The expression on Karns face as he looks up at Elspeth... That was my soul as I watched the same heroes I cheered for years ago still fighting the good fight. I needed this more than I knew... Rest in peace Omnath
It's too bad that Magic can't write a compelling ending to save their life. After building up the phyrexian threat for multiple years, it's amazing how easily they were all defeated by every single plane. Vorenclex gets killed in the stupidest way possible, Ajani and Nissa get magically healed. There are barely any lasting implications for our heroes to make anyone believe that the phyrexian invasion "was actually a threat to the multiverse". Truly lazy storytelling.
This is something ironic, in the War of the Spark the entire narrative is well done and built for the confrontation against Nicol Bolas, in the fight against the Phyrexianos it is done in such a way that it has no legs or head, like for example Serra who was dead out of nowhere to come back and bring Elspeth back into the fight, the truth is that after the War of the Spark, Magic Lore unfortunately died and is now just a walking corpse
@someguy6627 It might even be true, but if I had to choose between the War of the Spark and the War against the Phyrexians, I'd go with Nicol Bolas, because the Phyrexians had all this mystique surrounding them about how dangerous they are, and when the invasion began all the planes were practically able to defend themselves so they are not a big deal, the impression that remains is this, which is why I like all the development in the War of the Spark more, even with some disappointments such as Chandra's relationship with Nissa
Hope that's not the end of Phyrexia. We still to learn where Jace has left - maybe to visit and compleat one particular elder dragon and ex-planeswalker, hmm?
ok this is amazing but can we get like, a show or movies? the scope of Magics story is so insane, I do wish sometimes the media would fit that scope. i want to see the phrexians marching across the multiverse!
That's some gorgeous 3D with attention to detail. 0:22 her neck 0:36 her stomach flexing as if breathing, 0:55 that "gotcha" smile, 1:45 and that fury!!!
They resurrected Elspeth for the second time and cured Ajani. Wizards, can you stop giving plot shields to your favorite characters, please? Let them die already and move on!
Yay! So we went from war of the spark trailer to trailer that wont add up totally with story and card art direction after Elspeth pulled one of most epic stunts in mtg history arriving with steel chair xD way to celebrating conclusion of phyrexian arc for 30th Anniversary
For them to treat Phyrexia how they did in the story is pretty unacceptable to me. The Phyrexian invasion of the multiverse is THE most anticipated event in MTG history. It's been building since before Mirrodin, with Phyrexians spending millenia perfecting themselves, and their Praetors strong enough to best and even capture/convert planeswalkers. Phyrexia achieved so much without special inborn god-like abilities and their champions stood equal, if not more so, to planeswalkers. And they all get elimated in 5 seconds. With virtually no consequences and even less stakes. Good thing the cards are cool and let make our own stories through the game, because the story is pretty much just woke garbage at this point.
As much as I appreciate the artists, I have to say, direction-wise it is incredible how much style and soul has been lost. That grit is nowhere to be found.
God's glory is shown in Elsepth and truly the end times signs are around. So forth God will defeat Elesh Norn with Elsepth's glory in her. So that all will be purified and no more Phyrexia shall be.
Really hope this set doesn't feel like I'm movies when they show the world being destroyed by a massive tsunami, and to show this, they have a shot of a wave hitting the statue of liberty, the eifel tower, the leaning tower of piza, etc. Based on the Etali spoilers and the planes we see here... i think it's gone be like this...
Norn's face plate isn't exactly in line with phyrexia's design of perfection. In fact a lot of the way the new material is written just seems so cobbled together. The praetors just happened. Norn somehow dominated the rest (probably to show she is a strong independent women) and they somehow have enough material to invade the multiverse on all fronts. It's fun, but not convincing. Especially for those who are keen on phyrexian lore.
I'm really glad for Elspeth, I just wish her card felt more "battle angel climactic." Like: 0: Archangel Elsepth becomes a 5/5 angel with flying and vigilance until end of turn +1: Target creature or planeswalker you control has indestructible until your next turn. -3: Destroy target white permanent

