I’m sure he loves being able to complete multiple inspections at the same location on the same day. I believe they are paid a flat fee and don’t get anything extra for travel.
I guess I've been doing this stuff too long because chassis cert day is little more than an inconvenient formality to me. I think the only time I've ever worried about something not passing was the time we updated a certain bodyless Corvette to an actual spec so the customer could go even more faster and quicker than the car was ever built to go.
Kevin please have Eddie video tape a bunch of his adventure and put it on the channel. A lot of us would absolutely love to see behind the scenes at the nurburgring and spa. Keep up the good work brother love your channel
When we were building chassis ,we got caught during inspection. We used a piece that we thought was correct but was found to be thin. Standard practice became measuring thickness before it gets cut.
Make sure Eddie gets video!!! Sounds like a awesome adventure! Well done on the chassis Kevin! Never had a doubt, you do awesome work!! And I always learn something!
Nice info! Pretty cool seeing how they use a guide (the printed color coded schematic) and technology (the radar thickness tool) to keep things consistent!!! Great work Kevin and the KSR Team. Congrats on all the shop pregnancies too, lol!!!!
That was pretty cool to see the process of the certifications. And it was great for the inspector to allow you to show us a little bit more of the tools that he uses and what he inspects to keep everybody safe. Happy Fourth of July to you and I hope Eddie has a great vacation and film some of it for us.
Kevin, you are paying Eddie too much! Flying to the UK to watch the British GP then to the Nurburgring and Spa with laps. I can't even afford to go to Silverstone and I live in the UK!
I love that NHRA does such a thorough inspection. Years ago I did road racing and some of the cages that passed definitely shouldn't have. Hope that's improved over the years
The Green Hell is amazing. What's more amazing is many people in Europe and the UK think we have so much they want to see. Indy, COTA, Laguna, Daytona, Bonneville. Thousands of tracks for every kind of motorsport doing something every weekend of the summer months. MERICA!
I had a great day riding my Indian with friends up to George Washington's birthplace. When I got home I discovered a KSR video. What a great day to be alive. Thanks for making my day even better Kevin. I hope you and your family have a great day celebrating our freedoms.
Our first funny car was parked in the pits ready to make a test pass when we found out we needed to recert the chassis because we were new owners! I've learned since then that it's easier to do that before they are painted and assembled!
On this July 4 ,( July 1 in Canada ) be sure to do your part in repelling the Sky People by lighting off spectacular devices that launch high into the sky leaving a luminescent multi colored trail. Some of these devices have a concussion charge to further disorient / repel the Sky People.
Great video Kevin! With your and your teams attention to detail, I had no doubts that the cars would pass the inspections. Take care and stay safe. Tell Eddie to stay safe in his travels and adventures!
I just reupped my certs on similar equipment for non destructive testing. Since I'm testing pipes that handle liquid, it's a little more in-depth but same concept.
Love Lawn Dart.. had a 63 dart years ago slant 6.. drove it to work and back every day till it rusted into nothingness, but that old slant 6 still ran like a top..
Thanks for sharing that Kevin... I spent this morning doing bodywork on my 62..... i HATE bodywork and i'm slow and bad at it... but gotta get it done :)
Really enjoying your build vids. Learning a lot and appreciate your explanations. Like your no bull style. Eddie will find the N-ring very bumpy. Thanks and best wishes.
Kevin y'all do great work with your chassis builds. If it's any consolation, if I had the money to spare, I'd let you build a car for me. That's it for Eddie. I don't like him anymore after his F1 trip. That is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Never pass that stuff up. It's alright Eddie, I'll forgive you but it still hurts to miss that trip.
