Have you seen this sort of damage to vinyl siding before...?
Vinyl siding wouldn’t be my first choice but if budget was tight and I didn’t have many other options I’d make sure to consider the surroundings for possible issues.
Starting with neighboring windows, they can melt the siding and cause it to ripple. You’re options are limited to planting trees or bushes to block the reflection, or treating the windows with a film that will reduce the glare.
If you’re hell bent on vinyl, get a quote for upgrading to a heat resistant vinyl that can withstand this reflective heat. It might be worth it in the long run.

Never would have ever thought this could happen
Everybody who builds houses.
I have seen this happening very often. Cheaper materials.
Well that resolves a headscratcher for me. I park my car to the south of my house (no trees to block the sun.) I had damage to the vinyl pieces around my car window and it happened with that same slanting angle. I thought some rando-jerk with a blow torch had done it!
Recommend going with wood. I lived in an apartment that was built in 2003 & had cheap vinyl and was in the sun. It didn't melt but it was so brittle after 20 years it would break if you bumped it. Now I have a home that was built with wood siding. No issues with wood.
Unfortunate but the curve of damaged siding that the path of the sun caused is pretty cool
All the more reason to not have close neighbors.
Option 4 - buy mirrors that are ponted straight back if option 1-3 fail
I had this happen on my home where there is an internal corner of about 15’ due to floor plan. At certain times of the day at certain times of the year the sun hits the kitchen window just right and it reflects onto the siding on the wall perpendicular to that window which causes the siding to get messed up. It took me a couple years to figure out what was going on until one day I saw the bright light being focused on the siding and realized what was causing it.
Could this eventually catch fire with enough exposure? All the melting is changing the composition.
Remember guys it’s cheaper to bust out the neighbors windows and make them replace them… 😂
Option #4. DON'T BUILD YOUR HOUSE WITH PLASTIC
I believe another term for this is called oil canning, the same thing can happen on metal roofs as well.
The trees will wilt and eventually die, get metal siding that looks like vinyl if you don't like metal panels
Where I worked we called this, "living in the bozone!"
cement panel is more expensive but more durable under heat
Not the problem here but the reason this happens most of the time. Vinyl siding needs to be able to move. If the builder, usually DIYers, nail the nails tight so it can't expand and contract. You leave space behind each nail. It's weird but true.
There's UV paint that you can buy.
Just don't have neighbors
All houses in finland use wood siding and no one has problems like this
What about dry rot or something like that. How is it to maintain the wood?
@@creepergaming3445 keep it painted. Wood is beautiful but requires more maintenance and therefore more $$
Vinyl or even aluminum is more practical for most people
I have vinyl siding, but I haven’t had this problem. Mostly because none of the nearby houses have enough glass or are positioned in such a way as to reflect the sun. if I was building a house, I would not get vinyl siding. I’ve been looking into fiber cement siding. Although I’ll probably just keep what I’ve got.
I like the plant idea. Looks beautiful but soooo many bugs 😔👊🏾💥. I wouldn't do vinyl tho ive seen too many issues with in especially for humid areas.
I'll go with the baseball bat method.🎉 Just kidding! So I guess you wouldn't want to use this siding in places like Death Valley right ? 😂
Well... Fuck vinyl siding I guess... Can't have nothing nice and cheap....
I refuse to own vinyl siding again !
Can ask neighbour to put screening on window because some cases could be a fire hazard i would think .i wouldnt take the risk.you wouldnt even need me to be buttered up as neighbour ,Id want to know anyway but if i coudnt afford it Id be stuck.maybe shade like umbrella would help.
Build concrete & brick walls simple 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
Heat resistant. After doing electrical service on houses with aluminum siding, I'm very much against it lol
Cheap windows. Theyre everywhere like this and it is ridiculous. They can also be unsafe when focused like this.
This guy just shows his old videos with new titles
Option 4: skip the garbage plastic siding and get stucco siding or install Hardie board.
Hehehe, my house will be all wood. No plastic. No foam. No perticle junk.
This only happens to the cheapest siding made. And this isn't common this happens to less than 1/2 of 1% of houses with vinyl siding
That stuff is junk. Don’t go with vinyl siding go with LP smart trim.
Also if the insulation has the silver shiny backing on it, it can cause that to happen too.
If the shiny side is facing out then it gets heat trapped between the silver and the siding, and can melt it.
And probably a combination of that causes bad issues like that.
Its trash so
Vinyle SUCKS except as 45s, 33s, 78s and tarps.
Lol yes, I've seen this before .. never get vinyl siding it's the cheapest crap around. 😂
Vinyl siding should be illegal, ITS ALL JUNK
Yep, 366 loE and 270 loE glass both reflect the sun enough to ripple any type of thin vinyl.
And all new residential windows are made with 270 or 366 glass.
Our home is elevated compared to the neighbors behind us. Even though they are quite a distance away, they can't use their patio in the evening. The sun sets above their house, its rays hit my west side, and the reflections make it unbearably hot for them. I planted some thuja evergreens a few years ago, and they are just now starting to help.
Saw that footage over a year ago dude. Don’t believe it’s your buddy’s.
As a contractor i dont prefer Vinyl for durability issues including this one.
don't use crappy vinyl siding - cheap look anyway
Mirrors to reflect the rays back into neighbors’ windows.
If it can melt the sides of the house than it can probably set something on fire.
If the vinyl siding materials were free I still wouldn't install it 😅
Yea, that's a no for me. Plastic is plastic. Wood, stone, or steel.
This happens to syn turf as well I work I warranty and had a few cases of this
Use cement board. Not cheap plastic.
It's trash, looks great at first but then gets britle and goes to crap
I have a friend that has them and lives backing a golf course ..holes and dents everywhere...😂
Looks great?
What about vinyl or most other types of siding looks great?
Option 3 just build a brick house
And the best option is option is to dont buy this crap🤷♂️
Use Hardie board not the cheap vinyl crap
Don’t Install vinyl siding in your house
There is the other option but you can get arrested if caught
why buy a house if your neighbors are that close?
conclusion: vinyl siding... not a good idea.
Another reason why vinyl is cheap shit
Another option is to use fiber cement board siding, traditional wood siding, brick, stucco, stone veneer, or aluminum siding instead of vinyl siding
Just stick a bunch of mirrors to the side of ur house
This is why you never get vinyl siding.
I have always used metal siding
It’s melt turf laid close to the house too.
Sun screens will eliminate the issue.
hehehe american plastic houses
Definitely getting heat resist.
That’s what they get for cheaping out on vinyl siding
I’ll just stucco that whole wall
SHIT MELTS IN PHOENIX 😂😅
f****ing neighbors
Ever heard of a vinyl fence causing vinyl siding or aluminum door frame to warp?
NEVER vinyl.
I do believe it
And this is why my house is made of brick.
You forgot the option of Aluminum siding.
Stone and brick veneer only
Her voice is so soothing ❤
PSA wow
Good to know
Moral of the story, dont use this shit
