I’ve had this grinder for 6 months and I love it. It’s perfect for grinding exactly what you want and with minimal mess. I’ve had some that leave grinds all over.

I heard this was not a good grinder for coarse coffee and was hoping you would use this grinder to grind for a french press which is what your channel is about!

Thank you I literally came here for the same thing and instead he showed us how to grind for the most basic coffee possible.

I received mine today and I could not believe how great it could grind an espresso grind and even a Turkish coffee by grinding the beans to a baby powder-like consistency. One of the only Chinese-built grinders that can do so. The only thing they could have packed in the box would be a soft brush. But it can be purchased for very little money and can choose one of your own liking.

I've had this grinder over two years. It's just okay. Best at the course setting doesn't do fine grinds very well.

You did not cover static. It would have helped if you had shown us the inside of the catch cup after grinding the beans.

I've uses this grinder daily for almost two years and static in the grind chamber is so bad that it causes clumping of the ground coffee which doesn't let it exit the chute into the lower tin. Further grinding is impossible without dumping the coffee out. I've searched for a remedy for this and the one I tried didnt work. Such a nice grinder is sitting unusable.

How often do you recommend disassembling to clean?

Great review, gave a thumbs up, but one minor critique: Can you have the cord/plug on the top of the counter while you're showing how to disassemble these grinders, and take a sec to tell folks to unplug these every time? Regardless of what we think the safety features will and won't allow, you gotta unplug it every time. Sorry to be Fire Marshal Bill :D

Gail, I received mine today and I must say that I tested all ranges of the coarse, medium and fine grinds. Only at the highest point in the coarse grind mark was there some inconsistency but only about 10 percent at best. In all other grind specs, it performed like champion. Maybe I had a blessed burr set and yours was not. HAHAZ! The real surprise came in the fine settings. I was flabbergasted when at the upper range of the fine settings there was a fine grind output but not fine enough for espresso. However in the middle of the fine range, it made an excellent espresso grind with fine value that I could feel with my fingers. However, when moving down to the absolute lowest setting in the fine range, the grinder ground the beans with a Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder-like consistency that would be heaven for a nice Turkish coffee machine.
So many grinder manufacturers claim that their grinders can produce all ranges of grinds from espresso to French press when they know it’s impossible for their grinders to do so. But they claim it anyway. But the makers of this OXO grinder really can make this claim. This grinder along with the same grinder with the included scale (which to me is a waste of money) can really do it. I can’t imagine why anyone would really want to purchase the one with the imbedded scale because it’s totally impractical. It can gave you the weight of the coffee beans but it can’t give the amount of time it takes to make the espresso or other type of coffee. If you dial in an espresso, for example, for a 2:1 ratio, this scale can tell you that but the all important time it takes to dial it in to insure you a not over- or under-extracting is left unanswered. “Sed, suum autem suum cuique.”

How noisy is it? I like burr ground coffee, but the noise of the electrical grinders is high.

I've used this unit for about 9 months. It does a great job and is easy to use. The one concern I've found is that a bit of ground coffee will remain in the discharge chute each time. I haven't found an easy way to clean the discharge chute. If anyone has solved this issue please let me know.

Have you tried running for 10 seconds while the hopper is empty to clear any remaining grounds?

    • @kevincharles3309
      @kevincharles3309 2 роки тому +1

@@cosmopayne I set the timer for about 5 seconds longer than it takes to grind coffee beans. And I tap the side while it grinds and until it stops. But some grounds still remain. Plus I'm not aware of a way to easily clean the chute. I'm open to suggestions.

I’ve had this for a few months now and it works so well for me. It grinds my coffee beans consistently for my moka pot. Although, I’ve noticed that it doesn’t grind consistently when it comes to coarser setting.
I like that it’s easy to clean. I love the stainless steel catch cup, too! Overall, a very good entry level grinder.

Why didn’t you use a coffee scale and measure how much retention is left? That is what is so important since the grinder really can do an excellent espresso grind. That it does a fantastic espresso grind is what makes this grinder so exciting!

I've had this Exact OXO Burr Grinder for about 9 month now, I love it BUT is makes a mess from under the machine itself, There is an opening at the Bottom to allow air intake to cool the motor, I find coffee grounds coming out of this opening at the bottom. Is this normal or the machine is defective ? is there something I can do to prevent this ?