Wow is the bar really that low that so many people praising the trailer saying things like, "where's the Netflix show!!1!1!" When it literally just looks pretty why would you want a Netflix show when the writers are so lazy they'd just butcher any good characters they have with an awful story. Vorinclex & Jin getting killed by no names, atraxa had a story with some actual development with her starting to enjoy the art in the museum she was in to immediately get killed by them dropping *checks notes* new capenna on her? Lukka getting corrupted by small phyrexian creature he bonded with but wrenn not corrupted by arguably the strongest phyrexian creature when bonded with it, don't even get me started on the sets we wasted getting the sylex, learning to us the sylex, just for it to not to be used. This is a way better way to potrait Elesh and Elspeth meeting. Norn is so cool walking and sending the minions to fight instead of throwing things and pieces of preators at her.
A piece of Vorinclex beats any other conceivable projectile, didn't you know?
Totally disagree
@@ToonLinksDair She could have at least used a piece of Urabrask or Sheoldred's head. Phyrexians used to like to recycle.
It’s to show her breaking down. Everything she does is false. When Elspeth comes along and throws a wrench in her plans she is no longer able to put up the calm facade.
She didn’t want all to be one, she wanted all to be her.
@@twingemios5139 I understand and if we consider that Elspeth appearing was her nightmare since Ashiok did what he did, it has even more sense.
But she wasn't supposed to! She was the embodiment of white mana and of the will of Phyrexia and that's why I loved her. She just wanted a world of peace where everyone would be the same and that was scary and relatable. Why she had to turn into a crybaby? Why she had to turn into a classic evil character instead of a cool original one? Why an entire plane (or at least 3/5) should follow her? No one in New Phyrexia was enough smart to understand it? Sheoldred did it.
Also, I don't think that shaping the universe around yourself is really what a white mana creature would like to do!
Elesh Norn walking like she a character in a Tim Burton movie lolol
WOTC: We are bringing Elspeth back even more powerful than before as an Archangel to defeat Elesh Norn.
Also WOTC: +1 - Create a 1/1 with lifelink.....BEHOLD THE POWER
More fun if you consider how Elesh Norn, both versions, kinda crush ut Vs Elspeth
@@DarkTider both Norn’s are so good. Maybe it’s Elspeth’s sword that gives her so much power so we will see if we get an equipment of it like shadow spear.
I mean, it's her +1. What else would you expect lol?
@@omegaxtrigun I expect bigger bodies or multiple bodies. Not just a single 1/1 like that’s pathetic.

@@hazemazze7963 Out of curiosity, how much are you getting paid to defend this trainwreck of a story?
TBF that was the only plot they could realistically write after the events of All Will Be One. But TBF again they also wrote those events, so...
I also feel like there is an over-reliance on Deus Ex Machina in the MTG story these days.
This is why I love Wizards of the Coast. The official cinematic goes against the official lore. What a great company.
how so?
@@elitedarkchild5551 In the video you can see jin gitaxias about to kill Karn under Elesh norns command and elspeth saves him.
In the lore, many more people are there: Nissa, Chandra, Wren, Koth, Melira, A group of mirrodin soliders, and Karn is on a floating table. Realmbreaker should also be in-view.
Great company? Who? Certainly not Wizards or hasbro
@@tim57564 Ikr, thought the same thing, they been milking consumers for the past few years now
My guess: The lore-version was too expensive to animate (Phyrexia and a whole battle in the background) and/or they didn't write the lore yet (animation takes a lot of time).
I wish they made a full series like this on MTG
It wouldn’t sell enough
It was a shame the official trailer didn't show Elesh Norn throwing random objects at Elspeth like she did in the full story.
I loved it when she broke off vorinclex's horn to throw. 😂
elesh norn be like SNAP and then vorinclex went like ow ow ow
Where do people read the actual story?
This was an amazing cinematic. The raw emotion was just unreal. I have played this game since I was a child and it holds a special place in my heart. The expression on Karns face as he looks up at Elspeth... That was my soul as I watched the same heroes I cheered for years ago still fighting the good fight.
I needed this more than I knew... Rest in peace Omnath
Elesh Norn Will dominate the multiverse, and all will be on- OH MY GOD IT’S ELSPETH WITH A STEEL CHAIR
KING: WHAAA?!?
Wherr Colossal dreadmaw
Never played this game.
I just come for some awesome cinematic experience.
Keep it up!
Nice audio callback to "Elspeths music" from the Theros reels!:o
Not pictured: the entire rest of the crew getting their buts kicked trying to get Wrenn to the tree
NGL I would enjoy the human chain passing Wrenn around as the actual trailer. xD

