- This is another video of setting up a fish finder. Todays video is of the Lowrance Hook Reveal and Hook series 2 fish finder. Programming these units along with the expert will allow you to learn your unit, As well as why everything is done. Going through the settings yourself is great for helping to learn your fish finder unit and for a better experience on the water. This helps to increase your odds of finding fish. If at any point you ever need to re-program your unit you can refer back to this video.

Ive had mines for a minute and was intimidated by this GPS. Is there a way to use it without attaching it to the boat?I want to practice using it without having to sit on the boat for hours

Im lucky i have the hds live, but instill found you made me understand some features better. When you went to custom setup you explained each of the settings in a way i can confidently play with the settings on my hds live. Plenty vids on them but they were talking jibberish to me. Taken me 1.5 years to get my head around it to get the sort of inage i want, and youve just taught me to fine tune it (sensitivitys etc and turn off surface clairity to improve the bottom).
Custom screens, adjusting splits, overlays, thats the easy stuff on a hds. But how to set the transducer up isa black art.

Good afternoon! Here I acquired the echolot lowrance hook reveal 9 tripleshot row. If it's not hard for you to tell, this is the question - when you insert a memory card into the echolot there is no fixing of the card, there is no click on the latch, the card is simply inserted into the slot with little friction and that's it. and in order to extract it, it is necessary to give it something (with a knife, for example) such a feeling that a simple slot is installed without fixing the card. After all, even in cheap phones there is a good slot with a latch. Just kind of upset about it. the thing is still not cheap. maybe this is a marriage and you need to contact the seller on warranty? see how you have. Thank you earlier for the answer!
One question. If a page is created with 3 parts, how do you adjust the size of both borders? When I selected the adjust split I can adjust the first border but not the second border. It shows the adjustment tab but can’t get it to toggle to the second border. Thanks again on video.

are talking about putting your unit up and down where it would be horizontal. So it moves perspectives like a phone?

Thank you! They have to be in the sonar cone angle to get the reading of the fish. There’s a great video we put out recently about Sonar Interpretation and how it works. I advice giving that a watch as that goes over everything about that! Cheers!

Great video. Best I have found for my Hook Reveal 5. Question. Do you know the size or degree of the cone for the different frequency settings? Can’t find any reference to this to help me determine the size of the area I am viewing. I have found rule of thumb calculations to determine the size of the cone on the bottom, but this missing ingredient is the degree of angle of the cone. Thank you.
Hey Ray, this can all vary with updates and transducer used. Some manufacturer's change them. Also if its on chirp as well. Check out our sonar interpretation video on our channel and it will give you a really good visual and information on it. Which transducer do you have?
This is great thank you i have a hook 2-4x and am looking to get an upgrade to a 5 or 7 hook reveal what do u recommend as i do pike fishing 🎣 n my boat?
well a 7 will allow better resolution for side and down scan. Depends on what depth you're targeting most of the year and what features you primarily use. Most of my pike when guiding are 15' or shallower all year. I will use side scan when they're down deeper in the summer.

Hey, What transducer is best option for my hook reveal 9.? I fish 15 to 100m Baltic sea. I ordered tripleshot, but I read that is for shallow sweet water. Is the 50/200 hdi maybe better for me or can I fish with tripleshot normal on 150m deeps?

the 50/200 will most likely be a better option on those deeper depths. The lower frequencies have better depth penetration and use in the salt. The 200 will be the same but you're probably going to need the 50.

I have a hook revelation5 model, I tested it without connecting the probe (just the voltage). I haven't registered yet.
Is GPS enabled by default or do you have to press a button for it to be active?

if it has GPS feature on it for mapping, then it should be automatically.

