In my experience those are usually people that follow Abrahamic religions. They believe that animals were put here for us to control and use as we desire, and they believe that animals don't have souls. Remember how the Bible says; Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.” It's that way of thinking which has set us back in the field of animal research and understanding. For thousands of years nobody could care less about if an animal had thought, self-awareness, or felt pain. Only over the last few hundred years have Humans really been interested about the inner-workings of another animal's mind. I'd imagine if we spent more time thinking of them as equally important as we are, we may even have been able to decipher animal languages by now.
I'll add that my tuxedo cat is smarter than most people that live around me. Small rural towns are nice but have the downside of being occupied by a lot of ignorant and hateful people.
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland 100% correct. We have more than enough proof that they are able to love and live with the same system as humans have. In fact, they still follow the same circle in the jungle of having kids forming packs etc. A lot of humans don't do that anymore. So for the religious people, are they more human than us? We need to at least accept that they bleed and breathe the same as us. The whole "plants are alive too!!" argument is often used to desensitize people so they continue to follow the religion of the government which is Christianity (at least in most western countries). It's just sad.
@@StrangeScaryNewEngland Well I'm willing to bet your cat is more empathetic than most people too. Their love is unconditional. Sure cats can be murderous sometimes but they never act upon their impulses 😁. I'd rather be friends with my dog alone than anyone around me to be honest.
They work the same as our brains. We're all animals, but mammals in particular have a better brain-structure for learning and retaining information. They key difference is our "languages". We can't speak dog or whale so we can't gauge their intelligence. We also have to note that many Human behaviors that are seen as normal aren't always the most intelligent ways of doing something, hence why we're so destructive to everything around us yet we can travel into space and the deepest parts of the oceans. Religion has ruined our relationship with other animals, because according to the bible animals were only made for our use and consumption, and don't have souls like we do. Then God said, “Let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”
