Cat Launch off the U.S.S. Stennis aboard a C-2A Greyhound

  • On the embark to the U.S.S. Stennis, the crew placed my Canon DSLR camera in a large green canvas bag along with other passenger carry-ons. Of course, even though I had my smartphone, I, like all my fellow travelers, followed instructions not to take them out for the carrier trap because of the dangers of it flying through the cabin. For the return back to San Diego post-brief, I went to hand my camera to the C-2A flight crew for the same treatment. However, his bag was pretty full. I told him to just jam it in the bag, but he seemed uncomfortable and said I could carry it on if I wanted to but to hold it tight. I wrapped the strap around my left arm as I didn't want it around my neck for the cat shot. I had no idea if this was going to work as I it was in my lap and I just pointed it at myself.
