  • On February 8th, Calgary's new Central Library in East Village hit its 100th day mark of being open. To celebrate, we're sharing the complete timelapse of construction, from the CTrain encapsulation in 2015 all the way to doors opening on November 1, 2018.

    i love this place.. like a giant ship.. i visit it every time i'm in Calgary. an oasis of knowledge
    and tranquility. the public transport stops in the house, it couldn't get any better.

    Why the train running directly underneath? Would that generate noise and vibrations in a place known for silence?

      Our LRT system doesn’t hit high speed downtown because the stops are so close together, so it’s not really loud at all. I haven’t personally noticed any noise from the train when I’ve been in the library

      The train was there for decades, which made the site undesirable for private development.

    Noting to write home about...typical of current Institutional buildings designed by computers...AKA Digital Architecture. In 25 years you're be hearing about ugly they are. Im sure the interior is very nice, but the outside is cut and paste digital architecture.
