Astonishing, isn't it... how many women & girls in this thread - most of whom will no doubt, wear make-up, every day - have been fooled into believing that these celebs ''aren't wearing make-up'' (and haven't been photoshopped...) when we can clearly SEE the make-up on their skin...! I could understand men being fooled by it... but women..? They apply the bloody stuff every single day, yet they *can't see* it...? Save your money on all that ''Benefit'' and get laser eye surgery, I say... 🤦♀️
On Photoshopping: a single image used for one of JLo's perfume campaigns... spent *4 months* in post-production. Granted, that was an ad. campaign so they'd be even more obsessive about 'perfecting' it... but seriously, do people really believe that, when celebs go to such lengths to protect their image - to avoid the paparazzi, buying up and destroying 'unflattering' shots, when possible, etc. etc. - and ''Vogue'' and other such titles, need to preserve their reputation for Glamour, to maintain their position in a fiercely competitive market... that either the magazine or the celeb, would risk their status... by publishing any photo, let alone a Cover... in which they genuinely appear, totally bare-faced, and with No 'post-production' ? Come off it... wise up, people !
Not at any time since the modern concept of 'celebrity' began, in the early 20th c., with cinema & photography, would stars or the industry around them, be so foolish as to risk letting us see what's behind the illusion... and particularly not Now, when our brainwashed perception of 'Beauty' is the furthest from reality that it has ever been... this pretence of being 'the nice girl next door' that celebs such as Ariana trade off, and all the 'oh look, we're just like You, underneath...' is just another marketing ploy, a PR stunt to keep us fooled... they know that this totally artificial 'glamour' they've created, makes their fans - deep down - feel bad about themselves, so they need to mitigate against any possible backlash, any risk of alienating their own market (because that's what we Are, we're consumers, of celebrity 'culture'...) by pretending they're 'keeping it Real'... No, in reality - it's just as Fake, as all the glamour is...
