28:00 I remember one of the biggest issues in undergrad was, it was meant to be a time of learning and discussion but when it came to the final crit, even though you were told it’s a discussion you would find yourself irritating the lectures if you didn’t simply agree.
I think it’s a product of time constraint (you’re not the only student so you can’t debate for hours), also perhaps a perceived defensiveness but sometimes you didn’t want to be the type of architect they were encouraging you to be. But sometimes you were wrong, hard to know what to take on and what to reject when you’re looking from the bottom up 😄
Thankfully post-grad was much more of a discussion. And there was basically only constructive criticism.

What is the purpose of arty architectural drawings when modern tech (CG) makes it possible to render what a building will look like with photorealistic accuracy very easily?

Accuracy is often not what you're going for towards Clients throughout the design stage. Lots of things are unclear in the design and a drawing will give the client a framework for fantasizing how it would look like. A realistic render doesn't leave vagueness for imagination.

Does anyone know which Borges text he is referring to?

I assume Jorge Luis Borges.. I couldn't find the text from which the quote comes from though.

@@adrianhodgson4448 From a bit of Googling it looks like it's a quote from the Borges book Labyrinths

@@dtrellis cool, thanks for finding that.
I did also find the actual quote which says:
"That the imminence of a revelation that is not yet produced, is perhaps the aesthetic reality." ~Jorge Luis Borges (said to be sourced in 'Other Inquisitions', 1937-1952.. though perhaps he said this in several different ways in several writings?)
