The leaves with the raised veining almost resembles the macrophylla leaves, without the variegation. The flowers on both of these are absolutely gorgeous! 🤩
You know I think I had Bi-Color a few years ago. It’s totally gorgeous Doug! They both are! Thanks so much for taking the time to treat us with your videos!! ❤️
@@DougChamberlainVTHoyas Found one already! Haven't seen it for sale all winter and now that I've seen your video, I've seen several. Hey, you know, it's almost time for a summer sale..... hint hint
In this instance only...it would be great to have smell camera. What a beauty that Bi colour is, so compact and globey! 🟡 Thanks again Doug, I'm still waiting for some blooms on my Hoya's but one day ..I will be here, reporting that it has occured! Take care 🌞
Gosh two beautiful flowers Hoyas. I have incrassata Philippines, the leaves are huge and long. They grows heaps. My normal Incrassata is again small leaves not long not quite wavy perhaps because they are small. It grow a leaf in 6 months hahaha it’s amazing you grow them from a cutting. They are huge plants now
Hi Minh, I bet your incrassata Philippines could be this plant. I really don't think that these are all new species, part of the reason that there are so many Philippine species is because of Dale Kloppenburg wanted to see how many he could create.
@@DougChamberlainVTHoyas yeh could be the outer rim of my doesn’t go that black. Gosh hahaha that is why say how come so many hoya from Philippines. It’s kind of small country. Indonesia has heaps more island
Doug you have mentioned that the finlaysonii type hoyas tend to have a lemon furniture polish smell. I am interested in more information about Hoya classification and how the flowers smell. Any information is appreciated. I think there are other growers who also select plants partly on this basis, or who avoid plants, on this basis! You have discussed "perfume overload" and unpleasant smelling flowers in previous videos.
Scent is such a subjective kind of thing. For instance I love the smell of freshly opened H. lacunosa flowers, but I have heard many say that to them it smells just like cat urine. It seems incomprehensible to me, but that is how it is. I don't really have any info on the classification and how Hoya flowers smell. It would be an interesting topic, but I have nothing on it. The most powerful and beautiful Hoya scent in my opinion comes from Hoya calycina 'Stargazer'
When you mentioned that H. calycina smells of lilacs, I put it on my "hoyas of interest", list. Although I might prefer the variety "Stargazer", due to its greater blooming potential and more striking flowers. I don't necessarily expect the scent to evoke lilacs, but it will probably be very pleasant.
Upon reviewing the videos on H. calycina and it's variety "Stargazer", I also find it really interesting about how the different plants respond to day length, considering that they are the same species!
Beautiful blooms and lovely Hoyas!! Finally the snow has melted here in the mountains of NE Washington, the temps have warmed up and my Hoyas are putting on new growth. As I get older it seems winter takes longer and longer to pass and this year was especially brutal, getting down to -13 off and on with more cold days and more snow this year. The cooler growing extras you sent with my purchases last year are doing well, thank-you! Happy Spring and Happy Growing Doug! 🌹😊 ;
Great to hear from you Carol! I am heartened to hear that your plants are doing well, and it is indeed great to be almost done with winter. Happy Spring to you too, and I hope that you have a wonderful growing season!
It’s funny how they bloom when they want to bloom 😅 Some of my hoyas I’ve had for years, huge but with no blooms & some I receive as small cuttings, no peduncles, in the winter & then summer the following summer they bloom 🙃🤷🏻♀️
It truly is a mystery as to what triggers these plants to flower Ria, but one thing is for sure, some species readily flower and some absolutely do not!
Doug, I am creating demo websites to practice my freelance business and I was wondering if I could use some of your photos from your website on it. It's not for $$ just personal use and I would link it to your site as credit!

Yes, Elsa there are a lot of Hoyas that have almost those identical blooms.

Yeh a lot of hoya giving out shares of colour under different growing condition. My obovata ‘splash’ has real pink flowers instead of white as normal.
@@minhja4924 That is very cool Minh!
Can you please do a video of your 10 favourite hoyas in your collection?
It will be very hard to pick out 10, but I will begin thinking about it!
I have a BP-03 I got as a free cutting from Ric Moriera. It's a very cute hoya! I love how round the leaves are. Mine hasn't bloomed yet though
I have noticed that there are some other BP Hoyas out there. Hope your #03 flowers soon for you Sarah!

I think I saw Hoya Obavat as BP-03 and it indicated it stood for big leaves in (), however I don’t know if it is true. What gorgeous plants❣️
Thanks Lisa; it looks like BP stands for Ban Phaeo Hoya Nursery in Thailand, which I have now written down.
