I keep coming back to this. Probably because UA-cam recommends it to me again and again. But I'm not complaining. I could listen to Terry Riley play for hours (usually you have to).
Somehow their music are worlds apart, Terry Riley in this picture reminds me of a younger John Williams in the 70's era. Must be the long hair and beard.
This is incredible, but it's never discussed like In C or A Rainbow in Curved Air has been. It's a shame that Happy Ending was never released in the United States, it was released in France. It could have easily seen a release in the States seeing it was on Warner. This ranks with his very best. I really need to get a copy, but I hate having to pay that ridiculous shipping and handling to get a copy shipped here to the States, while I was easily able to get In C and A Rainbow in Curved Air in record shops near where I live.
"sir, if there's anything at all missing from "creative music" (whatever the fuck that is), at present time, it's only you grasping it"... is what i was about to write, and then i saw your comment was five years old, and i laughed a real sincere laugh. For i was just pissing onto the wind.
Okay. For me "the death of. . . " gives it a more poignant feel. But Terry changes titles, it appears, sometimes. I have lost many friends over the decades and feel this. . . FEEL the title of this one, deeply.
Music for the angels and angelinas among us, fly on spirits fly on.

@Timothy Leland Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D I really appreciate it!
@Ismael Noah you are welcome =)
I've never listened, what a delight.
When I need to get a lot of work done, I put Terry Riley on. Hours melt away.
RIP, father. 1972-12-24
Ho sentito suonare Riley dal vivo a Roma negli anni 70. Magnifico ricordo!
For me this is a masterpiece that lulled me into sci-fi heaven. Thank you.
