    I'm a true DW gear freak (my kit is a custom made Collectors, all my hardware is 9000 and I love them) but when it comes to new design ideas, hands down Pearl and Tama are killin' it! I have the One touch clutch but the new Pearl clutch is waaaaaay better.

    Can't you just use foot pressure to do the same thing? Maybe I'll get flamed for not knowing enough, but I'm not looking for that. Just tell me why this is better than foot pressure? It isn't a double bass pedal where I can't have my left foot on the hats. I'm honestly curious. Please help me learn why this helps.

    • @IAMDRUMMER
      @IAMDRUMMER  6 місяців тому

      Are you asking why you can just add or decrease foot pressure, one of the main reasons for using a clutch like this is to change the amount of tension on the top cymbal on the fly. The loser it is the more the top cymbal will move adding more wash and air movement between the hats.

    After more thought... I'm still learning, I still don't get how it helps to have something like this. You have to take a hand off a stick, reach up and twist the nut, then you get a different tightness on the hats. Again, why can't foot pressure do this? Foot pressure is what I do, but if there is another option, I'm all ears to suggestions. Again, I'm just curious and want to learn more.

    • @IAMDRUMMER
      @IAMDRUMMER  6 місяців тому

      You still need to take a hand off the stick so to speak to adjust any clutch but this one is a lot easier to do and control.

    • @jc3drums916
      @jc3drums916 5 місяців тому

      It has nothing to do with how tightly the two cymbals are held together. It's about how much space there is between the felts that hold the top cymbal. If the top cymbal is too loose in the clutch, there's a tactile click when you close/open it with your foot, caused by the delay between the top cymbal contacting the bottom cymbal, and the top felt pushing the top cymbal down tightly (backwards for open). If the top cymbal is too tight in the clutch, the cymbal is unable to move, which may affect the sound of the hi-hat in an undesirable way. In either scenario, foot pressure is useless to alleviate the problem. The first problem is most common, because the two nuts used to adjust how tightly the top cymbal is held can loosen over time. You don't really notice they're loose until you feel the click I described, and it can be very annoying to have to finish a song while the hi-hat is clicking like that. The second problem only happens because someone else messed with your clutch setting.

    total pain in the ass! especially if you've got arthritis in the hands. It keeps on locking up both top and bottom screws. I never had. any issues with the old clutch. I'm returning it, not fit for purpose. As someone down below said, over engineered.

Too many people do it and it’s really frustrating and it probably costs subscribers. What happened to being a professional. Concision. Learn it. Love it. Be awesome.

      It’s a hi hat clutch, just like any other clutch you remove the bottom place the clutch on the cymbal the replace the threaded bottom.
      Wasn’t aware this would needed a tutorial.
