I agree with oldoperafan about her superior arms. I love the Russian ballet dancers in general over other countries because of the way they move their upper bodies and arms, and to me Evgenia's are among the very best of the best.
I've read that she won't be on the Bolshoi's tour to NYC. Such a shame, I was planning a trip to the States to see her. I guess I'll have to try and catch her in Europe instead!
I wish just ONE production would costume the SP Fairy in frosted lavender-plum, like her namesake. Have you ever seen real sugar plums? They are plum-colored! Here in NYC the Balanchine version uses an ugly and inexplicable lime green! And the lighting should always be mysterious and moonlit for this variation too.......
+Art Ballet Academy What?---this is the Sugar Plum Fairy here, in the video we are discussing. Marie/Clara is the little girl. What are you talking about?
+Art Ballet Academy Thanks for clarification. But I think changing the plotting is a bad idea and my original comments stand. Here in NYC this variation is yanked to the beginning of the act by Balanchine...a bad idea again.
!mrdunn brucvald No, this isn't a change of plot, this is the typical Russian version of the Nutcracker. That is Princess Masha, not Sugar Plum Fairy. So, why would a ballet princess not wear a pink tutu and crown? Let's go back to America....
she's floating. and the bangs are just adorable.
She dances like a feather of no weight. So tremendously elegant. Great!
She gets more and more ethereal year after year. Absolutely lovely!!!
Wow! She is so musical, it's almost like the music emanates FROM her.
Her dancing looks so beautiful and effortless!
As perfect as the greatest in this lovely production, and Genia has superior arms which put her above most.
Best choreography by far!👏
She is an outstanding ballerina!
Genia looks amazing! What a joyful and effortless Sugar Plum.

Stunning!
she is lovely, probably the best Sugar Plum Fairy I have ever seen, she's my favourite ballerina!! :)
Jesus, her Sugar Plum variation is so badass! I love you Genia, thanks for being such an amazing dancer.
beatiful, she is a really princess but Maximova was the better

I wish I could but I live in Paris. Hopefully she will perform again here soon.

She is not sugar plum :-) but Masha or Marie.

+In Grigorovitch version there is no Sugar plum. Marie dancing pas de deux with prince

perfect.. I don't believe I've seen other Sugar Plum Fairy variations with Italian fouettes and regular fouettes.
Im from russia like she is:)
Nina Kaptsova did it better, still very awesome :D
So true!!! No one has done it better than Nina!
Aaron Rollander
I Think Ekaterina MAximova was super. :)
+Patricia Dos Ramos Strongly agreed. Nina's sugarplum is the best I have seen.