So the last few years, you have been able to kinda line up a motorsports trip through Europe. The dates for Le Mans, Isle of Man, N24 (Nurburgring 24hr race) and Spa 24 all usually run real close weekends, so much so that you can pretty much go to a different event for 4 consecutive weekends. This year it started with Isle of Man, then N24, then Le Mans test day, then Le Mans race and finally Spa 24. That spanned from 27th March to 23rd June.
That was a pretty cool little machine to keep people honest when building race car chassis 👌 And it's never a dull moment with Eddie around 🤔😛😆😆 Happy 4th 🎆🎇🧨
Happy independence day to you and the rest of your team! With your attention for details I would be surprised if the inspector would find anything wrong.
Nice one Eddie! I’m based near Liverpool in England and have done the same drive down to the Nurburgring and Spa for some laps in my Ford Focus RS2, it’s a great journey, and the tracks are awesome! Don’t forget to smash it on the autobahn too!!! 😊🏎️🏁
Started looking for tickets for Monaco back in February/march. All that was really left was almost $5000, without airfare there or lodging. Still a race on my bucket list to make, maybe later in life i can get it to line up
Good to hear you passed your inspection. Am not surprised, with the kind of results you constantly achieve. Looks like you get on well with the inspector too. The racing business is more or less a family affair. It certainly was when I was part of a road racing pit crew, Mini 1000 Challenge series here in Blighty. Am also not sure if I have missed the Viper racing, havent seen any so far this season. All the best to you and yours kevin, hopefully it will be a painless birth PMSL :)
Eddie and the infamous ignition coil eating oil burning Nissan Sentra SE-R... They're pretty quick for what they are when they run right, they just love to eat Ignition coils and oil.
Kev, you know what would have been cool. Measure a straight piece of tubing in a specific area, then bend in the same place and measure the inside and outside radius.
I went to Vegas last year and something folks forget is that there are tons of cheap hotels in the area and almost everywhere has a direct flight. When I have to include the cost of lost work that's where there's trade off for going overseas. Don't know if it is still the cheat code it used to be but the best easiest race to get to from the US is Montreal. Flights aren't too expensive from most places, if you book hotels early they aren't too bad and you can use the train to get to and from the race. Plus it is just a great race.
Ultrasonic Thickness Testing, been doing that a long time. You can also use an instrument based on that to check weld quality. Tube and or pipe will vairy in thickness but there is a minimum wall thickness. It sucks when your tube comes in new at min. wall because when you start working with it you may end up with a peace that's too thin by accident.
Tell Eddie to check there car insurance. Just watched AdamLZ video and he was there at Nuremberg ring and they mentioned most UK insurance have a clause that excludes the Nuremberg ring.
I am sure that inspector was busy that day, nice to see the process for keeping people safe on race day.
I’m sure he loves being able to complete multiple inspections at the same location on the same day. I believe they are paid a flat fee and don’t get anything extra for travel.
For those that come out with new or upgraded cars, they (Gainesville Raceway) always has a chassis-cert day at the begging of each year as well...
@@danmyers9372they definitely do charge travel. They don't charge travel at race events.
I guess I've been doing this stuff too long because chassis cert day is little more than an inconvenient formality to me. I think the only time I've ever worried about something not passing was the time we updated a certain bodyless Corvette to an actual spec so the customer could go even more faster and quicker than the car was ever built to go.
There’s a pattern with that guy isn’t there…….hahaha
Body coming. May be ugly though
Kevin please have Eddie video tape a bunch of his adventure and put it on the channel. A lot of us would absolutely love to see behind the scenes at the nurburgring and spa. Keep up the good work brother love your channel
I hope eddie takes vids of the ring and please share
July 4th with KSR, man Im proud to be an American who is subscribed to this channel. 'Merica is proud of super citizen Kevin Smith
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

