Next time you drive past a old dock or pier that has newer construction near it to show a contrast of new and old dock wood. Look at the barnacle lines. The barnacle levels are the same. If sea levels were rising the barnacle lines would be different not the same as 100 years ago. A buddy at NOAA pointed this out to me.
It’s the best life though! Houses should be on stilts ! I’m sure engineering dudes can fix this somehow! These are beautiful and heritage all wrapped into one! Folks gotta try a Smith Island 🏝 homemade cake it’s to die for fresh from their 🧁 bakery
I was quite literally on the exact same boat this week- I got to visit this amazing place and if I had the money I would love to stay forever

What about trying the windmill technique as the Dutch did.
"100 men couldn't get me off this island" i love his accent, and what a smart young man.

Doesn't mean much, go look at Google Earth and the land destruction over the years since the 80s. The water is rising and eroding in this area.
Was on the island during 1972 Hurricane Agnes

I always wanted to visit Smith Island but is a long drive from Baltimore.
Stilts don't do much, nature will still destroy them.