Phyrexia forever

("All Will Be One" on Phyrexian)
I don't know how I feel about finally seeing the back of Elesh Norns head
It has already been shown in concept art all the way back when New Phyrexia was first introduced.
"I am Malenia, sword of Mikella..."
The Phyrexians and the voice of Elesh Norn reminded me of the Zerg and the Queen of Blades
The Zerg and their queen are much closer to the Golgari back when they were still led by Vraska tho.
They used to... The comprehensive stories from marquadian masques block past mirrodin were incredible...
@@gabriek6114To be fair, many people were also dissatisfied with how War of the Spark ended.
Well, they were a threat as they HAD succeeded in linking multiverses ┐( ∵ )┌
Elesh Norn is out here looking like a l o n g girl. I'm here for it
How can Elesh Norn claim perfection with teeth like that?
Hope that's not the end of Phyrexia. We still to learn where Jace has left - maybe to visit and compleat one particular elder dragon and ex-planeswalker, hmm?
The one part that got me was the musical reference to Elspeth's music in the Theros trailers around 0:55
I love Elspeth's little smirk when she kills that phyrexian, it just says "sure lady, but I don't think you'll be surviving this"
Say what you will about her, but Elesh Norn knows - when you make that entrance, POINT THOSE TOES!!
ok this is amazing but can we get like, a show or movies? the scope of Magics story is so insane, I do wish sometimes the media would fit that scope. i want to see the phrexians marching across the multiverse!
From the same company that made War of the spark cinematic trailer, comes this bad child.
They got my man Karn looking full derp.
That's some gorgeous 3D with attention to detail. 0:22 her neck 0:36 her stomach flexing as if breathing, 0:55 that "gotcha" smile, 1:45 and that fury!!!
Wotc: phyrexia will invades and everything will change
What we really get: phyrexia invades and gets stopped by random soldiers.
This is so anti-climactic. Turns out the Phyrexians were a paper tiger.
USA next?
@@keeganross vorinclex died to a rando who we don't even know the name of. Lol
The little hero sting from back in the Theros trailers is such a lovely touch.
WotC will never receive another penny from me.
For a woman who keeps designing things with teeth on them (and therefore should have been a dentist), Elish Norn has some messed up teeth.
Elesh Norn must have some serious bad breath if Elspeth has to shake it off from that distance.
You'd think with such a badass trailer Elspeth would be a good planeswalker. You'd think wrong
Praetors rise and fall but Phyrexia is forever.
Can't wait to play this set
New mommy killed old mommy
They resurrected Elspeth for the second time and cured Ajani. Wizards, can you stop giving plot shields to your favorite characters, please? Let them die already and move on!
So... the big plan, the great teased conflict will be over... Because of "Elspeth Ex Machina"?
Yeah, but don't blame all of the team, some of them just had to follow orders
R.I.P. Elesh Norn and to the phyrexians. All i can say is at least this story was a hell of a lot better then the war of the spark.
ayyyyyyyyyyyyye wizards of the coast pushing out another set of desired cards that will break your bank.. niiiice
As much as I appreciate the artists, I have to say, direction-wise it is incredible how much style and soul has been lost. That grit is nowhere to be found.
I was sort of expecting Karn to whisper a confused "Serra ??" looking up at Elspeth.
That Elspeth is going straight into my Adeline deck for sure
So epic Elspeth Arch Angel.
In case you're wondering, that sword is gonna go right where it looks like!
(sparkly eyes) I love arch angels :)
Was really hoping the Phyrexians would win this time. RIP Dommy Mommy
No, they're nasty and ugly creatures. Only one should win is Garruk/sharkhan or Emrakul
God's glory is shown in Elsepth and truly the end times signs are around. So forth God will defeat Elesh Norn with Elsepth's glory in her. So that all will be purified and no more Phyrexia shall be.
Karn is just upset he only has a Mine and a Powerplant and no expedition map to find a tower
Do you think Elesh Norn’s gigantic head crest ever gets in the way when she moves her arms?
Really hope this set doesn't feel like I'm movies when they show the world being destroyed by a massive tsunami, and to show this, they have a shot of a wave hitting the statue of liberty, the eifel tower, the leaning tower of piza, etc.
Based on the Etali spoilers and the planes we see here... i think it's gone be like this...
The machine. Just the one machine. Only one machine will march. Just one. Only one.
In Phyrexia, all is one.
Yeah, get 'em Elspeth! That's pretty epic 😎
She's my favorite character in all of Magic. To see her elevated like that was epic.
I really wanted phyrexia to win tbh
Elspeth's face when she first appears:
"Better luck next time, buddy"
I'm really glad for Elspeth, I just wish her card felt more "battle angel climactic." Like:
0: Archangel Elsepth becomes a 5/5 angel with flying and vigilance until end of turn
+1: Target creature or planeswalker you control has indestructible until your next turn.
-3: Destroy target white permanent
Non-land permanent* And yeah, New Capenna Elspeth seems way cooler
@@qwertasdfg3447 what do you mean non-land permanent? You don't want to make lands indestructible?
@@qwertasdfg3447 if you mean this for the -3 ability its unnecessary, lands are colorless so making it non-land permanent would be redundant
@@wingspantt Maybe obviate "white" I dunno, seeing "non-land" interactions is so common in the format. It feels like popping lands might be too op

Kinda wish they didn't just use the blue aligned phyrexians as what seems to be the main force

I stant chills!!!!! Following the story and what not, this was more than I could have hoped for from MTG. Elspeth looked amazing. And Karn!!!! Yes!!!! I. Rooting for the Mirren Resistance and our heroes. All will NOT be One
why did they gave their biomechanical abomination curves like this 💀
Wow is the bar really that low that so many people praising the trailer saying things like, "where's the Netflix show!!1!1!" When it literally just looks pretty why would you want a Netflix show when the writers are so lazy they'd just butcher any good characters they have with an awful story. What sad writing.
The main question is: will there be less than 25 different versions of Elspeth in the set?
It's cool that all of Elspeth's setup since Theros Beyond Death is finally playing out, but I'm meh on the angel thing