What’s the price points are you looking at?
I just got the 7 reveal and the included us inland maps from cmaps or the navionics map is trash! What can I get to make them look like this? I really like the cmaps app on my phone, but this version of cmaps is terrible, I am ready to return this, but this video gives me hope, thanks!
have you updated the maps at all for the chip. The CMAPS are relatively knew in Canada. We haven't had much of a chance to play around with them. You should be able to go into the chart menu's and add the details through the settings that way. Also the CMAPS are new everywhere. Make sure your Sonar unit is fully updated as well.
@@hookedntravel Mine came preloaded on the device, no sd chart card, so I am not sure if or how I can update it, it is very confusing, I called Lowrance today and they were no help, you can buy the unit from them with cmap contour+ installed, but I cant buy it from cmaps site, says it will only support Discover maps, whatever that is? The unit is up to date from what I can tell.
@@FoodPornNetwork Some of the maps that come pre-installed are not the premier maps from each company. Best to think of them as a base map with generic contours and lake perimeters. Companies usually offer The premiere maps separate. Thats what this could be. They said the unit only support discover maps? Is your unit updated to version 19.3?

my friend, which sensor have you installed and does it show you the side scan? I have the HDI XDCR and it doesn't give me a bottom.
this is the thru hull transducer? installed on a fibreglass boat? I believe this was running the triple shot transducer and 83/200 on this video.
So for ice fishing mode is downscan overlay the same thing as fishreveal?
we usually don't use downscan with ice fishing. You're correct, fish reveal is just downscan with your sonar returns overlayed on it.

Might be a dumb question, but if you go back to Auto Mode does it save your new settings or default back to the Auto Mode settings.
I don't have a hook infront of me, but based on other units it should flip back and forth to the auto equivalent of what you had on in manual and vice versa. Don't quote me on that. The autos are pretty good now adays. You can bump it up til you see the screen clutter then back it off til it starts to clean up the image. Check out our sonar interpretation video for more detail on that!. cheers

I believe at the time of that video we may have had the tripleshot.
In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.

Yes, You can just turn it to stop. Then run through the settings. Then fine tune it that last little bit on the water. Your gonna fine tune it in every piece of water, new bay or depth as well. Every pro who used any unit it always adjusting slightly for best quality

I just got the eagle 9 which apparently is the new version of the hook 9. I'm having trouble getting those images that come preloaded on the demo mode. In real life everything is so much more noisy
It's weird I get a noisy image unless I'm getting fast than 4 mph
@@CTRadventures when you're adjusting your settings, you are having it on regular mode. We just do it on demo mode in store to simulate on the water. Do not do the settings in demo mode
You can check the voltage, at what voltage will the battery not start?
Depending on motor but usually once it get below 11 it will have trouble starting. Most mercs are around 11.

we have the additional card with the cartography. Some units are sold with the additional cartography already installed as the base map. As a general rule with our vids, we have additional cards inside the unit.

What does it mean when the unit has sonar stopped? And how is it restarted?
sonar stopped means it just paused the unit from using the transducer. Hit the "stop sonar" button again and it will turn back on

its probably your transducer location on the transom. We have a video on "Sonar Interpretation", there's a section in that video on transducer placement and getting the right picture at speed. All transducers should read on plane.

se jigging sotto il sonar rimanendo fermo, aumenterei la velocità di scorrimento. Downscan è utilizzato principalmente quando l'imbarcazione viaggia a 2 miglia all'ora. Userei solo il tradizionale sonar 2d durante il jigging verticale. Aumenta la velocità di scorrimento.

your gonna have to add it onto the screen using the edit overlay feature
how do you get the simulator to work
Dont program your unit in simulator mode. It will loose the settings. Keep it in regular mode. We only do it for demonstration purposes only
How you get the sound for fish ID
you don't want Fish ID or the sound on for it either. It clutters the screen and mistakes debris/trees/ and other items in the column for fish. Please do not have this on. It really makes sonar interpretation next to impossible. Our latest video on sonar interpretation goes all through this. Its worth a watch!

Depending on where you are, some maps are better than others
How do I download the sonarcharttm
some units may come with a base map included on it, with varying levels of details. Usually not high detailed. You would have to buy an aftermarket mapping pre-loaded on an SD card. They're CMAP Discover/Reveal and Navionics available depending on your area's.

No volume
Hey Kathy. There's plenty of volume on the video, do you have your volume turned up? Also if listening via bluetooth, iPhones and androids have a volume limiter for hearing protection. Make sure to turn that off. cheers
