God d*mn it, Hastak and their QC have strike again, it's also happen to my 35th anniversary Siege Takara Soundblaster and my Kingdom Cyclonus. THE CLEAR PLASTICS ISSUES WASN'T SUFFICIENT FOR THEM?!

When that happens, I just don't buy the figure, that's one of the main problem with people, people incentive scalpers to keep doing what they are doing, just because they can be mature and don't buy the damn figure or console.

You know that enough is enough when you start desperately trying to get a devastator figure and nothing else because he actually looks cool, not realizing that this is the gate towards addiction.
One of my first transformer figures was gifted to me and it was the oversized Jin Bao Gravity Builder and it just snowballed from there. Pretty sure my buddy knew what they were doing when they gave it to me 😂

Me getting Studio Series Devastator and a reissue G1 Bumblebee for Christmas last year after 15 years of not collecting, opening the gates that would lead to a flood.
As a collector of blu-rays and LEGO sets, I feel this on a cosmic level
As a Lego and Transformers Collector I feel this in a spiritual, cosmic and a Radioactive ve level
You forgot the stage where you're about to quit but then they announce a character you have been waiting for so now you have to buy them and keep your collection

Honestly Hasbro has been making such good figures that Masterpiece and to a lesser extent 3rd Party doesn’t have as much use anymore.

Even worse when you get into painting and customizing. It can be rewarding, but you risk your money if you fail. So be prepared.

Yep. This is pretty much how it went down with me. I was at a mall and found my favorite transformer. I thought "what's the problem owning just one?" Then I found Optimus at Walmart and then thought, "well if I'm getting the leader, might as well get a few more...oh and maybe some decepticons just to even it out.." it all went downhill from there.

There is NOTHING WRONG with collecting. BUT, when you put too much of a priority on collecting, like it starts to affect your overall health and relationships, then it becomes a problem. But there really is nothing wrong with collecting.

If I had a nickel for everytime I saw someone charge through the roof for something that shouldn’t be that expensive, I could actually afford their insane prices.
The part with ss44 optimus...holy crap! I completely understand that feeling! I remember when he was only what...$70 maybe $80. People really jump the price on any optimus figure.

I started collecting in 1995. I've tried to stop on 5 major occasions. Now I accept that transformers are going to be my significant other.
As a model kit collector, this is 100% accurate
At least we model kits builders have the excuse that we build our figures, so it's not just a "buy, play with it once, never touch it again". Let's not even start about custom building

This was an issue for me. But thankfully, I've been able to get all the items I've wanted for years, to the point I'm now fully caught up and lately the lines I've been getting just release more repaints of items I already own. So, I'm safe...for now.

Never sell your Transformers. You bought them in the first place to enjoy them, not as an investment. Never forget to never turn your hobby into an investment. You collect Transformers because you genuinely like the characters and enjoy the shows, movies, and games. Don’t buy them to sell them later.
There's a difference between scalping versus selling a toy you already have because you don't find it fun or can't find any storage for it anymore. Some people don't like hoarding toys they don't play with and selling them is a way to recoup costs. Additionally, used toys tend to be cheaper than what scalpers charge.
People can ultimately do what they want, my guy. And I wonder if for those who throw around the 'scalping' term actually know what scalping is. Selling your toy for more than it's original retail price when new is NOT scalping.

@@checob224 Yes, but there's a very fine difference between selling an item at exorbitantly higher prices than their MRSP due to created scarcity, and selling at prices representative of the item's natural market value at the respective time even if said value is above its original cost/worth when new. Older toys that are no longer in production will naturally be more scarce and subsequently of higher/inflated value overtime if it has a demand. Both acts of selling enable profit, but are otherwise not the same and hence why the latter should not be confused with 'scalping', which I've seen numerous collectors do.
People also forget that some folk may sell unwanted parts of their collection (or buy/sell for profit) to help fund other aspects, for items/collectibles that they actually want.
The only time going broke is acceptable.

Not me, I only collect the ones I find really cool, no matter the line, so when I see my collection I don't have a "why do I have so many of these" moment. It also helps that I own model kits, which unless they are from som specific franchises (fuck off Evangelion), they are really well priced for what you get

I got my friend hooked on Transformers comics, then on the Toys. And now they have a crippling spending problem. I did this to them.

As A transformers collector this is very Relatable But I mostly use them for my stop motions
when I first started collecting my goal was to get one figure of each character. So like one optimus either a g1 version or movie or something, or like one megatron. Flash back to now and I currently have a bumblebee movie, beast wars, G1 S1S2, G1 S3, bayverse, and a miscellaneous shelf. I've strayed a long way from my original intentions. Not only that but the amount of figures I never intended to get and bought anyways, is astronomically high. I told myself I wasn't getting legacy skids or arcee and they're both currently on one of my shelves.