A tribute to attention to detail. Very well done! Regards, Stephen.
Make sure Eddie gets video!!! Sounds like a awesome adventure!
Well done on the chassis Kevin! Never had a doubt, you do awesome work!! And I always learn something!
Great to see all the chassis certified. Looking forward to more from KSR.
I like how Eddie tripped over his old disc/drum rear while you were talking to the camera
You weren’t supposed to see that 😂
Nice info! Pretty cool seeing how they use a guide (the printed color coded schematic) and technology (the radar thickness tool) to keep things consistent!!!

I really admire you Kevin and Steve is a good guy just like you. I wish nothing but the very best for both of you and please never change.
Congratulations on the CERTS. And Happy 4th to everybody.
I love that NHRA does such a thorough inspection. Years ago I did road racing and some of the cages that passed definitely shouldn't have. Hope that's improved over the years
It sounds like Eddie is going on the trip of a lifetime. Happy Independence Day to you all down there!

OMG ... Pikes Peak. How could I forget her.
Good luck in the UK and Europe, from the UK 😊
Very cool watching the inspection!
You and Eddie are great together.
We love you guys!
Chassis Inspector Eddie is the hero we need.
Good of you to host outside builds for inspection as well as your own.
Thanks Kevin love everything you do
12.02 am Australia 5 July. Guess I not going to bed yet . Thanks keep up the great work
I know the feeling, here in the States we get CEE Australia vids that drop at midnight west coast time and bed gets postponed for those as well.
Nice to see everything coming together.
Keep up the great work.
I had a great day riding my Indian with friends up to George Washington's birthplace. When I got home I discovered a KSR video. What a great day to be alive.
Thanks for making my day even better Kevin. I hope you and your family have a great day celebrating our freedoms.
Big KSR-fan here....if Eddy needs sth. on his trip to Germany let me know!
You have done a wonderful job my friend. Keep up the fantastic work. This channel rocks. You keep it real. Thankyou.
Enjoy the trip, Eddie. It sounds like it will be amazing.
As Kevin said, be careful playing with your fireworks. Make sure at the end of the night you can still count to 21 and for the ladies just 20.😂
Eddie I'm jealous.Your going on the perfect vacation.Enjoy my friend!
Oh HAPPY 4TH GENTLEMEN!
Thanks!!
Would be great to see a KSR take on the UK/EU, F1, all the museums and history, Santa Pod for some English drag racing!
Our first funny car was parked in the pits ready to make a test pass when we found out we needed to recert the chassis because we were new owners! I've learned since then that it's easier to do that before they are painted and assembled!
"me and CJ did spend a week together" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Dangit - the GP was awesome this year! A fortunate son, indeed!

So are you attempting comedy? Because if you are you suck bro.

Good morning Kevin, great video again. Good to see some behind the scenes info on what happens during certification.

Thank you Kevin for showing this inspection process! I am very interested in the process. Happy 4th of July brother be safe America!
Is that a frickin B15 Spec V sentra on the lift? WOW!!!
Nice one Eddie! I’m based near Liverpool in England and have done the same drive down to the Nurburgring and Spa for some laps in my Ford Focus RS2, it’s a great journey, and the tracks are awesome! Don’t forget to smash it on the autobahn too!!! 😊🏎️🏁

KSR Eddie, just throwing a hotdog down a hallway.... LOL
Happy Forth of July KSR!! Enjoyed the knowledge drop!! Never had seen the cert process. Look Forward to the Sunday Cutlass video!!
Kev, you know what would have been cool. Measure a straight piece of tubing in a specific area, then bend in the same place and measure the inside and outside radius.
Great content thanks for sharing

They do, and there are also HUGE potential bills if you crash at the ring
Actually most of Europe has that clause. Especially don't take a rental round, unless it's specifically a ring rental!
Cool video! Enjoyed watching ✌️ 😎
just wanted to say Happy 4th of July to everyone Have a great day and God Bless everyone
Spec it out and make it happen Kevin will be better than you ever expected UT inspection and more,!!’
Kevin if you come to COTA next year, let me know I’d love to come and meet you and shake your hand

Happy 4th of July Kevin and crew
I'm sure the inspector was glad to work with a hoist in a shop with A/C and then be able to do a couple of cars without travelling.
Just for a laugh. You need a T-shirt that’s says ”shave that gray” lol
Happy 4th Kevin and crew.
Kevin looks like a young Christopher Lloyd in the thumbnail...
"KSR: a race odyssey"
HA!
Thanks for sharing another great video and Happy 4th Of July. 👍😎👍
My man Kevin always has even numbered video lengths 😂. Never 20:01 minutes for example. Details matter!
Happy independence day!
Certified mean machine
I'll be at COTA for F1, come on down!
