I can't think of any performer today who could stand in front of an audience (both the physical audience and the TV audience), absolutely OWN the stage the way she did, and still OWN it after that powerful Choir came out. My Sister is Married to her Wife Pam. I still want to get myself out of this TOXIC relationship because I am being Mentally Abused by my Sister who just happens to be an Alcoholic not to mention someone who smokes Pot & Cigarettes even though she's on her second to third time with CANCER. It's a long story, that I don't want to get into, because She thinks she's right even if she has been proven wrong. In Her eyes, I cannot do anything right! I am Deathly Sick of Her Mental Abuse...I have went from 176 lbs down to 147 lbs since October of last year I mostly lost this weight from December to present time and I am still losing. I REFUSE to go to a Doctor in Florida where I am VERY TEMPORARILY staying until I can get at least One Thousand United States Dollars to get Me Up NORTH out of this HELL that I am in. I was Forced to Partake in a Job that I should not have been made to do, but I did & all I got was One Thank You, one from my Sister and one from her Wife. I never even got Paid for any of the work! Now Pam told Me that I was going to Help their Neighbor David put the Tin back on a Pull Barn that was blown off from a Hurricane of which I NEVER WANT to be Forced to go through another one of those ever again in my lifetime!!! I had my vehicle Repossessed, so I have NO vehicle! I thought my Dear Lord & Savior Jesus was going to grant me my Favor or Blessings and no offense I am still waiting. I literally don't want to have to have anything to do with helping put back the tin on this Pull Barn which will come back off after another Hurricane comes through and YEAH I MOST DEFINITELY WANT & WILL BE GONE FROM HERE if I have to Walk before that happens! I am TRYING so Hard to get back up to NW Illinois where Home is for Me! I am not sure if this comes as a surprise or not, Muslims believe that Jesus is alive, but not for the same reason or manner as Christians do. What's even more interesting is that Muslims believe more than most Christians that Jesus will return one day. They have a graveyard right at the supposed entrance into the Temple Mound on the path from where Jesus is expected to enter the Temple. Why a graveyard in that specific spot? The reasoning is that Jesus, as a Jew, would never enter the temple if He passes through a graveyard as that would make Him ritually impure.

This performance was my first introduction to Jesus that I can recall as a child. He's alive is what I remembered. Later I understand what the song meant. This song is so treasured by me.
I remember this night in 1989. Dolly came on stage and began talking about a song she heard during the night, while traveling through the desert on her bus. I looked at my wife and said, "She's going to sing 'He's Alive'". I was on the edge of my seat all the way. This is probably the most memorable performance of this song. I remember the night I saw Dolly sing this live on t.v. I had went to the beach where my Mom and Stepdad lives visiting. And my Mom and I, were watching this, and my Stepdad had went and took a shower. And talk about getting a rush, and the biggest goosebumps I have ever had in my life, when she belted out that first He's Alive, WOW!!! . There wouldn't be any other Country female artists who could sing it any better than Dolly. Her voice was made to sing it.

We had stopped at the grocery store after attending the church presentation of the passion of The Christ in the late 80's and a living Christmas tree choir. So moving we were in tears. My tears flowed in that big church auditorium when they whipped him down the aisle to the cross on the altar. This came on the car radio as we were parking and my mom, her mom, me and me daughter, 4 generations just sat in the car until this song finished. We couldn't get out! He's alive!!! I'm forgiven!!! But we don't need a building to celebrate our risen Lord Christ Jesus. He lives within our hearts and no enemy seen or otherwise will keep us from worshipping God and our Savior Jesus. She tells the story, while singing every note high/low, that you can see it like a movie or like you were there. Amazing is not the word. Emotional all the way. I remember back in 1992 this song was being played on CME so much, it was so tranquil - Dolly Pardon - He is Alive. Prior to this time I knew of Davie and Goliath by Dave Clokey and listened to Pastor Frederick K. Price from L.A., California. But I had hit a point in life where I was so lost. I must have heard this song on and off at least seven times on CME. But one morning I had awoken sleeping on the couch to this song. I remember as a child unconsciously believing in God but really only like a fable or story. I thought Jesus was just a creative story. But awakening to this song on the 8th Day to this song circa 1992 was the day I realized Jesus was real. He is Alive. Thank you, Dolly.
A classic performance for all time!!! We all need to be grateful it was captured on video. You TELL people how great the performance was and they don’t believe you. You SHOW them this video and they’re usually hypnotized. Then their jaws drop to the floor when she breaks into that first “he’s alive.” This song is not easy to sing. It’s very demanding, vocally. Dolly Parton is truly one of our great singers.

I am sure that Ms. Allen, who posed the question assumed the question was rhetorical in the sense that all Christians believe that Jesus is alive. And, my response to her rather naively placed question was that Muslims also believe that Jesus is alive; in fact, Muslims do not believe that Jesus died in the first place, as Christians believe he did.

I remember this night in 1989. Dolly came on stage and began talking about a song she heard during the night, while traveling through the desert on her bus. I looked at my wife and said, "She's going to sing 'He's Alive'". I was on the edge of my seat all the way. This is probably the most memorable performance of this song. This video doesnt show it, but I remember seeing dozens of people weeping in the audience. Thank you, Don Francisco, for writing this.

I remember the night I saw Dolly sing this live on t.v. I had went to the beach where my Mom and Stepdad lives visiting. And my Mom and I, were watching this, and my Stepdad had went and took a shower. We had stopped at the grocery store after attending the church presentation of the passion of The Christ in the late 80's and a living Christmas tree choir. So moving we were in tears. My tears flowed in that big church auditorium when they whipped him down the aisle to the cross on the altar. This came on the car radio as we were parking and my mom, her mom, me and me daughter, 4 generations just sat in the car until this song finished. We couldn't get out! He's alive!!! I'm forgiven!!! She tells the story, while singing every note high/low, that you can see it like a movie or like you were there. Amazing is not the word. Emotional all the way. I remember back in 1992 this song was being played on CME so much, it was so tranquil - Dolly Pardon - He is Alive. Prior to this time I knew of Davie and Goliath by Dave Clokey and listened to Pastor Frederick K. Price from L.A., California. But I had hit a point in life where I was so lost.
I must have heard this song on and off at least seven times on CME. But one morning I had awoken sleeping on the couch to this song. I remember as a child unconsciously believing in God but really only like a fable or story. I thought Jesus was just a creative story. But awakening to this song on the 8th Day to this song circa 1992 was the day I realized Jesus was real. He is Alive. Thank you, Dolly.
A classic performance for all time!!! We all need to be grateful it was captured on video. You TELL people how great the performance was and they don’t believe you. You SHOW them this video and they’re usually hypnotized. Then their jaws drop to the floor when she breaks into that first “he’s alive.” This song is not easy to sing. It’s very demanding, vocally.
