuum leak on the intake side. Had the same issue on a car of mine where it was idling really choppy like it had a big cam but was fine under normal driving conditions because the engine was pulling enough vacuum.
those pedal boxes are a real pain to remove! when I pulled mines from a parts car lucky it was already half torn to bits. one thing to note is the steering column (the actual tube itself, not the shaft piece you removed) has a hook on the end that goes over the white plastic piece the pedals rod goes through. that's why once you removed the rod and the plastic piece it all came out a lot easier! you need to remove the 2 snap head bolts (which are also a real pain to remove) on the dash bar and you can remove the steering column and shaft as one piece!
hey the engines of the vw 1.4 16v and 1.6 16v have problems with tilting of the pistons and that causes your valves to bend so if that happens your block will consume more oil so here's this info. I own a polo 6n2 1.4 16v that broke last Wednesday because the tensioner of the car got stuck and the timing went wrong so with me 8 of the 16 valves are bent so soon another engine will be spooned in and learn a lot from your videos so keep it up greetings from holland 🇱🇺
Good to see the pink floyd project taking off now! I don't you need a hydro clutch for the 1.8t? So much easier if you source a vr or 16v pedal box. Guess it saves work later on.
Same thing with the trunk privacy cover happened to me. I took it apart and found that it gave up internally. Could not be fixed so you probably need to source a new one.
if you pull the 1.6 16v you should replace it with another 1.6 16v but turbo it! i've seen a few on youtube and they seem to handle it great and it's a really unique thing to do, i believe you actually talked about doing this at some point?
You have a vacuum leak somewhere in your crank case ventilation system. Vacuum leaks increase crankcase pressure which in turn increases oil consumption. Find someone you know with a smoke machine or make one and smoke your intake.
@@Mk3Smith It might be also dirty throttle body. Look at this ua-cam.com/video/tZ84ZPRBg44/v-deo.html What's more, this 1.6 16v engines are sensitive to non-original spare parts. Lots of people reports that EGR just doesn't work properly after replacing for non-oem part. The same applies to Oxygen Sensor.
Do the pedals for the new engine work Good I heard that the trans request for a different pedal set up just a question I'm in the process of doing se hing similar so I'm interested in know in go my set up
@@Mk3Smith Allright, I will package it and send you a instagram personal message so we can make this happen. Also have a little gift I can send with it.
You pulled the wrong bolts for the steering column. If you took out the 2 security bolts and pulled the full column not just the shaft the pedal cluster comes right out

Man getting rolling on this one for sure! Seems like you're already at warp speed. Car is going to be sick when it's all finished.
thats crazy been looking for a video about the pedal assembly for when I go to the junkyard

Man, you have everything over there! Haha craziness! I gotta get on your level my guy!

I’m pumped to see this project rolling! Air ride is a very good move for a cruiser!!

Another project on the way bro can’t wait to see this one on air ride like your saying wonder what wheels you going to put on her
Maybe check the injectors, diesel engines usually idle and smoke like that when you have a bad injector. 👋 Love your content.

My dads 1.6 Caddy had the same problem it was just a vacuum leak. btw love your content!! keep goin
You can set mileage on new dash.I have done that when i have installed MFA
I see Pink Floyd, I click, I see cars, specifically VW, I click. I see Pink Floyd and cars combined I definitely click.
Much easier to pull the whole steering column not just the shaft out of the tube. Then the whole pedal cluster comes out as one unit really easy.
man I cant wait to get a mk3 and start tinkering. I finally finished (and uploaded) my AVF video and realized it's mostly mk3s haha
That’s how mine was as well🤷🏼♀️😂

When you return home, you can set up your own VW parts business you have so much! Peace!
I dig the content Chris, I appreciate the videos man !
Love the content Christian bro. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Yup I’ll be using the hydraulic clutch conversion from fabless just like I used for the savoy and running the matching slave cylinder on the trans 👍🏼
Omg,i would like so much to have a VW junkyard near my house
Try the idle control valve on your wagon. I've got a 2000 1.6 audi a3 and it did the same sort of thing
I've seen cleaning the MAF connector sometimes resolves the rough idle.
Same thing with the trunk privacy cover happened to me. I took it apart and found that it gave up internally. Could not be fixed so you probably need to source a new one.
Yup I pulled mine apart last night and it had broken on both ends sadly so I’ll need to find a new one now
Try to get a cabrio to be shipped to the USA before your wife tour is up brother
Hey Christian are you keeping the all plastic bumpers on the Pink Floyd or are you putting colour matched one's on it.
I have some smooth top bumpers I’ll paint match 👍🏼

I got the pedal box out with the pedals, without taking the entire dash out 😆 single most frustrating thing Ive ever done

Ojala en Mexico hubiese carros en desguace tan bien conservados como esos aquí solamente los encuentras en pedazos y en pésimas condiciones
Try to clean egr pipe,my car has doing the same thing and after I clean that pipe it works like usual.
It has a brand new one I replaced not too long ago so I sure hope it’s not that lol

I love your jetty🌍✌♥️
10:15 my friend had the same issue in his passat b5 1.6, it turned out, that he had a leak in the intake tubing, maybe try checking this stuff
You know Chris it's the time for vr6 in wagon
The whole kit🙏
Wwwhhhhoooooooooooooooo - 3rd it is ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I think there is a spray you can buy that helps to find a vacleak am sure its not dead yet
Christian, I have a blue manual shifter surround laying around, do you need it for the swap or do you got one already?
Oh yes I definitely need one!

Ah I see! Never saw anyone talk about those bolts so I didn’t even realize. Now I know lol
When you move home how will you get everything there?
Ship it in containers
i was wondering the same thing. Lol
Is there any Passat B3 on junkyard
Nope
I would like to have a savory
I mean... you should've bought a tdi wagon lol
Nah my 16v has been amazing and still is amazing just idles crazy sometimes 🤷🏼♀️
@@Mk3Smith I hope you figure it out man
So, if your wife calls in and places an order for parts you need, do you get paid for pulling your own parts? 🤔
Lol people come and pull their own parts 😂

maybe your throttle dirty
egr vaulve 100percent
Egr valve is brand new and even the old one I took off was completely clean
