Great video! Just got one of these and have been frustrated with how slow it is stock on 2s. Do you think the 24tooth pinion would be faster and safe on 2s and 3s with the rest stock? The manual says the 24 will work with the stock spur.
I'm running mine with a 22 tooth pinion, stock spur and a 7 cell 8.4 nimh pack, stock electronics. I am quite competitive against guys who run 2s lipos.
Quite a gain from your first speed run on 2s! Did you happen to check motor and esc temps after these runs? I’m really thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these buggies.
Finally picked one of these up. Have you done anything else to yours since making this video? How has it held up for you? I picked up the DR10 sway bar and am shopping around for some B6 shocks.
I got one of these a short while ago and then went to order new sour and pinion. Mistakenly ordered 28 pinion and 78 spur. However, because I have them, I now want to install them lol. Running 3s what should I expect with everything stock on RB10
Hey just wondering for wheel setups what rims/wheels are you using that fit the RB10? Nothing officially says it will fit the RB10 on it so I'm unsure about offsets etc
I don't understand AE sending many of their new models out with very conservative gearing. 20mph on 2s with a brushless system is slow...yet that is how the RB, SR and probably the SC 2wd all come out of the box. There is no reason the reedy 3300 can't be geared for 30mph on a 2s.
I agree and the electronics will handle lots more ! I got the rb10 up to 72 mph on stock motor and esc 3slipo and different gearing of course .And the motor was barely warm
They're probably geared for quick start & acceleration vs top end speed. I know when I race at the track there honestly isn't a lot of times where I'm full throttle. And it's a pretty big track. This looks pretty fast here on 3s which is cool to see out here but for anyone who might not know, you can't run 3s at the track.
I am running a 6900kv motor geared 18/87 on 2s and im probably hittin the upper 40's/mph. I was running a 3500kv motor and couldnt get a decent speed with bigger pinions if i tried. I think a 5700kv with stock gearing on 2s would be the sweet spot.
87 tooth spur gear and a 23 tooth spur gear is pretty good for all kinds of running in dirt and street and will do about 40 mph on 3s lipo I think 69 is to small if your going to change the spur gear try 84 with a 23
Well if you crash maybe or hit a curb but I haven’t broke anything on my rb10 I have more videos of the buggy going lots faster and crashing and nothing broke
It’s interesting to see but I doesn’t make sense to me to do these speed tests with buggies, this sort of test would be more interesting for on road RCs. I’d rather see how buggies perform on the track and bashing/jumping.
That is about the perfect speed for these types of buggies. Just enough power and speed to have fun without breaking something.
Link for the rear wheels and tires

It will be just fine on 23 tooth pinion and it’s much faster

Nice. What tires on the front?
Be nice to see this on a track.
87t spur is odd on a buggy. 87t is usually on the truck version. 81t is usually a buggy spur

Did not get warm at all nice and cool !

@@misterts7635 I’m thinking about getting one too;)
Hi did u just change the motor pinion to 23
What about 2s with 23t
So going +5 on the pinion gave it 8 more mph?

What size pinion? Im thinking about the 69T spur and high 20’s low 30’s pinion if itll work.

bought the same rc, what improvements did you make to make it run like this?
A 23 tooth pinion and new rear tires on this video that’s it
With more speed you don't have problems breaking something?

well, thanks, I'll do this better, I really liked how it ran in this video, can't you give me the link of the pinion?
How hot did it get on 3s high speed gearing?
Just warm not hot at all !
