The Library During COVID | Calgary Public Library

Between October 2021 and May 2022, we filmed a series of interviews with Library staff asking about their experiences during the pandemic and the changes that occurred to service, staffing, and operations. Involving nearly 20 hours of interviews, the resulting 20-minute documentary represents an important historic moment for the Library community.
Thank you to all members of our community - staff and the public - who supported the Library during this time. Thank you to the interview participants for sharing their experiences with us, and thank you to the locations who allowed us to film there: Louise Riley, Signal Hill, Saddletowne, Seton, and Central Library, as well as the Library’s Operations Centre.

Amazing video. I love how the Calgary Public Library did not just focus on the children but also on connecting cultures, reaching out to the Indigenous communities, and providing services to our vulnerable community members. The staff are the heart of the CPL thank you all for your dedication before and during the COVID pandemic. I am certainly one of those vulnerable population Calgarians that benefited from your dedication.
[FWIW the application that resulted in my FINALLY finding employment in my career was sent from inside a CPL branch and my first telephone meeting with the hiring manager took place from a table in a CPL branch. CPL played a huge part in my pandemic well being and my improved financial future.]
