    These were great videos! I’m an intermediate winger in good river and looking to expand my foil world to doing stuff.

    Great to hear about your journey - its interesting to hear that you used the wing as well, really supports on foil skills from what we found. Its all about putting the parts of the jigsaw puzzle together ....paddle skills, foil skills, pump skills. Will - SUPboarder

      I'd assume it's the F-One Jam.

      It was the Armstrong APF1675

      To this day, I find my biggest skill deficit is paddle technique. It's so hard to get this right under the pressure of catching a bump.

    Nice work & top tips! Still following you just behind on progress. I've also managed flat water paddle ups and now fairly consistent with them. Hoping to get out in the bumps this week as we finally have some wind here on South Coast UK.

      It really is! Thanks for the kind words. I did my first DW in flat water a few days ago. It didn't go so well. Lots of paddling, not much foiling. I could get up ok, just struggling to stay up!

    Hi thanks for the video it’s cool 👍🏻👍🏻 When you speak of the HA 1450 for the bumps, is it the v1 or v2 version ?

    Wow congrats on the journey! So how long did it take you time-wise to get from that first paddle session to where you are now? I'm pretty similar to you, very decent wingfoiler in the waves, can connect waves proning, but zero paddling experience/skills. Have done a few wingfoil DW runs with a 3m wing trying to not use it and just rely on the foil, which is great fun but totally see the appeal of the freedom of not having the wing. Thanks for making the videos!

      Hi Mate, in terms of time it was around 4 weeks from stepping on the board to being able to do small DW runs in good conditions. I've still got a long way to go but I feel like i've now broken the back of it.
      I would highly recommend starting the journey, it's so good! There will be some humbling moments but it's worth it. Let me know how you get on.

      Sorry, I forgot about this.. It was the Armstrong APF 1675 with a glide 220 tail (not shimmed). I did shim the baseplate with a 1 deg shim. I will be doing a full video on this soon.

    Hallo …… greetings from GERMANY… I Like your Movies … Great !,,
    My Question : is it a big Differenz by Downwind And flatwater Foiling .. Betwin 82 cm or 75 cm Mast …. Which Mast ist better for beginner
    Thanks for answer …… Friz

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  4 місяці тому

      Hi Friz,
      Thanks for the kind words. A 75cm mast is easier to paddle up as there is less drag. But an 82 will be better in the pumps. So for Downwind, the 82 will be better but for flat water paddle ups, the 75. Hope that helps

    Did Stoke Foiling Boost help with flat foil? I'm trying flat foil with SULTAN7.8 & SAB1550, but I can't do it well、、、

    • @hydrofoilacademy
      @hydrofoilacademy  Рік тому

      No, for this journey I’ve not used the Boost to help. I wanted to do it just with paddle power. Don’t get fixated on the flat water paddle up. It’s not important to being able to DW in bumps.
